LAA commented on Microsoft's Ken Lobb: Metroid Prime Wouldn't H...:

@Chriiis Welcome to pure Nintendo fans... ha ha.
I feel Nintendo is more...not caring about the core fans lately and its more about trying to attract everyone with their games/consoles. which most of the time, their games appeal to the core games anyway, so not too bad their, with consoles though, I think they're even giving the mass consumer little credit, acting like internet is still a new thing for example and the account system and etc. They have a lot to work to live up to even their standards, nevermind try and meet core gamers standards.

Er fair enough in a way, but I feel theres a difference between "once in a while" and "never."
Of course Metroid Prime (All of them in fact), ended up being great game, so glad they didn't listen to fans back then if it meant we'd never have got them.

Nintendo however have this trend lately to not listen to fans ever, which more annoys me more than anything. Espicially when what they're doing instead, doesnt make me like them more.
Game wise they can probably afford not to listen as they're proven kings in that area. Anything to do with consoles or software console wise, I think they need to have every possible ear open.

Nintendo? Looking at current trends? I don't think so, ha ha.
The news is disappointing though, the once great Japan gaming nation going to mobile... Though it seems Japan is more of a country into portable gaming, so mobile may just be a platform that suits their culture more.
Just hope it doesnt affect Japanese devs making on consoles/PC, a lot of my favourite games are from japanese devs, would be a shame to see them sacrifice their visions for the mobile platform.

Don't really understand the push to get Nintendo games on mobile...
Who else does it? Sony/MS may make like...mini games essentially to promote the full title, but I don't think Nintendo would like that. I would like to think they would want to put their full effort into every title they make.

Then again, stuff like NES Remix took next to no effort at all and they have the cheek to charge a bomb for it.

I think something like NES Remix would be awesome on mobiles or their classic titles. Making brand new titles for mobile though, I hope not. The most I'd like to see in that area is perhaps some sort of companion app, and even then there isnt much point, its what the gamepad is for.

Instead of pushing for mobile, I'd much rather they be pushed for...region free, account locked purchases, achievements, party chat, messaging, 3rd parties, etc.

LAA commented on Former Sony Developer Feels The Wii U "Won't S...:

Hmm, I think its impossible for a console to outright fail like that.... It will see for another christmas and a few more after that, its more the matter of will it sell more and meet targets, etc., which is the problem.
Seeing the stores I see, its literally one side is dedicated to Playstation, the other side is dedicated to Xbox, and Nintendo stuff just some shelf somewhere, ha ha, so no that isnt a good image, but I feel Nintendo is really aiming at the "Gamers" anymore anyhow, its more the kids and Nintendo fans and they'd find the games they want anyway.

As a Wii U owner myself, theres quite a lot to look forward to for Wii U next year really and probably a lot of surprise games we don't know about yet, its not dead in my eyes and I do have a PS4 and I've played Super Mario 3D World between sessions, so I know it hasnt been completely eclipsed... yet.

I also think the Wii U has a way of getting into gamers hearts from being different... Like getting a PS4 and an X1, I don't think theres much to benefit from there. You get the exclusives from X1 sure, and the other features it has, but apart from that, you're mostly getting the same-ish multi plat games, which seem better on PS4 anyway. A Wii U however offers a completely different experience with unique ways to play games you won't find on PS4/X1, so Wii U has a chance there, though Nintendo should get their head out of their donkey though and actually implement more BASIC online features onto it, then more "Gamers" may be drawn by it.

As for Knack outselling Mario.. A little surprised, but seeing the Wii U life time sales and PS4 48hour sales, not surprising at all really... ha ha. Besides, Knack is pretty good from what I played so far, I think it could be better sure, but I don't think it deserves the scores its been getting, I think is more appropiate, maybe more seeing I havent got to the special knacks quite yet which may introduce some new mechanics....

@Meowgravy Yeah, ha ha, thats the sad thing. Theres such denial here a lot of times and hypocrisy.
All I can say is no wonder the Wii U doesnt get games like this a lot, all fans do is say every game sucks when it doesnt come to system.

