I'll definitely be getting that shnazzy boxed copy. But I'm still utterly confused about exactly what Super Luigi U is. Are the levels new? Or are they just new takes on old levels? And if they are just new spins on old courses, what does that mean? Are they harder? Just more tooled to Luigi?
I feel like Nintendo has given zero direction on this.
I'm actually very disappointed. I'm an Insomniac fan as well as a Nintendo fan. I've always respected them as a dev, so this is extremely disheartening to me.
@Dpullam Definitely agreed that SSB is at its best locally. But if you're like me and all your friends and family hate Smash Bros., online's pretty important.
Sad to hear. NFC should be the last thing on Nintendo's "priority" list. I don't want to buy stupid little figurines for in-game content. What's next, having to buy figures to unlock Smash Bros. characters?
@ThomasBW84 Sorry! I deleted that comment right after I made it because I was in error. Can't believe you actually saw it! I was simply referring to Bit.Trip's tweet about the game being available in 19 hours. I thought this article was referring to this whole gig being a rumor but it clearly says "Confirmed." Like I said, my mistake.
@GeminiSaint You make a good point, but you still would have to go ammo mining which is a serious pain in the rear.
I want to clarify, once again--I love Mega Man 2 and think it's an amazing game. It's just that one stage where I have some serious issues, mostly stemming from some terrible childhood memories of rage and anguish.
@CanisWolfred So you walk into the room and there's a whole bunch of cannons on the wall that rip into you every couple of seconds. You have to destroy them all. Fair enough. It doesn't help that there's like 5 Sniper Armor's outside the room but whatever.
Point is, you can only use Crash Bombs to destroy the cannons and that's pretty screwed up in more ways than one. Firstly, if you didn't know that you need Crash Bombs ahead of time and used some earlier, you're screwed. You either have to die and restart or go ammo mining which sucks. Then on top of that, there's really only a couple ways to go about getting the cannons because you have the blow up a couple of the walls too. And those "ways" aren't really what you'd call "easy."
First of all, it's hard to even distinguish how the heck to go about doing it because you can't pause and take a look to map out a plan. I had to take a picture of the screen when I played the game and spend five minutes mapping out a plan. And then you have to execute that plan in one shot, or else, once again, you're either gonna go mining or you just have to suicide.
So basically you have know somehow ahead of time you need Crash Bombs, know somehow what walls you can and can't destroy without spending too much ammo without pausing, and you have to do it perfectly in one shot or else you're either going all the way back or grinding. Poor game design.
Don't get me wrong, I love Mega Man 2--But that boss always gets me riled up.
Mega Man 2 is less than perfect. It definitely has its share of poor game design flaws (Boobeam Trap, anyone?). It's still an NES legend, though. I'd be more inclined to give it something more like an 8.
Kirby's Epic Yarn really bored me to death, so I'm kind of worried about this one. Especially since Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite games of all time.
This is amazing news. In my humble opinion, the original Japanese voices are almost always superior to the American ones--The soon-to-be-out Ni No Kuni for PS3 is going to feature this, and now this game. Thrilled to hear it, and personally I think it should be a feature in most every Japanese-made game that has a lot of VA work.
I have issues with the whole idea of, "Well it's on a portable system so we need to make it more bite-sized and dumbed down." My idea of advancing portable games is making them closer and closer to console experiences. Sticker Star should have been as close to a full blown RPG as they could push the 3DS.
Core gamers like us don't need to be "convinced." Give us good games, and we will come. So on one hand, I agree with this guy, in that, Nintendo might continue to want to preach to the mainstream since the core gamers don't need to be preached to...On the other hand it almost sounds like he's saying that Nintendo should ditch the core audience entirely which is messed up on every level.
I have zero problem with this. I would never buy a retail game in downloadable form. Having physical copies is the way to go. As for download-only titles, 32G should be a great start. If I need an external later on, so be it--But I don't see it as being a problem.
