NinjaTendo commented on Review: Blaster Master (Virtual Console / NES):

I remember playing this game with my friend, swapping the controller back and forth occasionally, during summer vacation one year. I think we were something like 75-85% through the game when one of us accidentally bumped the NES and the game froze and refused to unfreeze!!! I remember loving this game but I don't know if I have it in me to go back to that game - I still feel cheated by all that wasted time.

NinjaTendo commented on Talking Point: How Does The DSi LL Compare To ...:

Is anybody else getting flashbacks of what happened to the GameBoy brand near the end of its life? Four different versions of the GBA alone: Original wide GBA, 1st gen clamshell with frontlighting, GameBoy Micro, and the 2nd gen clamshell with backlighting. Nintendo is all about small, incremental upgrades to its systems. Remember how small of a leap the original GameBoy was to the GameBoy Color? Personally, I'm hoping they'll bring back the "third pillar" of the company, the GameBoy, maybe with a high-resolution display (ala iPhone and PSP) and much greater horsepower. Theoretically, I think it could co-exist with its dual-screen brother, as long as they gear the GameBoy towards hard-core gamers, maybe to compete better against the PSP and iTouch/iPhone. Plus, the GameBoy name would resonate more with those 20 to 30-something gamers who grew up with a GameBoy in their hands.

NinjaTendo commented on It's Official: Big-Screen DSi LL is Confirmed:

I think I'll wait for them to beat the living daylights out of the DS brand and they release something new under a resurrected GameBoy moniker. I still have my DS lite and saw no real reason to upgrade to the DSi and there is still no reason to upgrade to the DSi LL since there in no increase in resolution. I don't like to see individual pixels and I don't know why Nintendo thinks we want to. Why couldn't they implement a higher resolution screen for developers to program for and just upscale the original/current DS games... Nintendo, I love you but you're losing it.

NinjaTendo commented on What Capcom games do you want to see on the Vi...:

@ Sonic&tails1 – I suppose an invincibility cheat is a pretty good reason to get that version (if only my cheat device that I had for the GC still worked for the Wii). Yeah, $40 is kind of a lot for a GC game that old, although I have seen it for $30 (as well as RE3) on occasion at GameStop.

Duck Tales
Little Nemo: The Dream Master
Mega Man X series
Mega Man 4,5,6,7

As for you folks who want Resident Evil 2, why don't you just pick up a copy for the GameCube (which of course works on Wii)? The N64 version had horribly compressed graphics. Am I missing something?

NinjaTendo commented on Nintendo Confirms Metroid Prime Trilogy For Wii:

Anybody who loved playing any of the Metroid Prime games should pick this one up. We need to show Nintendo that there is a lot of interest in the series and perhaps increase our chances of them releasing a DS or WiiWare sequel to Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission. How about a remake of Metroid II from GameBoy!

NinjaTendo commented on Nintendo Confirms Metroid Prime Trilogy For Wii:

Time to trade in my GC copies of MP1 & 2 as well as MP3 for Wii before the value goes down at GameStop - maybe I'll get enough to buy the 3-pack! The only reason I've waited this long is that I needed solid proof that they would indeed be released in the U.S. I just hope that the version of MP3 packed in is identical to the original release so my existing game saves work on it.

NinjaTendo commented on Capcom Looking To Port More Games To Wii?:

@sirgrim, I totally agree - release Ducktales! As for porting RE5 to Wii, it will soon be a non-issue for me since I've been saving up for quite some time to afford a PS3 (perhaps E3 will bring good news such as a price drop). Though I admit if they used the same engine as they did RE4, I feel like they could make a pretty good port for the Wii.

NinjaTendo commented on Legendary Starfy 101:

It looks like a pretty cool game based on a preview video I've seen. It looks very much like Kirby meets Super Mario World. I just may be willing to part with some of my PS3 savings to get this.

NinjaTendo commented on Nintendo: The Game Boy Advance Is Alive And Well:

I bought the 25th Anniversary GBA Micro near the end of its short life for $99 I think – it is a beautiful little machine. Lately, I've decided to collect a little museum of GameBoy products, one from each generation. I have the aforementioned micro, GBA sp (classic NES version), original GBA (glacier), GBC (atomic purple), GB pocket (red), and the original GB (beige). I'm still holding out for one of the "play it loud" gameboys, a gameboy light (which I'll probably have to get on ebay since they weren't released here) and maybe even a gameboy camera just for fun.

NinjaTendo commented on Seriously Cool Game Boy Timeline:

I just purchased an original beige GameBoy at a thrift store for my mini-collection of GameBoy products, but found out it had massive battery corrosion all on the contacts and circuit board. Since the outside was pretty much unscathed and had no yellowing, I decided it was worth it to try to restore it. After spending over an hour dissolving the corrosion off with white vinegar, I eventually got it back in perfect running operation. Long live GameBoy!

NinjaTendo commented on Game Boy Legacy Revived Via DSi?:

If they do release a VC service for DSi, I might be convinced to buy one. Seeing as how flaky and unreliable developers are about releasing games on the current Wii VC, I wouldn't get too excited. Companies are too greedy and lazy to resolve legal matters to release games with licensed content which are some of the best games. I want my DuckTales, Little Nemo, and TMNT2 for Wii VC! Expect the same disappointment for the DSi VC.

NinjaTendo commented on Original Gameboy turns 20 years old!:

I am hoping that at this year's E3 Nintendo will either reveal a virtual console for the DSi (possible) or reveal a new GameBoy to fill the position of the company's "third pillar" (unlikely) which I don't think the DSi qualifies. I would love to see a return to a single-screen format (possibly touchscreen) with a high-resolution screen (like PSP or iPhone), an analog stick or disc or replace or accompany the d-pad, and of course backward compatibility with all GB games. Having the actual GB slot would be preferential since Nintendo and other developers are so flaky about releasing games on Virtual Console. Don't let the GameBoy name die, Nintendo!
