MathRaph commented on Pokémon Hanafuda Playing Cards Hitting Japan ...:

Little people know that outside of Japan, but Nintendo never stopped producing and selling Hanafuda cards. They're even pretty common.
This looks very cool thought. I like the pop culture figure on the retro classic hanafuda design.

I would really like to see platinum take on a great Wii U metroid game. I love what they did with metal gear this year: classy, over the top, great yet accessible and fun gameplay. It could potentially be was Other M tried to be. And on top of that they've shown multiple times that they can work pretty fast, so it wouldn't be too far off.

And beside that, a 2d one made in-house on 3DS would be amazing.

I have to say that personally, I'm growing out of videogames reviews. I've playing for more than 20 years now, and I feel like I don't really need them anymore. I now have the experience to quickly see if I would enjoy a game, based on some gameplay footage or a studio curriculum. Sometimes I'm wrong, but that's ok. Put it to the side and go back to it later. Still not good? Sell it.
I don't have anything again reviews, I think they are necessary as games can be outrageously expensive passion, there needs to be some sort of guiding. For me, it's a nice way to compare my experience. But sometimes I feel like guys who have played dozens, maybe hundreds of games still put opinions of others over their own personnal perception. They shouldn't. Your money, your collection, your opinions.

MathRaph commented on Nintendo Tested Two Other Zelda Titles in HD o...:

For now, I think making an HD remake of Skyward Sword would make no sense. Nintendo needs to sell the Wii U... aka the gamepad. Skyward Sword is way too tied to the wiimote for that. Wouldn't mind the fantastic art style not being butchered on my HDTV though.
... And I think before any other Zelda remakes on WiiU we can expect Majora's Mask on 3DS. (Next year?)

MathRaph commented on Wii Karaoke U by JOYSOUND to Threaten Neighbou...:

@Emblem I think it's a good thing. One of the pleasures of karaoké is going threw the catalog and sing a song instantly. Having to think "Is it really worth buying?" kind of defeat the purpose in my opinion. My guests shouldn't have to ask me if I can purchase this particular song they want.

MathRaph commented on Talking Point: With Calls for Nintendo to Foll...:

@Sanquine I agree, the (initial) pricetag really broadens the target. I also think the "PS4 on the go" thing for the classic vita is a good idea. It's very nice for people who move around a lot (or got a lot of free time in wifi areas). And as you said, maybe more dedicated games, so It would be good for me in the end , as I mostly play my handhelds on the subway.

This idea comes around a lot, but I honestly think a 500/530$ bundle PS4/VITA would kill all competition (3DS excepted maybe). They would lost a lot of money initially, but man, they would rule the world once again.
But do they even need that? PS4 has such momentum right now. Good for sony, they're doing things right, and the company seems to be in a lot of trouble financially.

MathRaph commented on Talking Point: With Calls for Nintendo to Foll...:

@Sanquine You know, I think the vita is a great system, and compared to any piece of modern tech out there, I think it's very competitive price wise (shame people don't see it that way). So yes, sony has to find money somewhere. One way is to overprice the memory card. Fine. Honestly, I don't care. But you can't say a 16gb doesn't cost 40$. Because they do. What matters is the price on the established shelf, may it be virtual or physical. You can't take deals into account for their business strategy. You paid 20? Great! But 90% will pay 40, so it doesn't matter. At all.

@Sanquine Ergh...You had one for 20 bucks, good for you! But just go to amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.fr, amazon.whattheFyouwant, it's 40.

And for your information, "dude", I own a vita since launch (and a ps3 if that matters to you). "Don't be all knowing" if you don't know me. wink wink

@Mytoemytoe Yes it does. Vita only accept specific sony memory cards, and they cost A LOT.

Honestly, I don't think this vita tv thing will have any positive or negative effect for nintendo's business. It's just sony desperately trying to sell its handled and getting foot in the micro console market, just in case.

@Dreamcaster-X I think they argued in the past that Pokémon was very much a portable experience, mostly because of the local mutliplayer/exchange thing.
But online as come a long way since then, so I guess the argument is not really relevant anymore.
I would also like a full Pokémon game on Wii U, but I think they will go for the Pokémon Stadium model once again... or regular smaller eShop releases on 3DS and Wii U, all tied to Pokémon bank.

