MegaAdam commented on Review: Tested With Robots! (Wii U eShop):

Everyone complained that Nintendo's standards for developers were too strict. So they did what everyone wanted to do, and greatly loosened them.

This is the result. Cheap, terrible games flooding the eShop and crowding out the quality. Honestly, I liked it better when every game that was released had a basic floor of quality.

MegaAdam commented on Talking Point: Nintendo Brings Life to the 3DS...:

You can't honestly think they'll keep both old 3DS, old 3DS XL, 2DS, new 3DS, and new 3DS XL on the market all at once, can you? No, the old models are going to be replaced, and if you want them, you should get them now.

It's surprising to me that they're announcing this so early, because I'm not sure who will buy the old version knowing these are on the way. It could definitely hurt their holiday sales.

MegaAdam commented on Talking Point: The Wii U eShop is Raising Toug...:

It's funny, because last generation, the criticisms were all from developers who insisted the Wii Shop and DSi Shop needed to be more open and accessible to small developers.

We can't have it both ways. I would personally love to see only games of some quality make it through, but who is to be the judge?

MegaAdam commented on Review: Mach Rider (3DS eShop):

Didn't they add the ability to save custom courses on the Wii VC releases of Excitebike and Wrecking Crew? Seems like they could have done the same here.

MegaAdam commented on GameSpy Shutting Down All Online Servers on 31...:

@MussakkuLaden FYI, DJ Hero's DLC has been taken down by Activision.

Otherwise, as far as we know, you should still be able to access the Wii Shop Channel and purchase DLC. No guidance has been given otherwise. I know FFCC:MLaaK and MLaaD are not on the list of games whose services are being shutdown.

MegaAdam commented on Review: Young Justice: Legacy (3DS eShop):

@palatinus This seems to be what obviously happened, and development of the game was interrupted, but then the publisher tried to mitigate their losses by releasing the game as it was still in a middle stage of development, before optimization and bug fixes really began.

MegaAdam commented on Latest Assassin's Creed Announcement Continues...:

Third party publishers are failing to realize that with very few third party games coming to Wii U, there's a void that needs to be filled and they won't be fighting for shelf space and consumer mindshare. That said, I think at this point the best bet for third parties are Wii U exclusives, because the architecture is significantly different from the xboxes and play stations, whose architectures are largely parallel.

MegaAdam commented on Little Inferno Has Sold A Million But Gamers D...:

I think Kyle Gray is missing the point. Works of art and literature rarely have only one level of meaning. Meaning is found by the audience. If the audience sees commentary on global warming, freemium games, video games as a medium, consumerism, or whatever else they see, they're not "missing the message." They're interpreting the work.

The game really is "about" all of those things. It's also "about" the concept of wasting time that the creators intended; but we shouldn't fall into the trap of only analyzing creator's intent.

MegaAdam commented on Soapbox: The Nintendo Wi-Fi Disconnection Remi...:

I totally agree. I hate that games now aren't complete out of the box; and that hey will one day (in the relatively near future) be rendered obsolete. Sports titles these days often have their servers deactivated in little more than a year, and unpopular titles can shut down even sooner.

Meanwhile, all of my games from the GameCube era and before still play exactly as they did the day I got them. Funny that.

However, this deactivation is making me plot some epic Wii and DS online gaming in the near future.

MegaAdam commented on Review: Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (3DS eShop):

I think the criticism of the small screen is overblown. SMB Deluxe had a ton of new content, which was the real meat of the package and greatly increased the replayability. I raced those Boos for hours; if I recall, once you beat one, you get a new, faster Boo that's a different color to race.

8/10, easy, if not 9.

MegaAdam commented on Talking Point: NFC And The GamePad Can Succeed...:

Make a Pokemon version of Skylanders. Money. Printed. Especially with the NFC capability in the GamePad, I don't know why they didn't go further than with a mediocre game like Pokemon Rumble U. They need a full blown Pokemon title of some sort on Wii U with the toys to match. That will be money.

Not that that is something I would like personally, but with a bit of a marketing push, it would sell phenomenally. And they need to get in before the market is totally saturated.
