A ctrl-F search yields no comments about Rusty Pup, which is surprising. I think it looks great! It seems very unique and gives me a World of Goo vibe, which is a very good thing. That said, my vote still went to Steamworld Heist, as I loved Dig and will prefer Rusty Pup on Wii U.

ParSnake commented on Dark Half Is A Twisted SNES JRPG From The Make...:

@KeeperBvK I realize the Retron 5 is an emulator, but emulators are completely legal, as far as I am aware. When I referred to "illegal emulation" in my initial post, I should have said, "emulation of illegal ROMs," because the downloading of copied ROM images is what is illegal, not the actual playing of them through emulation. What is great about the Retron 5 is that it emulates the legitimate ROMs from actual cartridges, meaning no pirating of ROMs is necessary.

ParSnake commented on Dark Half Is A Twisted SNES JRPG From The Make...:

@Damo @Shiryu @Tempaura
As @Siskan pointed out, it's perfectly possible to play these translation patches without resorting to illegal emulation. If you have a Retron 5, for example, you can apply the patch to the legitimate cartridge, negating any need to pirate the ROM. I am very against playing video games illegally, and this method has let me play games like Mother 3, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Treasure Hunter G without feeling guilty.

ParSnake commented on Little Devil Inside Hits Its Target and is Com...:

Wow, the gameplay footage already looks very polished and interesting, definitely several steps above most of the games on Kickstarter. And I also approve the use of Vivaldi's Four Seasons as the trailer's music! I will be sure to keep an eye on this.

ParSnake commented on Karous -The Beast of Re:Eden- is a 3D Vertical...:

While watching the trailer, a Cascade soap video ad started playing elsewhere in the browser, and the overlapping of sounds made this trailer seem like a artsy/psychological game. I can't believe I didn't realize it was a soap commercial until both trailers ended simultaneously, and the Cascade ad mentioned its brand name for the first time.

...Actually, a game with that kind of discordant, atonal style could be awesome! Who ever thought shoot-em-ups work well with detergent?

ParSnake commented on Pandora's Tower And Sin And Punishment Coming ...:

If you are interested in unique JRPGs, definitely check out Pandora's Tower. It isn't perfect, but the motion-based combat is very satisfying, and the soundtrack (which consists mostly of new versions of classical pieces) is phenomenal.

ParSnake commented on Rumour: Cave Story 2 Teased at PAX South and C...:

I hope this isn't true. Cave Story is a very special game to me, and it getting a sequel would lessen its value, especially if it is a cash-in by Nicalis like the numerous Cave Story ports were.

Nevertheless, I would probably play a sequel 10+ times like I did with the first one.

ParSnake commented on Review: Thomas Was Alone (Wii U eShop):

I played this a while back on PC and felt it wasn't worth my time. It felt too much like a game trying to be art (minimalistic graphics, ambient piano music, etc.), and it never managed to create interesting characters/plot. It didn't help that it played like a free flash game.

ParSnake commented on Hands On: Storing Pocket Monsters in Pokémon ...:

The whole process is very convoluted, in my opinion. Here's the simplified, step-by-step way to bring your Gen V Pokémon to Gen VI.
How to Move Pokemon from Gen V to Gen VI:
Start Gen V game
Move pokemon to 1-30 box in Amanita’s PC (don’t forget to save!)
Use Pokemon Transporter to transfer your Pokemon from Gen V to Bank
Switch Gen V cart with Gen VI cart
Start Pokemon Bank: move all Pokemon from Transporter box to X/Y cart box
Repeat for each box you want to move
Note: this must be done after the initial setup of Pokémon Bank.

ParSnake commented on Feature: Our Nintendo Moments of 2013 - Part Two:

Though it wasn't a new game, playing Final Fantasy IV (Advance) for the first time was a highlight for me. It's gotten me hooked on the series, and I've now played I, III and V as well. I'd be done with VI if my save file hadn't been deleted-- at least it gives me an opportunity to play it again!

ParSnake commented on Nintendo Has "Nothing To Announce" Regarding M...:

Hey, this pretty much confirms MOTHER 3 will come eventually! Reggie didn't outright deny it being localized, and clearly he knows there's a lot of demand for it (since he said the Earthbound rerelease's positive feedback didn't change Nintendo's opinion of the franchise.)

Anyways, it would be a bad business move to announce a U.S. MOTHER 3 mere months after its predecessor's release. Give it a year or two, and I'm sure they will announce something.