I honestly don't care much. I don't even think it's that important for Wii U sales. It would boost sales a bit, sure, but not make it a success.
Did the Wii sell like crazy because of third party support? It was a great, easy understandable and perfectly marketed concept that sold it, not the crappy EA games.

I gave my vote to Mario 3D World, but actually I'm very happy with this line up, with 3 really great looking platformers (including rayman), my favorite Zelda game with nice additions, some interesting indie games (really looking for Scram kitty) and some blockbusters if I'm in the mood (I would have added Batman Arkham Origins to this list though)

@element187 You're right about core. For the rest I'm not sure I completely agree.
Well, I can speak for what I see around me. Here in france, and I'm sure it's the similar elsewhere, I see 14yo buying like 4 games a year, including Call of Duty and Fifa, some guys into playstation first party games (which is a very strong brand here)... and the vast majority playing on smartphones. Everywhere, all the time. I'm not judging, and if I wasn't as much in videogames as I am, I would do the same. A device they already own, 1€ games... Why shouldn't they? It's just good enough. So of course nintendo has a better shot than the others for this market. But at least for now, Apple owns it.
People still want to play games, and that's great. But for now on, it will be very hard to convince them to buy yet another device when they can have fun with what they have.
Local multiplayer could be the answer, I don't know.

@DerpSandwich (oh, so I guess I can't say kick a*s here, funny.)
That's interesting. Do you feel like people have high hopes sales wise for this season? I mean, everyone knows it's important for the future, but let's face it guys, the Wii U is gonna be crushed by competitors. And I love my Wii U, I think it's a great system that is now takin' off software wise. It offers the kind of experiences I'm looking for. But am I, are we, is nintendo in touch with what the market wants? I really feel like most gamers just want perfect deathmatch, bigger explosions and better graphics.
I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of Mario 3d World and DK Tropical Freeze, but for now, there's nothing really "sexy" about those games. No fuzz, it's all about the gameplay. That makes me happy, but that never drove hardware sales.

MathRaph commented on Reaction: Nintendo Surprises Us All With the 2...:

@DerpSandwich Well, I don't know. 300 with a game is surely reasonable to me, but you can't compare Wii and Wii U. The hype around the Wii U is nowhere near the hype around the Wii back then. 200 less than the Xbox one is just perfect, but right now it's all about ps4, which hardware wise has a very much aggressive price than Wii U... and I fear holiday season is going to be very tough, even with the price cut.
Everyone knows that the answer is (at least one) kick donkey game, and I feel like they hope it's going to be the next zelda. Everyone loves this franchise, and they seem very ambitious about the next installment.

I've already said that, but I think it's a perfect version for LITTLE KIDS. Very focused, very nintendo, solves issues and has a popular form factor for this specific market. But come on nintendo, just market this thing correctly! Just look at this feed. Tons of people don't understand it's not aimed to them, just say it clearly! It's for kids! K-I-D-S

@Alshain01 It doesn't matter. Parents won't just take that risk. And the slider argument doesn't work either.
I actually had this argument with my sister when I upgraded to the XL. I wanted to give my original 3DS to my 5yo nephew, and she didn't want me to. Why? "Well, you never know."
Saying "There is not 3d whatsoever in this" is so much simpler than "Hey but if you want you can turn it OFF and lock via parental blablabla"...

If nintendo took some of his precious time to design this, than it's a real issue for them. And it's been from the very beginning.

MathRaph commented on Say Hello To The Nintendo 2DS - A 3DS without 3D:

That was... unexpected... As many other said, it's really kid oriented. The fact that's its not even introduced in a nintendo direct is just another sign that's it's not geared to us AT ALL. "Your kid wants a new nintendo but you're scared about 3D? There you go, it's completely safe, it's cheaper, and it's flat like the ipad mini he wants so much" That's kind of genius actually.

MathRaph commented on Talking Point: The Wii U's Limited Hard Drive ...:

I don't see what's the big deal. I've been playing my 40go ps3 for the last 5 years and there's always been mandatory installs. Yes, it's been kind of a pain in the donkey, having to uninstall things to install new ones all the time, but it never stopped them making that mandatory.
So the problem is the 8go basic model? I taught no one buys this model and nintendo only kept it so they can say "WiiU, starting at 299". I remember reading a report saying that the ration was like 90% premium pack/ 10% basic model.
So really, it don't see where's the problem.

(And quite frankly, if you really care about super hd textures and the likes, maybe a nintendo console is not for you.)
