NotEnoughGolds commented on Review: Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (Nintendo 64):

I have this and Turok 2.
Turok 2 is a much better game, but the controls are just impossible to get used to now.
Last time I tried playing it, I got through the first three or four levels and still found the controls awkward.
If Turok 2 got an HD remake, I'd be so happy.

It's a simple fact that used games are beneficial to everyone, including publishers and console manufacturers. Any economist would agree, but apparently Microsoft didn't hire one of those.

People who buy new games, then sell them, are getting money to buy more new games. Used games buyers won't suddenly increase their budget to buy the same amount of games new instead of used, they'll simply buy fewer games.
The new games buyer who can't sell his games, likewise, will not increase his budget by the amount for which his games would have sold - he will simply stop buying.

I don't understand all the doomsday stuff regarding Nintendo.
Yes, they've lost money this year.
Yes, their projected profits were reduced from 1+ billion to 284 million.

Sony lost a billion dollars in the PS3's first year. They lost money for the next 3 years. XBox 360 lost money for Microsoft in the first few years.
Nintendo lost a whole bunch of money from the Virtual Boy fiasco.

Nintendo has plenty of money, and plenty of future profits. They are not in trouble. Also, the 3DS will easily recover when it finally gets some AAA titles.

Me too.
I hope that camera spinning thing is an option, because I have no trouble telling left from right no matter what direction the car on the screen is facing.

NotEnoughGolds commented on Review: Faxanadu (Virtual Console / NES):

Aw, I'm disappointed. I was hoping for at least a 9, but I'd give it a 10.
This and The Guardian Legend are the best games on the NES imo.

Also this game was published by Hudson Soft/Nintendo, developed by Hudson Soft, and Licensed by Nihom Falcom.

Apart from the mixed reviews, it's also a short game with little replay value (unless you're one of the few that decide to be bold and take on the harder difficulty).
I bought the game of course, but if I wasn't a die-hard Nintendo/Metroid fan, I would say it's not worth more than a rent. I need to have it in my collection, but most players would benefit more from renting it, beating it, and returning it.

NotEnoughGolds commented on Three More Virtual Console Titles Incoming:

I love that when Faxanadu is announced, people immediately mention The Guardian Legend and Crystalis.
Are we some sort of weird cult that loves these three games?
Anyway, <3 Faxanadu, great game, everyone here should dl it. I will also be saddened if it doesn't get a 9/10 on this site.

To this bit, though: "so there might be a few spots where you will have to grind on enemies before you're strong enough to continue."
The EXP system in Faxanadu is nothing like Zelda II. It only determines your "title" and how much gold you start out with the next time you die or load the game from your mantra. Your stats are based purely on the equipment you are using.

NotEnoughGolds commented on E3 2010: Best of E3 Awards:

I know that no one will ever read this, but I had to point out why the reader's choices appear to be "contradictory."
When you allow readers to choose best Wii game, best handheld, and best overall, it's definitely possible to get 3 different games, even if the best overall game must be the same as one of their other picks.
Consider that letters are Wii games, numbers are handheld games, and each column represents different voters.
Wii: A B A B B
HH: 1 2 2 2 1
O/A: A 2 A B 1
Best Wii game: B
Best Handheld: 2
Best Overall: A

NotEnoughGolds commented on Nintendo Doesn't See an Immediate Need for a N...:

@Nintendoftw: We Nintendo fans here at Nintendolife really don't believe the Wii is horrible or a failure. What makes you say that?
I couldn't find more than a few games worth purchasing for the Gamecube, but I have almost 20 games for the Wii, and I've sunk another couple hundred into WiiWare and Virtual Console.

Anyway...
With so many huge releases coming so close together (SMG2, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Metroid: Other M, Skyward Sword), it's tough to imagine that Nintendo isn't just winding down here. I really don't think that once these are out that they'll be developing a new game in each franchise for the current console.
I'm guessing that a new console will be announced early 2011 and will be released by the holidays.

NotEnoughGolds commented on E3 2010: Metroid: Other M Trailer:

@6 - Well, the song should at least be in the cutscene where Samus fights Mother Brain. I believe that was where this song played in Super Metroid.

Edit: Actually I think it also played during the Kraid and Ridley fights.

NotEnoughGolds commented on E3 2010: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword:

@Burny:
I don't have WSR. I was basing it on my experience with Red Steel 2, which cannot be played sitting down.

No force detection would make it better for Zelda, but I'm still concerned at having to do stuff like bowl bombs. If the game frequently requires full range of motion, it's going to be tough to play it whilst sitting down.
