@gloom At least for the city it's quite a bit to load. There are no loading times no matter how far you drive. It only loads when you progress in the story. It's bad though, like Skyrim on Xbox. @SCAR392 I think maybe the Spring update was for the OS and bringing the system up to speed. Maybe the summer update will focus on software performance. I don't know about the numbers because none were official to begin with but it's not impossible. My CPU on PC clocks down when I'm not gaming. If there's truth to this it does make sense. Nintendo knew they didn't have a strong launch but they did get a decent start (around 4 mil) and it needed to be released before nextbox or ps4. No matter how much testing is done by Nintendo, consumers give the system the real test. I'm guessing it passed as they are now bringing it up to speed. The entire design of the hardware is very new for consoles even pc's just got gpgpus a couple years ago. It's very capable and developers are learning...except DICE who I'm thinking EA has paid to not even try...oh well EA makes crap anyways and they will hurt not making games on Nintendos.
@GN004Nadleeh hmmm please look at 3ds sales for the fiscal year those titles released. If the wii u can increase sales by anywhere close to that it will beat Nintendo's sales forecast...and put wii u on top like its predecessor. Also 3ds sales are still sky high. How many months on top now?
@IxnayontheCK no you're not. I love galaxy 1 and 2 but I think its silly to release a third especially when you're trying to convince the world this is a new Nintendo system. Continuing the wii mario games counters that. I'd like to see a return to the mushroom kingdom in beautiful hd. If they do continue something they should keep making mario games the best looking on the system. Galaxy looked so good, sunshine before that, mario 64...really show off the wii u. Also I think christmas is a better time with wwhd in fall and possibly karts. There's some mighty fine Nintendo titles on the way. They should release it the same day as ps4 lol
This is good though. Iwata has a very good point regarding latency issues... @aphughes Just because he doesn't want cloud gaming yet doesn't mean that Nintendo isn't working on anything for save games and NNid cross platform. I think the latter is very much in the works. Miiverse is in the works for 3ds already and vc will cross soon. They will have to use a cloud for that...be patient the nnid and miiverse are still very young and I think Nintendo is doing a great job for being so new to this.
Agreed. I'm so happy the Nintendo doesn't rush trying to put out a new entry every year no matter what the franchise (looking at you CoD). Nintendo gives there games plenty of time in development and that's why we still play games that came out over 25 years ago. On the software end...change nothing Nintendo. I'd rather wait for a complete game running smooth that to have a game come out to be patched every other week for 5 months and experience downtime or bugs as a result.
I think it's a good thing. Nintendo directs have a lot of info that is well edited and fit to a reasonable time frame. Also it comes directly to the console. There should be an ND Community in Miiverse...Aside from that meeting with developers behind closed doors allows more communication of ideas and technologies. Wii U is an amazing system. I think that showcasing new games and ideas to a smaller audience allows devs and pubs to get answers to their questions and more direct information. Publishers, developers, investors and consumers all look at video games quite differently and I think trying to talk to all those people at once can sometimes distort or blur the message. Speaking to those groups individually however Nintendo can get a clearer, more direct message to 3rd parties.
@SteveW Lego City is a lot of fun. It doesn't require much skill or effort but I can lay on the couch and play with my son in the room. He watches and laughs and really enjoys the game. I'd buy GTA V but have to play when he's away. Some games are for kids. Some games are for adults. Consoles and handhelds are about games...of all types. Wii U, 3ds, 360, PS3, PC all have great games for kids and adults. Nintendo seems to be able to produce games suitable for both...Zelda, Mario and SSB to name a few.
@ULTRA-64 If you haven't played it this game is awesome. Too new to be called classic but easily the best looking on the console and extremely fun to play. Easily the best racing experience on a console in a while and considering the last few nfs games...this one stands out and will be a classic for the console.
New console games will barely rival pc games from last year graphically and I have yet too see a game need 8 gigs while running windows which consoles obviously won't. For a console, for nintendo and for awesome games wii u is enough for a few more years.
@DerpSandwich In case you haven't seen the explosion of MiiVerse activity for Monster Hunter...it's crazy. Anyone willing to give this game one hour will play for 100. That's a system mover for sure...you will NPD for March. Monster Hunter is the RPG on Wii U right now so there's that many million RPG players.
Lego City is a family friendly game with great depth for anyone wanting a relaxed gaming experience. As much as I love MHU I still break for games I can play relaxed and chill like I will be doing with Lego City next month. And kids will want to play Lego City, parents will buy a Wii U if they don't have one.
Mario Kart and I'm guessing a new 3d Mario will be ready for 2013 as we haven't heard much from them for a while now. Those two games will sell 1 million consoles at least...check the history. Pikmin 3 I would guess to move at least half that within 30 days...I'll be picking it up. Also Pikmin was a very high selling gamecube title...many people love it.
