Oddy commented on Feature: The Evolution of Nintendo's Controllers:

I forgot how ugly the N64 controller was.

The GameCube controller would've been perfect if you didn't have to choose between wireless and rumble, but as it stands it's still the best Nintendo has ever produced.

The Wii Remote and Nunchuk have vast potential (as explained in the article) that wasn't fully tapped into with the Wii, imo, so here's hoping the Wii U gives them the chance to reach their full potential. The Classic Controller fills the void the lack of dual sticks on the traditional set-up left, for the most part, but the lack of wireless hurts it.

The Wii U controller seems great so far, except for the lack of rear-facing camera--c'mon, Nintendo, that can't cost too much to tack on--but overall it's pretty much the best of all worlds. I mean, seriously, it has a touchscreen in the middle! Tell me the Wii U doesn't automatically have the most versatile control options ever seen in gaming.

Oddy commented on Review: Chuck E. Cheese's Arcade Room (DSiWare):

"To play, you tap the target you wish to hit. You should aim a bit ahead of where your target is moving, which is probably common sense to anybody who's ever encountered a moving object in their lifetime, but since that's all the game has to offer in terms of strategy we thought it was worth pointing out."

"There is also a section called Challenges, which sees you trying to achieve a particular score or other condition on each of the five games. The bars are set quite low here and we cleared them all the first time we tried. Our reward for doing so? Nothing, unless you count never having to play Chuck E. Cheese's Arcade Room again.
And we do."

I was reading this review while eating lunch, and twice I stopped to read these quotes aloud. These are great bits of comedic writing, Phil. Cheers.

Nintendo Power is having all of the best exclusives lately. This, Cave Story 3DS on the eShop, and new RCR crossover characters to name a few.

Komic you're so lucky to have NP may already. :P

Also, tell us what the RCR characters are please.

Oddy commented on Nintendo Reveals New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS:

This is the second time this week I've been disappointed with a new Mario announcement. Before this week I had never been disappointed with a new Mario announcement.

Might turn out to be awesome, but that won't stop me from remaining extremely skeptical.

Oddy commented on Talking Point: Lessons to be Learned from WiiW...:

Despite the freezing issues I had with it, MDK2 on WiiWare was a superb game. There's no way that the developer didn't deserve to get paid anything for their work. Regarding Trent Oster's statements, however, I would never rule out working with a company EVER again because of one bad experience.

Oddy commented on The Wii U RUNNER 2 Hotline is Now Open:

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he'll be unlockable. Also playable are Unkle Dill, CommandgirlVideo, a carrot-like thing, and Whetfart Cheeseburger, whatever that is. They're really going off the deep end with these guys.

Oddy commented on The Wii U RUNNER 2 Hotline is Now Open:

@Link_Belmont Doubt it, unless you're suggesting that as a feature of the Wii U version, which might be cool. The option to play as Retro CV has been confirmed though.

@GazPlant If you read PushSquare's interview with the developers, this isn't really a BIT.TRIP game. Part of me wonders if they would've been better off without CV and that universe, and just used the new characters they've come up with. Not that I would want that, but it might help to differentiate from the original.

Oddy commented on The Wii U RUNNER 2 Hotline is Now Open:

wiiu@gaijingames.com exists? Well, that would be a waste of an email address if it didn't come to Wii U.

I suggested that on the bottom screen they have Unkle Dill giving the player moral support.

@NintyKing Nope, they've been replaced with cannon mini-games. Less rewarding, but they take less time and provide more instant gratification.

@skywake Agreed. That would actually be a huge advantage over the PS3 version for me.

Oddy commented on Feature: The Super Mario Renaissance:

Nostalgia is a force to be reckoned with. For this reason the Sunshine era will always be the best for me even though Super Mario Sunshine was the only Mario game that came out in the Sunshine era.

Oddy commented on Going to PAX East? Come Say Hello!:

Cool beans, panda.

Also, why does the "@jonwahlgren" hyperlink also go to his profile, instead of his Twitter account (http://www.twitter.com/jonwahlgren)? I understand that he lists that as his website, but still...

EDIT: Maybe because that's what the site does to "@something", ha ha.

Oddy commented on Feature: Our Favourite 3DS Games so Far:

I have to agree with all of the people saying Pushmo shouldn't be that high up. It's a very entertaining puzzler, but the reward factor pales in comparison to more intense and demanding games.