ParSnake commented on Say Hello To The Nintendo 2DS - A 3DS without 3D:

My, lots of complaining in the comments... While I don't like the overall look, I certainly see where Nintendo is going with this.

Also, though the design looks ugly at first, there are some cool design choices: the home button and the triggers look really high-quality and sleek.

ParSnake commented on Weirdness: A Young Boy's Paper Game Boy Shows ...:

This certainly brings back memories! Before I got a Wii (my first system), I would occasionally sit in bed, close my eyes, and pretend I was playing a video game. I remember all of them were about a living red pickle, and he would try to get through traffic jams in order to reach a space shuttle launch.

ParSnake commented on Review: EarthBound (Wii U eShop):

I've had MOTHER 2 for a while now, but I never liked it all that much... The game was nearly impossible playing in a foreign language for me, so it's so cool to be finally playing it in English!

On a somewhat unrelated note, are the MOTHER 1 and 3 reviews still on the site? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

ParSnake commented on Feature: When it Comes to Games, What's in a N...:

About the MOTHER/Earthbound argument, I prefer the Japanese name, but I'm glad it was changed to Earthbound in the U.S. I've always thought that MOTHER is more appropriate when looking deeper into the series' story, but I doubt many Americans would play a game called MOTHER. I told one of my friends that I got an awesome game called MOTHER, and he responded, "Is this some kind of sexist joke?"

ParSnake commented on Hands On: The Wonderful 101:

For some reason, this isn't exciting me much. I think it reminds me of Soace Invaders Get Even, which I didn't like. Hopefully I will like it if I get to play it!

ParSnake commented on Not All Super Smash Bros. Characters Will Make...:

I imagine Ike will be replaced by Chrom, Wolf would be removed, and Lucario would be replaced by Zoroark. I would love for Meta Knight to return, as long as his moveset would be adjusted- he's such a cool character, but he was very overpowered in Brawl.

ParSnake commented on Steampunk Puzzle Platformer Teslagrad Looks Go...:

This looks pretty cool! It seems that there have been tons of "retro-styled" games coming out from indie developers, so I think it's nice to see a new style and gameplay concepts. It reminds me a bit of A Boy and His Blob!

ParSnake commented on Talking Point: Nintendo Should Aim to Produce ...:

The most mature, thought-provoking and "darkest" game I have played is MOTHER 3, which is a Nintendo game. MOTHER 3 proves that games with tons of color, humor, and personality can have fantastic stories. MOTHER 3 combines great gameplay with an emotional and philosophical story, and I think games should try to be like that, as opposed to AAA western titles like The Last of Us.

ParSnake commented on Feature: Our Top 10 3DS Games - Summer 2013:

Here's my top five:
5. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
4. Super Mario 3D Land
2. Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
1. Kid Icarus: Uprising

I haven't played Luigi's Mansion or Fire Emblem yet, looking forward to those!
By the way, is this list including download games? I am sure there are some that are good enough to be on this list. (VVVVVV)

As for games I am looking forward to, Bravely Default, Pokemon, and M&L: Dream Team are the ones I'm excited for.

ParSnake commented on Review: Kirby Super Star (Wii U eShop / Super ...:

Personally, I'd give it a 9 or maybe a 10 out of 10. This game is one of my all-time favorites! Sure, it is a bit fractured, I suppose, but there's such a huge a variety of things to do and places to explore, there's a decent challenge, and every single bit of it is a ton of fun.

ParSnake commented on Aksys Games Announces Hakuoki: Memories of the...:

Ahh... I was very interested in this, until I looked up the ESRB rating. When will there be a visual novel that is not rated M? I would've loved to play games like 999 and VLR if it weren't for their "mature" content.

ParSnake commented on Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This...:

Unfortunately, I gave up video games for Lent (a Catholic event), so I won't be able to play anything. If I were able to play, I'd be attempting to get past the language barrier in Mother 2 (why did I get the import version?) I think I would also buy Fire Emblem and/or F-Zero.

ParSnake commented on Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2013:

I'm really glad I got a 3DS; I'm excited for all of these games (except for HarmoKnight), even though I haven't played any of the games of their respective series. I'm sure there will be a lot of new experiences for me this year!
Currently, I'm most excited about Bravely Default and Fire Emblem. I will definitely get them if they are rated E-E10+... I don't usually play T-rated games. I make some exceptions, like for Metroid Prime and Super Smash Bros.
How 'Bad' are BDFF and Fire Emblem? I know Flying Fairy is original, but I haven't seen a lot of footage, so thanks if you can help!
