Looking forward to it. My only complaint with Gunman Clive was that is was on the short side. Otherwise it was a nicely crafted game full of great references.
I think the hate towards EA and yearly sports games comes down the incredible similarities between each iteration. Every year EA seems to boast a number of differences, and yet Fifa 08 plays a lot like Fifa 13. The yearly upgrades are less than most games get in terms of patching. Tiger Woods is another series that follows the same formula. The upgrades are so minimal, you could probably skip half a decades worth of games before justifying the £30 for a list of gameplay tweaks and kit updates.
I prefer games that have fun and interesting mechanics over a dominating storyline as stories can be both restrictive and expensive. They don't seem to have the same kind of replayability, either.
@Nintenzo Given how big the game is, it'll unlikely be download play. You'd need a lot of free space to store the game. Download play really only happens when you're playing something shorter or smaller, like Street Fighter 4 or Mario Kart DS.
@geonjaha Fallblox/Crashmo changed the formula enough to make it a worthy sequel. Rather than experimenting with routes up a pixelated image, you had to take a step back and figure out how to get the blocks of much simpler images to fall into place before acting. It's so much harder, too.
Downloaded this one the day I got my Wii U, but only started playing it last night. It's more an experience, than a game, but it's massively enjoyable. Cannot recommend this one enough!
Waited years for this lol. Kinda hoping it comes to the eShop instead now, because it's the Wii U that'll be absorbing all my time for the next few months.
How has nobody commented on Reggie's Call of Duty comment? It's quite obvious that the game visually is no better than the 360 version, but it also doesn't run anywhere near as smoothly. Very much the opposite of what Reggie claims.
Maybe he was put on the spot there, but that's one cheeky little lie.
I like the characters, but the gameplay videos look more disappointing than the reviews themselves. This is Ubisoft and they love to rush out crap in time with a console launch. I think i'll pass on this one.
@AhabSpampurse I managed to complete it without using save states a few years ago, but I achieved a great level of frustration. I don't ever want to see that game, or it's sequels ever again. It may have tight and slick control, but it's nothing more than a reflex-memory game and feels all to cheap to me.
It would be nice to hear what the developers think about their own work. Surely there are reasons other than pure laziness, being massively uninspired, etc... Surely no programmer or game designer would want to make something like this.
I'm envious. Both Xevious and Twinbee, in the 3D Classics Collection, have eased me into a genre I almost completely ignored as a kid. Hope this comes to Europe soon!
Reminds me of when I was younger. When you weren't following the hype of the most recent machines, and when I was no more impressed with the first Sonic the Hedgehog than I was Paperboy. At least he'll enjoy the games for what they are, rather than being distracted by the hype of the unreleased.
The day after they put up Star Fox 64 on the eShop, for £40, I went and bought it for £19 in GameStation. These prices will have to change before I ever consider paying such prices for retail games.
@SkywardLink98 Not true at all. I know tons of people who play something 'to see what it's like', complete it and then say 'good game, but not worth paying for', or 'i'll have to pick that one up at some point', but never do. Pirates are hypocrites. I know enough of them personally, as it's something a number of my friends have all done in the past.
GAME are currently offering one of the most expensive deals in the country. How they still remain in business, I don't know. It can't be long before they collapse again.
I'll carry on purchasing from the VC then. My collection is mostly built up from the free points i've earned in the Stars catalogue, but I feel much safer making a purchase now, knowing I can transfer them across.
Maybe its because I grew up with those titles, but I much prefer the names Starwing and Lylat Wars to Star Fox. Star Fox sounds more like a kids tv show, whereas the other two names sounded more like an adult sci-fi programme.
I remember those old SNES prices. I managed to pick up Street Fighter II Turbo from a neighbour for just £5. Happy days.
As for TMHT on the NES. I have no idea how I ever made it to the near-end of that game. I haven't come remotely close to matching that since adulthood.
Imagine there was something for you to download every week. You'd never have time to appreciate what you already had.
On a side note, Donkey Kong Jr is more than worth it if you're a high score chaser. I had an inter-forum competition going on over at Eurogamer when the ambassadors first got the game and it was great fun.
Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 remain the 3DS' big hitters. They were always going to be the games that most benefited from the launch of the XL. However, I expect a few more 3DS games to creep into the charts next week. Kid Icarus, Mario Tennis and Theatrythm being the most likely candidates.
