Frankly, I just want violent video games to be banned already. I mean, GIGO does not apply to just computers and accounting. People put out what they put in. A steady stream of violence would give out the fruit of violence. To continually blame the parents would be overestimating the capacity and reach of parents, underestimating the capacity of children, and underestimating the reach of external sources when outside the vicinity of the child's house (say, at school, the mall, or even at a friend's house!).
If nothing else, a ban on violent video games would reduce (albeit not eliminate, since problems related to sin itself cannot be completely removed by human power) the amount of children cussing at each other through XBOX Live.
To be frank, I think that the Nintendo Café pad is a capitulation to the ever-whiny 'hardcore' crowd... even though the screen is resistive instead of capacitive.
Either way, I saw so much potential... they could even have made LucasArts games into Kingdom Hearts worlds! (Imagine the potential that Monkey Island, Sam&Max, or the Tentacle could have gotten!)
To be honest, given how he seems to be at odds with gamers, I expected people here to CONGRATULATE his death... even saying that he DESERVED to die of cancer!
First someone at Rare wonders why Nintendoo does not simply ask Rare for permission to release Donkey Kong 64. Now Someone (else?) at Rare want to make a true and honest sequel to Banjo Tooie!
I think Rare just wants to be with Nintentoo again... and should be.
I had been reading semi-conflicting reports from two 'video game hierophants': one said that Nintendo is underpowered and limiting potential (see the low strength that Wii has alongside how the FABULOUS graphics on the 3D Pokédex are not present in Pokémon X/Y, alongside how Nintendoo seems to focus on minigame collections, Rhythm Heaven being an example). Another said that Nintendoo is losing due to them wanting to force things THEIR way (for example, 3D Mario even when 2D obviously sells, or again, a puzzelda series when the better game was A Link to the Past), being 'artsy' instead of focusing on what others want. Neither were that good with the Nintendo Café (The second hierophant thought that the Nintendo Café 'gave up' by copying its competition with the GamePad. I forgot what the first hierophant said, but I think that the strength of the Nintnedo Café was also bashed.)
Myself, yet another video game hierophant, think that Nintendoo would be the one who will be the sole game provider eventually, given history.
I feel so bad for Pokémon Crystal and TCG... When I played Pokémon Trading Card Game 2 and saw the in-game Card Pop, I thought that the programmers put in that one because they knew how little people used the IR service, thus the programmers programmed an in-game Card Pop so that everyone would have the experience.
I also remember my Trainer House's opponent getting messed up. I figured that someone who used my GameBoy Color had Mystery Gifted with the TV set (since, even at a young age, I knew that both the TV set and the GameBoy Color used IR).
To be frank, this does right what Phillips (due to the poor quality of the games) and Mike Hoye (due to the gender-flipping being rather shoe-horned) did wrong. Plus, the logic of Zelda being in the title is excellent justification for this hack.
I suspect feminizing protagonists in games would become a meme now.
Frankly, if Super Meat Boy is coming, then why not the protagonists from those PETA Nintendoo parodies? After all, Pokémon Black & Blue got a lot more of response than their previous games, so they would be on equal level with Meat Boy.
Seriously, I am surprised that people are turning from Meat Boy here. I remember when I was essentially the only one who disliked him because he came from Newgrounds...
Also, about 'free,' I think that they were saying that 'You don't have to pay us for the right to use Meat Boy in the next Super Smash Bros!' After all, they would get free advertisement on the same level that Fire Emblem did on SSB2!
1) Was not Crystal MOnsters another POkémon ripoff? 2) To be frank, I actually like 'trying out' ripoffs. (I think such is that, since I like the core concept so much; imitations would not detract me! ...at least I like the infamous Gianna Sisters and the lesser-known Lizzie McGUire 3: Homecoming Havoc...) 3) Whiscat seems to be a Pokéfied Big the Cat (Sonic Adventure). In fact, if I ever get this game, I am going to catch a Whiscat and call him 'Big'.
I am rather hypocritical here. I mean, though I fully support this ban (and even so far to go to actually wish that California put those warning labels or outright bans on violent video games), I played Persona 3 when I was 16. (Even so, to this day, I still do that Evoker movement when others would say 'This is just so full of fail... just shoot me.')
The reason why I am so strict is due to GIGO applying to humans, no matter what their maturity level. (I am evidence to that.)
I hope that they are purposefully keeping Wario a secret, eventually revealing him later on when the game is made. If that is not the case... "yell" at Nintendoo.
