I think it's safe to say the Art Style: Aquia game will be the best of the bunch as far as the launch lineup goes. I look forward to playing it (though I hate the idea of using $5 of my free $10 to download it :P). I'm heading off to pick my DSi up in about 45 minutes, exciting times indeed!

@Bahamut ZERO: Well variety is the spice of life you know :) The more reviewers, the more opinions and we all know we could use more of those haha!

As to the game I wouldn't necessarily sum it up in those words. I think KnucklesSonic8 summed it up best when he said: "In short, the game's not shovelware, but it's not great; it's got some enjoyment when with 4 people or more but for 1,000, it's just too overpriced."

@Gabbo: My pleasure of course =) In all honesty, it isn't that bad and I can easily see this game being used when I have friends and family over. Not sure how "long" it'll be used, but it'll be used which is the point I would think haha. So no worries on taking a bullet as it certainly isn't as painful as people might think ;-)

@Olimar_91: Overcrowding of "dissapointing" games is certainly the bane of every gamer. Thankfully, making more informed choices these days are easier (and sometimes harder) due to the internet and other media sources. Back when I was a young 'un, all I had to go on was the game's boxart to determine whether or not I should play it. Which begs the question, what on earth did I see in MegaMan's boxart that prompted me to buy it haha!

@PALgamer: I was simply stating that while nobody would consider it a AAA title, it certainly isn't shovelware either. As to how could it benefit from online? Easy. Since it requires multiple people to truly enjoy the game, allowing for online play with say...16 people, would certainly be more advantatageous for someone like myself who only has myself and my wife. Being able to connect my Wii to say my brother's who are 500 miles away as well as some friends who are in other states, we could have a true party game night! Inclusion of Wii Speak would have been perfect for this too. Online and inclusion of Wii Speak would certainly make the $10 easier to swallow!

@KnucklesSonic8: Thanks for the kind words and at first I was all set to bash the game simply on the premise alone. However that would have certainly been an injustice to Gammick Entertainment and I certainly felt I owed them and you (the readers) a fair look at the game. We certainly aren't perfect in our biases, but it does pay to look at things differently from time to time :)

@Party On Dude and tatemon555: It's not completely devoid of any fun and it's not utter crap. There are certainly strong shortcomings with the game as far as offering bang for the buck. However, if you look at it for what it is, it does it quite well compared to what expectations for these types of games offer. So rest assured, it's far removed from being shovelware, but it's not quite a treasure trove of enjoyment either ;-)

@Corbie: Thanks! It was exciting writing my first review and it certainly is different when the pressure is on "you" to say what you mean and mean what you say. I look forward to doing more in the future!

@chunky_droid: It's not often reviewers will agree or come close to agreeing on things. It's nice to see though that other reviewers do take the time to examine a game and realize while overall the package isn't quite up to snuff, there can be redeeming qualities which this game certainly has.

@bboy2970: Good news, the Title Screen picture listed has been corrected. The game does have the more proper sounding Press A Button to Continue instead of what's shown in the thumbnail above.

PapaSmalls commented on Nintendo DSi North American Launch: April 5th:

I'm going to get Powder Blue just because I want to tell people I'm in touch with my feminine side but masculine enough to admit it XD. I would be THRILLED if they offer portable VC gaming by allowing our Wii VC titles (except for N64 and Neo Geo titles for obvious reasons) to be played on the DSi...or better yet, to offer GB, GBC and GBA games as downloadable titles!

PapaSmalls commented on Review: Evasive Space (WiiWare):

This is just a general question to those who review on this site (Dazza or Matthew or anybody who cares to comment)?

Is there a set policy to WHEN a review comes up? For instance, do you play a game the whole way through before committing to a review or is it partially or what? Do you get advance copies of these games to be able to offer a timely review? I'm just curious, thanks!

PapaSmalls commented on Review: Evasive Space (WiiWare):

I haven't played much of Evasive Space since downloading it on Monday. I however can say I understand the thought process behind the controls in Matthew's reviews. I however don't agree with the final verdict. I think it all depends on a person's ability to grasp certain control schemes in the end. Those who can grasp Evasive Space's control "difficulties" will realize it's pretty spot on. It makes sense in real world physics...the longer you apply propulsion to something, the harder it is to control when turning. There are a myriad of ways you can attack this of course...but the bottom line is the controls aren't as bad as they're made out to be in my opinion.

There are shortcomings to the game however and I think Matthew touched upon some of them, but I do believe the control issue was not portrayed correctly. Just my .02 cents.

Also, welcome to reviewing on WiiWare-World Matthew. I hope reviewing here will allow you to better yourself as a reviewer since your humble beginnings over at NSider.

PapaSmalls commented on USA WiiWare Update: SPOGS Racing:

@x.SuperMario.x: On the contrary, there have been plenty of folks who wanted this game. I don't necessarily listen to critics when determining whether or not I should get a game. Unfortunately my gut instinct on this game proved me wrong and that's a rarity these days. That being said, we all live and learn ;)

PapaSmalls commented on USA WiiWare Update: SPOGS Racing:

I've written a review of this game elsewhere...but let me just offer this. I was SEVERELY dissapointed in this title after it being such an anticipated endeavor for WiiWare. I've gone so far as to say that Cruis'n USA at $10 is a better value than SPOGS Racing at $10. A lot of you don't know me...but I RARELY ever shun a game and can usually find a couple of things to redeem it. However with SPOGS, I've felt for the first time in a long time that I've actually wasted money. I hate that feeling and while I'm still excited by all WiiWare has to offer, I'm just sour on this poor attempt of a game that could be better if the develepors had spent more time fixing the framerate, weapons, tracks and to some extent, the graphics. That's just my unsolicited take on this, thanks.
