After some more time spent with this game and figuring out the weapon strategies I managed to 1CC this game. Now I completely changed my mind. This game is super awesome. There is so much love put in this game with many small details. And the music is great and super catchy.

Ok, I usually "sleep" through the first 4 stages but after that is where the true fun begins. With large stages and challenging bosses. I especially like the end boss in stage 6, the one that changes it's arms, and the first mid-boss at the beginning of the stage 7, the one with mirrors. The final boss was very hard. I only managed to kill him thanks to all my saved extra lives and bombs.

I found the first weapon to be the strongest and best suited for bosses. Concentrate both your and the pods fire on the boss weak point and they will go down in no time. Also, when using the "kamikaze" special weapon on any boss place your ship on the bosses weak point and blast away for extra damage. Just remember to back down when the special weapon is about to end. If you have 3 weapons collected and you see another one coming your way, use the special weapon than get that weapon and you will have 3 special weapons again ready to be used. Don't be greedy and use special weapons on tricky bosses but try to save at least one so that you don't loose the pod with extra fire power. You will always get extra weapons at the beginning of the next stage.

My final score for this game is a strong 9 and I sertainly recommend it to everyone. Get it now if you don't have it already.

Just downloaded this game. I have been a shmup fan for some time but actualy never played any of the Soldier games until now. It's not the best game in the genre but definetly not the worst.

I like the graphic presentation and weapons in this game (the laser is cool) and it's fun to play such an easy shmup for a change. Well at least it was easy up til 6th stage. I got there with 1 credit on my third run but got killed pretty fast. Mostly because of the new enemies and some new elements (like the moving walls) that were introduced there. But with some memorization it should be possible to make it through without a scratch. Who knows, maybe this game will be my first 1CC shmup on normal mode.

Which game should I get next Super Star Soldier or Blazing Lazers?

This game is great fun but way too easy. You get too many extra lives for scores and the bosses are not challenging enough. Just finished it without using continues. The 6th stage is a bit tuff though. Next would be to finish it without dying.

Advice: Get the spread gun on the first level and don't let it go until the end stage.

Now, where is the 1st Contra/Probotector?

You can get Majora's Mask for GameCube on Zelda Collection disc together with 3 other Zelda games. And if it could be emulated on GameCube I'm sure it could be emulated on Wii too.

A very good game that is ruined by the last stage. I can't get past the "wall climb" at the end of the maze and it makes me mad every time I try to that point that I don't want to play this game anymore. It's a real shame. Only 6/10 from me because of the last stage. The game was totaly an 8 to that point.

I also just bought this game and enjoying playing it alot. I remember playing it as a kid but I have never managed to beat even the first level. Now it's time for revenge :) So far I have come past the first boss. I'm loving all the extra hidden treasures and bonus stages and don't want to spoil all the fun finding some of them by watching walkthroughs.

I have finally managed to beat this game. The eggplant wizards gave me hell in the last castle but the boss was way to easy. I wish there were more flying stages and with more variation than this. After you finish the game you can play it over from the beginning but with all powerups intact. Overall a very nice little game that I recommend to all hardcore players.

After 2 hours of strugling with the 3rd stage (1-3) I have finaly been able to beat it and the first boss that come after it. Now I'm playing the side scrolling stages for the first time and simply love it.

For those of you who are stuck at the first 3 levels my advice is: replay the game from the very begining, kill as many enemies as possible (including those inside the rooms) collecting all hearts. When you get enough points at the end of the stage 2 you should receive an extra live meter. Also, you should have enough hearts to buy a bottle that fills your live meter. With that the game becomes much easier.

It is an achievment to beat this game (without cheating) a few have experienced. I did it once, then never touched it again ever since and never will. 2 stars from me as well. Also, 600 points for this is a bull.

I have this game on my Taito Collection 2 for PS2. All I can say is don't bother with this game, it's a waste of both money and time. The game plays like ... Luckily, Taito Col. 2 have many other great games so I just pretend this game does not exist.

Seems to me like a lot of fun. Will deffinetly get this. Bomberman as a boss and shooting CD-roms is brilliant! lol

Yay! I finaly managed to finish this game (on Mega Man Collection for PS2). As a child I always had a problem with the Yellow Devil. But now, after I learned his pattern it was not such a big deal. After that the game was like a walk in a park. Even the last boss was a big push over.

I also think this game deserves more than 1 star. My daughter loved this game when she was 6 years old and it was one of the few games that she could actually finish without my help.
