And if you fight them you'll feel drained!
When you're alone and you think you're fine,
They'll leap from the shadows as they cry...

NintyFan commented on 3DS Passes Six Million Sales in Japan:
What a flood of cash! And this is all before New Super Mario Bros. 2 as well. Since the original sold so well on the DS, who knows how high the sequel could shoot for? One thing's for sure, and it's that the 3DS will only perform better as more good games come.

NintyFan commented on Redesigned Wii U Tablet Controller Is Revealed:
The controller looks good to me. I wouldn't have minded circle pads or analog sticks, but I guess analog sticks would be better to handle on a console game. It does look very big, but that's because the picture makes it look so wide. It's likely going to not be so big as it seems once used in person.
What I'm curious about is what that little squre is below the D-pad. I guess those buttons on the lower right corner are for the NFC.

NintyFan commented on Feature: Launching a Console Without Mario:
It's nice to do something different, but the two launches without Mario (Gamecube and 3DS) fell short of what they needed to do to boost Nintendo up. I actually hope that there is a Mario game released alongside the Wii U so that it can ensure that it gets that critical boost that helps it get on to success. It worked so many times before.

NintyFan commented on Review: Mario Tennis Open (3DS):
I'll still get it because I know that I'll be playing random matches now and then like I would with Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Power Tennis. I guess it's not surprising to see such mixed reviews for this game mainly because of no RPG mode, but all I've played of those was the one for Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. Ultimately, all I want is a good Mario Tennis game with all of my favorite characters that I can play anywhere, and Open seems to succeed at that.

NintyFan commented on Talking Point: DS Games Deserve Digital Distri...:
This would be a good idea as some of those games are suprirsingly hard to find these days and that there are a couple like Super Princess Peach and Kirby Squeak Squad that I still haven't played. Thankfully, I own WarioWare Touched and Tetris DS, so those are two rare games I have.
Of course, GBA games should logically be included first and the DS still has some legs, but downloadable DS games would earn Nintendo more cash and it would satisfy collectors and those that missed out as well.

NintyFan commented on Nintendo Still Top of Japanese Charts Despite ...:
You can't dominate forever, unfortunately, so I'm not surprised to see this dip. Still, I'm impressed that Mario Party 9 is doing so well and that Kid Icarus is hanging in there inside the top ten. Before long, Mario Tennis Open will be joining that list.

NintyFan commented on If Only This F-Zero 3DS Advert Was Real:
A new F-Zero would be great and should happen someday, whether it was for the 3DS or Wii U. After Kid Icarus, I wouldn't like any other series to contiue to be dormant.

NintyFan commented on Nintendo Japan Discontinues Aqua Blue 3DS:
They must think they have too many colors. I already have an Aqua Blue 3DS, so if they stop production over here in the states too, then my 3DS will feel extra special. I'm satisfied with my Aqua Blue 3DS regardless.

NintyFan commented on Xenoblade and Kid Icarus Missing from NPD's Ap...:
So if this was based entirely on Nintendo consoles, then Kid Icarus would be in the top ten? I'm a little disappointed that most people don't realize just how amazing the game is, but Kid Icarus has been gone for so long that most folks besides me don't know much about the series. That said, I'm glad that Mario Party 9 is in there since I think it's the best Mario Party in years.

NintyFan commented on Kid Icarus: Uprising on SNES Might Have Looked...:
Wow, that's going to be the coolest thing I'll see all day. Kudos to him for putting the time and effort into it. The air level pixels remind me of the kind of style in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. The side-scrolling level with the Reaper looks more SNES. It would be a great idea for there was to be a 2D Kid Icarus in the not-too-distant future.

NintyFan commented on Feature: Kid Icarus - Nintendo's Next Big Fran...:
Totally agree with everything this article said. Kid Icarus released in the same time period as Metroid and Zelda, and yet it still didn't get much attention. I believe if it had been given the same love as the other big games back then, it would be right up there with them today.
However, I think it's safe to say that Kid Icarus will not be left behind ever again. There will be another game in the future. I would gladly collect more AR cards if they were sold in stores and have a figurine collection. It has the potential, and Nintendo should keep it up so it can become a true franchise.

NintyFan commented on Feature: The Magic of Console Launches:
Hopefully Nintendo will have a good line-up of games all set and ready to release alongside the console, but it wouldn't matter one way or the other because I should get this for Christmas. I think E3 will shed a lot of light and get the hype started. We know so little about the console after all.