In an "Iwata Asks," I heard of something along the lines of: "Give them one, they want two. Give them two, the want up to five." In a gaming site, someone talked about ho gamers are insatiable, citing the examples of the players of that one shooter-rpg hybrid that had controls that were meant to be realistic/challenging, but only frustrated gamers, even when the controls were meant to be that way. I think limited inventory was another cited factor. Lastly, I leave you all with a concrete quote: http://www.geek.com/articles/games/nintendo-expects-gamers-to-supply-a-hard-drive-for-the-wii-u-20120613/#comment-556737154
After reading the comments here and reconsideration, I stand by my views, though I need to clarify my views.
1) I do not care for matte finish or build. I just want a purple colour. 2) I also do not care for resolution. I prefer my DSiLL over the other versions. In fact, I do not care for any "flaw" that the 3DSLL has that is not already present in the DSiLL. 3) I know that the Circle Pad Pro has two extra buttons, thus accentuating my wish for the Circle Pad Pro. 4) Even if the system does not come with an AC adapter, I can go without one; I have a larger-than-normal amount of DSi adapters (that work with the 3DS, by the way). 5) However, Mr. AaronSullivan and ThumperUK-san kinda convinced me on the Circle Pad issue. However, my own belief on the exclusion on the Circle Pad Pro is based on the next point: 6) I do not think that Mr. Miyamoto lied at all. He said that there will not be a 3DS REDESIGN. The 3DSLL is more of a REMARKETING or ADAPTION of the current 3DS model, yet aimed at older people. (After all, save for larger size and the giant stylus, was the DSiLL anydifferent than the DSi?) Adding a by-design Circle Pad Pro to the 3DSLL would not only constitute a REDESIGN, but would also require releasing a regular-sized 3DS with the Circle Pad Pro in order to satisfy the main user base: the gamers. (Recall that the 3DSLL is aimed at older people, while the 3DS proper is for gamers.)
...taking this point, I am now pretty much to terms with the lack of the Circle Pad Pro for the 3DSLL. I am still going to buy a purple one when one comes out, though.
/huge nosebleed/ I was right, especially on there being a 3DSLL! ...now if there was a purple-coloured one with a 2nd Circle Pad (Reading a lot of people's comments on the issue influenced me into caring for the 2nd Circle Pad.), I would so want to buy one for real.
For a while, I thought NintendoLife uploaded old news by accident. I needed to read more to see that the system was going to be releaed in Europe. ...just when I was about to buy a Nipponese version for the Bluetooth keyboad for my tablet...
They Changed This; Now This Whomps. (I am not keen on Minigame Collections... ...though I may buy this anyways to have a complete collection of WarioWare only.)
I was about to decide to get a Purple 3DS, but then I took a bit of research. Apparently, there is a hardware re-design every 2 years. The 3DS has only 1 year of mass-existence. (...not that that should bother me; the better games are coming later.)
@Capt_N You are missing my point. I am saying that Toad's abilities in SMB2USA do not fit Toad's character, so, if there was going to be another SMB2USA-based game, Toad should be replaced with another character whose super strength would actually make sense (for example, Bowser or Wario).
"[T]his could be a substantial warmup for the arrival of Pokémon Black & White 2. " Jes; I had been thinking just that myself, even though that would be a United States release being a warmup for a Nipponese release, so, in reality, the warmup would best affect importers/pirates.
P.S. I find the Rhyperior the more interesting part of the picture here.
I would rather have Bowser (or a totally different character) replace Toad this time around, since Toad having super-strength does not make sense here.
Given how the 3DS is supposedly still selling at a loss and the "danger" of the PSV, I believe that this is intentional. (Then again, I also think that all of this is a coincidence; a lot of Mario titles just happened to be released close to each other.)
I got Sonic Classic Collection, Sonic Gems Collection, and Sonic Adventure DX, so I am set for pretty much every retro Sonic release. Even so, I support pretty much every Sonic re-release, especially since the games I have are on the getting-soon-to-be-retro GameCube.
I still refuse game that require you to actually kill (instead of just knock-out or "disappear" enemies). However, ever since I played that "Hunt Tomatoes" quest (in Final Fantasy Tactics A2) while eating burgers, I allow "purposeful hunting" games. This game is permitted.
"The notion that the most powerful system is automatically the best is a thing of the past." The problem is that a lot of people, apparently, are still in the past.
I have ended up missing the Sonic vs. Mario debate until Pokémon Colloseum (my first full introduction into games in general), yet even I find this odd!
(I only watched some of the Sonic cartoon series and barely knew who Knuckles was. I, however, played Super Mario Land 2 and some Super Smash Bros, but that was it.)
Nintendoo did purposefully restrict the capabilities of the Nintendoo Café (Yes; I am calling Wii U by its prototype name). Some people speculated that this is a move in order for the Café to "catch up" to its competitors later on.
