I'm not really sure if you get what I'm saying. I am not siding with the pro-censorship group.

As for splitting the fan base, it was happening anyway with this game. You talk like there is nobody pleased that this has been taken out. There are plenty of people pleased with it. Especially many longtime fans of the series. Just look at the comment section.
But that's not even my point, really.

I didn't call anyone entitled JUST for wanting to be equal with Japan. I even said that's fine in my first comment. What I'm saying, and what I have been saying, it that many of these gamers feel that they are owed it, by Nintendo, and the underlying problem there is entitlement. I never said whether it was a smart move or not for Nintendo, because that's not my point.

Whether or not the removal lessens or increases the quality of the product is personal opinion, and as I was trying to demonstrate in my analogy with movies, that opinion will differ depending what audience you are a part of.

I know I'm a bit late, but here it goes,

As for the flaw in me argument, I wouldn't really call it a flaw. What I said still stands. And of course it will affect their business, that doesn't change that they own the product.
And, even then, how many of the people here would have accually bought the game? How many people will still buy this game, despite what they say? I won't claim to know, but we'll see how the game sells.

Now regarding your next point, you and many others seem to be assuming that removing something automatically equals a lesser quality product. Take the western "Django Unchained" and the Adam Sandler move "Hateful 8", for example. Two very different audiences. One movie is respected a lot more than the other. What if there was a scene from Hateful 8 in Django unchained, in order to appeal to a certain audience? Would it have decreased the quality of Django? Many critics would have said yes, I'm sure. Now, I'm sure I don't need to tell you who this minigame was meant to appeal to. Do you think that, perhaps there is another audience who doesn't like that sort of thing in their games? And that Nintendo would rather appeal to that group, for whatever reason?

Now, as for for your final paragraph, I did say that there is nothing wrong with voicing you're opinion. But to the people saying that they DESERVE equality, I am pointing out that that's untrue. Nintendo does not OWE them anything, because they haven't paid yet, there is no garuntee that they would have paid if there had not been content removed, and if this upsets them, then they can choose NOT to buy it. There's the entitlement. And if you are upset by this, I encourage you NOT to buy it, and to say so, because that will carry a lot more weight, though I highly doubt this will hurt the sales.

And, as has been pointed out before, this isn't really censorship. The company that developed, paid for, and owns this game decided to remove something to appeal to a different audience. You can express you're dissapointment all you want, but to feel that you are owed something by them is only hurting the people who feel that way. I'm not sure what you mean when you say I'm the entitled one. You seem to think that I'm defending cencorship, which I'm not. I have kept my personal opinion out of this for the most part. "On the side that doesn't get the shaft"? I don't know where in my comment I said what side I was on.

Now you can call me pro-censorship, or an apologist, or whatever else, but I think a lot of people who are angry over this should try to see it from another angle.

Because, it's one thing to dislike a change, and voice your opinion, but some of the comments I've seen in this thread really are over the top. What are these people contributing to the game, aside from the desire to buy it and the 40 bucks to buy it with? If they no longer want the game after the content has been removed, no one's forcing them to buy it. They haven't paid for it yet. They didn't pay for the game to be made. The people who designed and/or paid for the game made the decision to remove things.

It's not even censorship, really. Nobody forced Nintendo to remove the content, they did it themselves, and they can because they own it.
And of course I understand why some of these people said the things they did. If this had been a feature in the game that I cared for, I might have quickly typed up an angry comment in a rage, but if I thought about it a bit more before I typed, I could have stopped myself, and I'm hoping some of the people here think about this a bit more as well.

@ikki5 In response to your comment #100,
Yes, there are problems, but I hope that you, and some of the other people in this thread, can see the more important, underlying problem in this case, and that would be the entitlement of the fans. Like I mentioned above, the fans who want to buy this game haven't even paid for it yet, but many are absolutely outraged at the removal. Doesn't that seem odd? And it happens all the time. The people who own the game made the removal, and THEY are perfectly entitled to.

And the people who feel that Nintendo is "babying them" when this sort of thing happens, I have to assume that they really just do not get it. They think that Nintendo is doing this because they care what content is suitable for their customers? While I can't read the minds of the localization team to see the real reason for the removal, this minigame was almost certainly removed to make it more appealing to a general audience, thus making Nintendo more money, and as the owners of the game, and the ones who funded it, they have every right to do so.

But, anyway, I know some people feel strongly about this, and I'm not trying to attack anyone. This is just kind of the way it is.

Take a look at my previous comment. You probably own a smartphone. Really, wouldn't it be SIMPLER to just tap a "nintendo button" that replicates the 3ds home screen on your phone? All you would need is a "3ds grip" your phone attaches to with a second screen and buttons. While that may be a bit pricey, it would be cheaper than a 3ds, and then everyone saves money.
And , most phones are more powerful and have a better display than a 3ds, so that's a plus.