NintyFan commented on Rumour: Retro Studios Preparing Star Fox Wii U...:
I remembered a rumor last year in which it said that Retro Studios was making a game for the Wii U, so I checked out my comments list. Sure enough, it was back in April 20, 2011. I don't remember where the rumor came from, but a rumored Retro game was brought up before.
Of course, it would only make sense for Retro to make a new game for the Wii U eventually, but the question is what kind of game? I'm going to keep my expectations low for the big day.

NintyFan commented on Rumour: Retro Studios Preparing Star Fox Wii U...:
I've hinted before that since the Wii U charging cradle rumor that more rumors would pop up, and now I stand corrected. Let the stream commence.
Still, I can definitely see Retro Studios work on Star Fox, as it would be a great fit for them. They're already used to the science-fiction genre with the Metroid Prime series, and they got their sense of animals from Donkey Kong Country Returns, so put those two together and you get Star Fox. E3 will shed the light over whether this is ultimately true or false.

NintyFan commented on Rumour: This is Wii U's Controller Charging Dock:
A charging cradle worked well for the 3DS, so obviously the Wii U will have a similar counterpart. The appearance of this rumor reminds me of the stream of rumors that appeared before E3 last year. Could rumors pop up again before E3 this year?

NintyFan commented on Sakurai: Dual Analogue Control in Kid Icarus: ...:
With all the control options offered to play around with, there should be no excuse for someone complaining about the controls. They do take getting used to, but you should have it down after Chapter 2 or 3. Kid Icarus Uprising is a fast-paced game, and it takes tight controls to get a hold on things.

NintyFan commented on Dress Up and Win at Kid Icarus Event:
Last Halloween, I went dressed as a Greek senator with a black toga and golden laurel crown, but if I had black angel wings, black hair, and brown eyes, I would've looked just like Dark Pit. Cosplaying can be fun if you really do look like it.

NintyFan commented on Feature: Three reasons Why Mario's Next Advent...:
I would love a true New Super Mario Bros. 2, but there's one game that's making such a dream game an iffy wish: Doki Doki Panic. Japan already had their real sequel to Super Mario Bros. in The Lost Levels, while Doki Doki Panic was the same game as the western Super Mario Bros. 2 only with completely original characters. If there was to be some kind of new installment to the Mario name that was inspired by the western SMB2, then Japan would have to either have a new Doki Doki Panic or they would finally get to play our SMB2. It gets really complex.
However, Nintendo embraced Birdo, Shy Guys, Pokeys, Ninjis, and other enemies into their games, most notably the Yoshi series and spin-offs. They even had Wart appear as a NPC in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Nintendo must apparently like our Super Mario Bros. 2 somewhat. If Nintendo could work out the complexities of Doki Doki Panic and make a SMB2 sequel, it would be pure nostalgia candy.

NintyFan commented on Wii U Designed to Do The Impossible:
The NFC is definitely a step-up from the Wii, and it'll be interesting to see how such technology works at this year's E3. That panoramic view that a video showed a while ago only shows one mechanic the Wii U can do. The touch screen itself has the potential to shake things up with the gameplay, so that's something to learn more about too. It's going to be an exciting new console.

NintyFan commented on Iwata: "Overwhelmingly Rich" Wii U Launch Line...:
I'm sure Nintendo is too busy to have a huge line-up of launch games, but as long as top-sellers like Mario launch with the Wii U, then that should get things started right. E3 feels so close yet it's only the first of May.

NintyFan commented on Warren Spector Believes Epic Mickey is 'The Be...:
Epic Mickey looks great, no doubt about that, but I don't think it's the best looking of all the Wii games. Still, the real story here is that the team seems committed to improvements with the sequel, and it'll easily be better than the original. Full voice acting, songs like from classic Disney movies and cartoons, and co-op play should make this game even better. I already enjoyed Epic Mickey, so if The Power of Two is even better, then that's wonderful news.

NintyFan commented on More Mario Tennis Open Details Served Up:
Looks like some of the new characters are basically alter egos of other characters (Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Dry Bowser) so I hope more individual characters like Luma are included. I'm interested in a Wario outfit and a Donkey Kong suit, so there's going to plenty of customizable goodies to play around with.

NintyFan commented on Nintendo Still Has Secret 3DS Games to Reveal:
WarioWare 3DS, anyone? How about Zelda or Donkey Kong? In fact, how about all the above?!
WarioWare especially needs to happen, since those games are always excellant in showing off what a Nintendo console can do. Usually one releases early in a console's lifespan, so I'm surprised there hasn't been one already, but I guess it's better late than never. There has usually been a new WarioWare every two years since 2003, so since D.I.Y. was in 2010, 2012 would be a good time for a new one.

