Peppy_Hare commented on Review: Mega Man 4 (NES):

If memory serves me correctly, I think the charge up sound effect also uses one sound channel, which impacts the soundtrack negatively as well.

Whoa, temper your excitement commenters. The last Retrocon was TERRIBLE! The emulation performed mediocre at best and the sound was terrible. I wasted my money on one so I urge you to read the reviews before you buy the 4th iteration of this device

Peppy_Hare commented on Wii U System Update Adds "Stability Improvements":

I get flickering horizontal lines running across my screen whenever I use component cables on my WiiU. They come and go. Got a replacement system from Nintendo and it does it too! It's extremely frustrating! HDMI out does not produce the same problem. It even does it on my other television. Maybe this update will help.

I'll preface by saying that I love this website, but that was a very weak review. Give that game it's proper due by composing a review with some depth (e.g. reason for losing the "Contra" name, why the characters were changed, addition of inclined areas, change from behind-the-back to overhead levels, etc.).

Peppy_Hare commented on Talking Point: Wii U Direct - Tell Us What You...:

Pretty ticked that I'm having to pay for the privilage of playing on the WiiU gamepad. I have 43 games. That's not an insignificant amount of money I'll need to pay to transfer the rights over to WiiU. A money grab by Nintendo.

I refuse to pay for VC titles I've purchased on the Wii for my 3DS. It's ridiculous and, I believe, the harm done to consumer loyalty is greater than the benefits Nintendo receives in extra digital sales. Forcing Nintendo-philes to redownload these games only injures the brand we've known and loved throughout the years.

While I'm on the subject: it shouldn't have been a hassle to transfer VC games over to the WiiU but it was. I would've preferred a Club Nintendo to Nintendo Shop link that would've allowed for me to simply redownload purchased VC titles.
I appreciate that on my iOS devices I can redownload apps that I've paid for on other iOS devices. My PS Vita allows me to play PSX titles (such as Klonoa, Symphony of the Night and Metal Gear Solid) I've purchased years ago from the Playstation Store (titles which were originally purchased and played on my PS3). Nintendo's strict "walled-garden" approach regarding digital content frustrates the loyal fan, nickel-and-dimes already-paying consumers and drives some to hacking and emulation.

"Looks great, I want to buy it but it's really silly being for sale on BOTH WiiWare and 3DS. When's Nintendo going to link this stuff?"
I agree Grubdog I have it for VC and NES but no way am I gonna pay again for the 3DS version. Nintendo's double and triple-dipping is getting ridiculous.

I purchased a couple of reproduction cartridges a couple months ago: Sweet Home and Secret of Mana 2. They're really good. They came with boxes and manuals, though I think I probably just should've purchased the cart only.