Wind Waker HD will also sell systems, hell they can bundle it with a gold colored Wii U and I'll buy another one and keep my black deluxe. Also I'm guessing that Wind Waker is going to raise the awareness of a certain new Zelda title that will be your 10 million smash.
Bayonetta 2, Watch Dogs, (currently) Battlefield 4 announced as 3rd party interests for me and E3 isn't even here yet.
Right on...I picked up NFS and MHU this week, my birthday is in a month and I'll be using my eshop card to purchase lego city. No problems here except finding time for anything but Monster Hunter...so f'n dope!
A blast of Wii U and 3ds software is good for Nintendo...good for gamers. Online will be flooded with response and reviews of these games and will only draw the spotlight back toward nintendo...where it should be.
@aaronsullivan Well said sir...I see it happen more to people that dont play video games on dedicated machines. These 'casual' games are highly addicting and really are just mind-numbing. Personally aside from competitive multiplayer if there's not significant depth and a good story I am not interested.
I completely agree. If there weren't video games there would be a lot more young people with nothing to do late at night. I can remember being awake til the sun rises play Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. There's educational value to games as well. Problem solving, Hand-eye coordination, reading, math and even science are tucked away in many video games of all different genres. When talking about kids it's up to the parents to decide if their child is mature enough to handle certain games, just like movies and music. There are ratings and warnings for that very reason. While kids can be influenced by many things committing violent acts is not the fault of the game. It's a game and there's obviously something wrong with anyone that's unable to discern fantasy from reality no matter what the fantasy is. Sometimes the reality is a nightmare and it causes a person to prefer fantasy but again that's not the games fault. Sorry to go on but it just bugs me when blame is shifted to one thing or another instead of just dealing with or admitting that the individual is responsible. Are you going to blame things that can't act on their own and punish everyone that just wants the entertainment.
@AJWolfTill Awesome! I got AC3 though I finished it very quickly. If you're looking for fast paced go with AC3. ZombiU you will want to take a bit slower if you are going to survive. Quite frustrating but a scary good time.
Nintendo is not going to be out of the hardware business anytime soon. At gamestop last week the 15 minutes I spent in the store I saw two new 3ds purchases and one Wii U. The Wii launch was unusual and I would be suprised to ever see something like that happen with consoles again. Wii U had a good push out the gate and sales increase when games increase...it happens with all consoles...except Wii.
@Tsuchiya I'm not angy I just don't understand how Mario expanding is a bad thing. And for @RikuzeYr he just talking. Mario should break through, mix some genres...if you want a truly new, orginial game featuring Mario you gotta break a few bricks...

It doesn't have to change. How would mario being able to jump higher or do more damage as he progresses through the game not be fun? In talking about innovation you gotta try something new.
When I think of genres merged these games come to mind: Elder Scrolls merged action and Open World RPG to make one of the greatest series of all time. Honestly many games use elements from various genres to create gold. You think custom classes were in the first shooter games? I know I couldn't put a different sight on my assault rifle in Goldeneye. Madden used to be pick a team and play football now there's several types of games in each edition packed with customized options and leveling up your superstar.
And straight up platforming is what it is now, why are you talking about needing innovation then talking about going back to its roots. NSMBU is about as rooted as it can be. If you played it then you see what's great from SMB3 and SMW put into one nice looking little game.
Throw some RPG elements in to new 3d mario. Let mario level up some. Give him a jars or pouches to fill up for each of his abilities and let you change on the fly...so long as you have enough 'magic powder' whatever in those jars. Strengthen up some enemies to take more than one fireball. This could work in a 2d mario too though I would rather see it happen in 3d. Bring some more action RPG element to Mario n freshen it up a bit. I can see Mario triple jumping over bowsers head while slinging a massive fireball at the back of his head...anyone with me on this?
They should subtract the number of dead consoles from each and i guaruntee wii is on top if not double sales. I dont know anyone that hasn't had to purchase a second one at least.
@rastamadeus my thoughts exactly...ps3 will have title til 2015 and xbox til 2014 at least. @Ras the motion controls feel more natural as you progress through the game but I definitely need to sit up n play. I felt like you did when I started the game but playing through a second time after a long hiatus they feel very good again and I'm shredding enemies.
@3Daniel I agree with you 150%! Ubisoft really hurt a lot of people looking forward to that game...I'm betting at least 25% of Wii U owners would have purchased this game so holding off selling about a million copies makes business sense how?....
Well Ubisoft you are a stranger to me now. It's gonna take more than AC4 for me to ever look in your direction again. I just traded AC3 for Sonic Racing...much better now that no Ubisoft titles disgrace my library. You really think you're going to compete and get better sales in September? Have you even seen what's going to be released at that time? Ubisoft just flushed the toilet they were floating in.