NintyFan commented on Talking Point: Does Nintendo Finally 'Get' Dig...:
I'm going to stay with physical copies, because I'm sure it would take a lot of memory to download an entire retail game. Not only that, but I also like to have a box to have some fanfare with my purchase. Getting Kid Icarus Uprising and seeing the character faces in the spaces in the box only reinforced this.
Still, I'm glad that Nintendo is allowing this option to please those willing to download and to have both options coexist together to please everyone.

NintyFan commented on Analyst Calls for Mario on Non-Nintendo Platforms:
No. We've all heard this before, and Nintendo eventually gets back up and running to the point where such a radical move wouldn't be needed. Mario and company are on Nintendo consoles to stay. That's it, and nothing more.

NintyFan commented on Talking Point: A Big Year for Nintendo:
The loss doesn't bother me one bit. It was a stumble and nothing more, and whether you like the game or not, New Super Mario Bros. 2 is going to make Nintendo big bucks that will contiue to allow Nintendo to rise above from early last year.
They must be playing safe with the Wii U because they don't want to get too cocky, and sometimes being cautious isn't a bad idea. As long as a Mario game and other popular games release on the launch date or soon afterward, the Wii U should sell well. With NSMB2 to back it up, the 3DS will contiue to do well this fall and winter. Don't forget that games like Luigi's Mansion 2 that we haven't heard about in a while will likely release later this year too.

NintyFan commented on Sakurai: Smash Bros. to 'Change Direction a Li...:
@C-Olimar: Good point. If they want 3rd party characters, at least have the ones with some kind of history with Nintendo, and Mega Man would be the most acceptable for me because of his strong presence on Nintendo consoles since the NES. What I fear is that if they allow too many, it wouldn't be about a Nintendo character all-star bash anymore. Thankfully, I think Sakurai is smart enough to know that.

@DeMoN-13ruce: What, don't like the trophy idea? It would get expensive buying all those trophies, but what if they just restricted it to fighters? I just want the Wii U version to use the NFC in some way.

NintyFan commented on Sakurai: Smash Bros. to 'Change Direction a Li...:
I'm glad that he wants to change things up a little rather than just add a bunch of new content. It'd be a cool idea if the Wii U version was like Skylanders and have "trophies" that you can scan to have the characters appear in the game using its wireless powers. Otherwise, I would like to have better online, a better adventure mode, and more awesome music. Some more characters would be fine, but I hope they don't add too many 3rd party ones if there will be a few.

NintyFan commented on Nintendo Sets 10 Million Wii U Sales Target:
If Mario is a launch title and there are a few very good 1st and 3rd party titles coming out for it as well, the Wii U should easily go through that estimate. Maybe Nintendo wanted to predict that number so they wouldn't be overconfident and think it'll go higher?
If it has a reasonable price, I hope to be among those that help them reach that target.

NintyFan commented on Nintendo Posts First Annual Loss in 30 Years:
Considering that Nintendo has been around since the late 1800's and that 30 years ago they were fresh from a strong arcade game in Donkey Kong, there's nothing to make hay over. With all the money that they've put into their bank account, Nintendo's good for most of this century if they kept reporting losses, but Nintendo should get right back on its feet with the 3DS gaining steam. Actually, not getting a loss for 30 years sounds really good.

NintyFan commented on Worldwide 3DS Sales Reach 17 Million:
New Super Bros. 2 ought to get some 3DS systems flying off shelves again. I'm somewhat surprised that Japan is outperforming North America in sales. I guess it must be that they are more excited about getting it biggest games and that they have a lot more variety in picking different system colors and designs.

NintyFan commented on Feature: Nintendo Banks on Its Old Money Makers:
I think a strategy (and I won't say "the" strategy since I don't know what Nintendo's intensions are) would be that they are making these Mario games early so that they will sell for a long time, allowing Nintendo to focus their mind and resources on other series games and the Wii U. It would also get Nintendo back on their fiancial feet as was already mentioned. It sounds like a smart plan.
Besides, it's not like Nintendo's going bankrupt. Just read that one article about the money they've put into the bank over the years that is good for most of this century. They stumbled, but are not stumped, and so Nintendo wants to take away the impression that they are still stumbling by releasing some heavy sellers in these Mario games. Once most agree that Nintendo's back in shape, they could foucus on other franchises to please fans. After all, Nintendo is a business.