I partly agree with you, however I don't think Nintendo should just go 3rd party. They would be viewed as a failure like when Sega did. Rather, stay in the competition. They can even release their own "handheld" or "console", because , what are the reasons people would prefer a dedicated system? Controller, UI , dedicated online shop, that kind of thing. Most of those could be achieved digitally on a phone.
Take the ps vita for example (only because it is more in the shape of a phone than the 3ds). Couldnt the "ps vita" be achieved with a high quality grip for your phone that had a back touch pad, that came with a download of the ps vita UI? And then, when you want some console games , you just slip your phone into a cradle hooked to your tv and use a downloaded ps4 interface. All you would need is a controller, and you've got an all in one console that saves Sony the cost of producing machines and saves you the cost of buying them.

Exactly. If nintendo released all their handheld games on smartphone, they wouldn't really need a dedicated device anymore. And the smartphone would probably be more powerful too. It saves Nintendo so much mine, and WHAT would be the downside?
and Quality wouldn't be an issue if the game is identical to what they release on 3ds.

You say that Nintendo doesn't care about their fans because they left the Wii u to die, and because they neglect series that don't sell well. Don't you think maybe that's BECAUSE they still want to save the Wii u ? They're making Mario and Zelda games because that's what attracts people to Nintendo systems. I would even argue that that's more for the fans than not. Just look at the hype surrounding the new Zelda. Yes, there are some fans who would prefer a new f-zero, or kid icarus, but the majority of the fans would prefer Zelda. They EXPECT Zelda. Imagine if Nintendo released a fzero for the Wii u but no Zelda. Fans would panic and complain, and say that Nintendo have "forgotten" the series (Just look at metroid for proof of that. It's only been 4 or so years and people are already saying that it's "neglected" like you did) Do really, Nintendo is acually keeping the fans happy by releasing a Zelda every generation. More fans like it, as reflected in the sales figures. Then, when that's covered , they can deliver, say, a new Star Fox. The way I see it Nintendo haven't forgotten the Wii u at all, they're actually doing a pretty good job keeping the dedicated fans pleased.(now virtual console, that's a different story).
Anyway, about the actual article, I've been doing a lot of thinking about this, and my question to the people panicking about this is: what would be the actual DOWNSIDE of Nintendo DID release all of their 3Ds/future handheld games on phones as well? What's ONE?

The title seems a bit misleading. Reading the quote he's saying that he "would love to have Call of Duty on our platform" and "I would love to have any of the big blockbuster, multi-platform titles".
But then he says that if he had to choose, he would rather Nintendo get their exclusives than the multi-platform titles, so that Nintendo could provide a different experience, instead of a different version of the same thing.

There could be a price cut. OR there could be a highly advertised sale during the Christmas season.
Because anybody who's going to buy one anytime soon would buy it then, and then there can be a price cut mid/later next year, when the reason for the price cut would be the regular reduction of price as the console gets older, instead of "because Microsoft did it".
EDIT: Reading closer instead of skimming, I see that this is what Microsoft is doing, actually. I thought we were talking permanent price reductions. Oops.

I had a gbc game simply called mickey's racing or something like that. I don't know how many have played or remember that game but it's is one of my favorite racers ever, despite the limited technology of gbc. It was kind of a sim/kart racer if i remember corectly. I had as much fun with that old game as any mario kart.

This is awesome! Plus its another ad for MK8, which it needs. I think the people saying it looks out of place have convinced themselves in their minds that it does. Try imagining a couple spikes on the hood and see if that helps.

@ikki5
Well then it's really a question of how smart Nintendo is. After that Smash Bros direct, I think Nintendo are really taking this game seriously. If its released before the holiday, you can be pleasantly surprised. If it doesn't release until 2015, I'll be surprised, but I won't be complaining. Complaining about a company "lying" (like you seem to be doing about VC) makes no sense to me. But I won't get into that.
And about the VC, cheer up! It was really good for a month up until last week, but more GBA games are coming soon, so hopefully it will improve again then.

The GBA game "Nightmare in dreamland" had some good minigames and modes. It had a racing minigame, one that had something to do with bombs, and the best version of quick draw. Those are my favorites.

To those who are saying that this list is disappointing or too short, these are the "biggest games" coming to Wii U, not all the games coming. If none of these appeal to you, there's still a bunch more games coming this year. There's really no need to be so pessimistic.
Anyway, I'm glad Project Cars was on this list. It deserves it.

Has never really been a problem for me. Pretty much every missing Nintendo game soundtrack is on Youtube, so I download them from Youtube and then edit/cut them as needed myself, and then compile them into a soundtrack in iTunes. Takes a couple hours per soundtrack.
