OrangeSmoothie commented on Talking Point: Nintendo Should Step Up for the...:
I don't love how this article makes it seem like Nintendo is doing us a disservice by not making more download-only titles. I feel like there are plenty of great things from third parties that wouldn't be able to get their games out otherwise. Nintendo, on the other hand, can afford to put every retail title both in stores and on the eShop. By doing this, it's advertising - a kid sees a box in the store and they say to their parents "oh I want that! buy it for me!" What reason is there for Nintendo not to put titles like New Super Luigi U at retail?

That's a beautiful device, but I just feel like Nintendo trying to make a phone is a death wish. Nintendo is too good at making games that don't make sense for a smartphone - leave Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies (both of which are fun, smartphone/tablet friendly games) to other developers and keep making us quality big console titles. I feel like once you get into quick, play-for-a-minute style games, you never quite go back.

The art style looks so... Harvest Moon-ish. I was also hoping for it not to be top-down. But the way Nintendo has been cranking out quality games for the 3DS (even if they aren't my personal taste) is absolutely wonderful.

Hopefully I'll get a minute to start Luigi's Mansion 2 this weekend. Hopefully.

OrangeSmoothie commented on Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma:
This is a really weird subject for me, just because with a lot of things I am totally fine with the idea of digital-only copies, but with video games I'm still attached to the box and cartridges. The main disadvantage to this for me is just that I have to wait a day or two to get games instead of getting them right at midnight on release day.

OrangeSmoothie commented on Potential Wreck-It Ralph Sequel Should Have a ...:
I loved Wreck-it Ralph, and so did the rest of the 20-24 year-old college kids I saw it with. I don't buy a lot of movies, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting this one. As far as Mario goes, I liked the passing references to him in the original film, but I think it would be harder to believably put him into the film since Mario and Fix-it Felix are so similar. As long as they take the references seriously as they seemed to in the first film though, I don't think I would have much to complain about.

It's a Zelda weekend for me - OoT 3D (I just started the Spirit Temple) and I'm finally getting into the Minish Cap from the ambassador program. And I've gotten back into my Animal Crossing town in anticipation of New Leaf so I will probably play at least a few minutes of that too.

I feel like I just found out that Ubisoft has been cheating on me.

OrangeSmoothie commented on Review: SSX Tricky (GameCube):
@TheDarkness - SSX, especially SSX Tricky, isn't about the physics. It's about doing ridiculous tricks that are pretty much impossible in real life.
I love this game so much. I miss it; I used to play it all the time.

Great review. This game should prove that my 3DS purchase was definitely worth it.

It'll come eventually. They say they're listening to the players more, and if they're wanting more controller support, than it will come eventually.
I'm just glad they aren't showing us a bunch of colors this time and then only producing one at launch (or 2 if we're talking 3DS).

OrangeSmoothie commented on Sony President Thinks 3DS is Just an Updated DS:
@LordJumpMad
Because it makes it sound like Sony is smarter than Nintendo, even if it's not a logical interpretation. The PS3 is and updated PS2 which is an updated Playstation. But he doesn't mention that, he just wants people to look down on Nintendo like he does.

Sounds great
My hope: at E3 they announce a bunch of new stuff coming to the VC or 3DSWare and then when it ends on Thursday BAM it's all there

OrangeSmoothie commented on Mario and Link Make eShop Cards Look Good:
@komiturtle92 i totally know what you're saying about the blue's clues and mario painting thing. but japan isn't using points, their prices are just in yen-a 1000 yen card is roughly the same as our $10 cards will be

OrangeSmoothie commented on Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recaptur...:
The distinction between hardcore and casual has become so polluted these days that it doesn't really matter anymore, at least not to me.
I just want Nintendo to provide something that is on par with (or surpasses) the capabilities of the Xbox360 and PS3. I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on games just because I don't want to buy another system and I still want to enjoy my Mario and Zelda games (which would be amazing on something with that kind of graphics capability).

I actually understand this timeline, but... the video itself..... yeah.
Maybe that's why Link doesn't talk.

I'm amazed that the N64 version was only 20 fps.
Honestly from what I've seen I have no complaints about what this game is going to be. I have a few wishes that would make it even better cough*full orchestral score*cough but they aren't going to do everything I suppose.

I got a headache the first time I used the 3D for more than 10 minutes, but haven't had any problems since. My brain just had to get used to the idea of seeing 3D on a screen. My glasses-free 3D is gonna stay glasses free thank you.

OrangeSmoothie commented on Rumour: Project Cafe Controller Contains a Camera:
This might be a little too much for me. I still don't know how I feel about the idea of a screen on the controller but a camera too?
I just don't want to spend $60+ for an extra controller, not to mention the system itself isn't gonna be cheap either at this point.

OrangeSmoothie commented on Review: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (3DS):
It's definitely not a challenging game, but as a Pirates fan and as my first lego game, I really enjoyed it. If you go in with an expectation that it isn't going to blow you away, you can get a lot out of this game. I'm halfway through doing everything 100%, and I'm loving it as a simple entertaining game.