@Yosher I do get you, but it shouldnt suprise you either. GTA is the kind of game EVERYONE plays, gamer or not. Same for COD and Fifa in my opinion. Only reason you notice it more is because its not JUST gamers talking about it, or "Typicial gamers" imo.

LAA commented on Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me:

Ha ha, Nintendboys feeling left out and hiding with denial.
While I myself fell out of love for GTA IV and I wasnt even planning on getting GTA V (though I think I would have at this point), if my bro wasnt getting it and videos I've seen online on it changed my view on it, and after playing it, it definitely feels much better than GTA IV and more like the GTA's I enjoyed like GTA 3. Sort of a mix between GTA IV + 3 I feel.

Though yeah, I feel its sad Wii U isnt getting this game, there isnt really any reason I can think of why Wii U cant run GTA V technicually. I think Nintendo have just lost touch with hardcore gamers already, maybe even failed. Sure we have Bayonetta 2 and X on the way, which both look awesome, but they're missing out on these real AAA multi-platform big blockbusters. How can Nintendo NOT be getting GTA V despite being powerful enough to run it, they've just missed out big time, they're not in the world of today's gamers, they really have a lot to make up to me in my opinion.

@Blastoise I'm not saying that Wii U doesnt have the audience that my like those games, I'm one of them! Its just developers (and probably rightly so) the majority of the audience isnt bothered about them. I know its not fair, but its just the way it is. They have to justify that putting it on a platform can get them a profit.

@Shambo I see what you mean, but I think what developers want most if a machine capable of making their vision for a game come true. If the Wii U cant handle that, its not put on the system. Simple as that.
For some game ideas, I think it will wont be on the Wii U simply because of graphical capability, which I dont think will be the reason for a lot of games at the beginning, but later on I think it will.
I think the reason really, is down to a lot of factors. Their eShop is one reason. It simply seems that getting dlc on the eShop is a hastle... Its weird why not much dlc is on their at all. It must be down to Nintendo, otherwise they'd do it a flash.
That along with online capabilities too, theres probably quite a lot of reasons to put them off porting their game to Wii U, though yeah, theres many a game I can imagine enhanced by the possibilities of the Wii U GamePad.

@eaglebob345 Again, I'm not trying to generalise the Wii U audience, but also... I think its very safe to say, the VAST majority of Nintendo Console Owners buy mostly Nintendo games. In fact, imo, they'd be fools not to, I dont see what else they would play on it honestly and whatever they did, it would most likely be better on another system.
Personally I think games arent being ported to it because of Nintendo's "Image" nowadays. They still reek of casual and in a society where Casual gamers pretty much only play games on their phone, not quite a good image if you plan to release some hardcore deep experience on the system.
I also blame Nintendo too, they say they want hardcore gamers back, but they havent done enough at all. We dont have the online features hardcore gamers have been used to for nearly 10 years with 360/PS3 and there simply isnt enough hardcore games to tempt them to buy a Wii U. Personally feels to me Nintendo is left out of.. the big league's "Gaming circle", you know stuff like Bioshock, MGS, BattleField, etc. When Nintendo consoles are missing out on BIG BIG games, not good at all.

@Jazzer94 I actually may just agree with you there. Hope the money Nintendo made on it was worth it, cause it may just be the thing that ends up killing them (Not they're likely to go bust or anything close any time soon), but yeah I think that was where the image of Nintendo only caring about Casuals came about and it will be a lot of work to get rid of that image and hopefully claw hardcore gamers back and therefore developers, though it doesnt seem Nintendo is really doing much about it. If they did, I think they would pay whatever it took to get the likes of GTA V on their system, but as usual, they want to think they have some responsibility to what kids go on their system to do and that just affects everyone else on the system by not getting the game at all.

LAA commented on Bethesda: The Time For Convincing Publishers A...:

The other thing I should mention
I should say that the Wii U should be getting certain 3rd party games. e.g. Bioshock Infinite, GTAV, Saints Row 4, BattleField, Final Fantasy, MGSV, etc.
As I said theres a few reasons why they decided not to put them on Wii U...
Perhaps partly due to sales, perhaps they feel the audience who likes these games wouldnt buy a Wii U for them or rather the audience who likes these games primarily wont be on Wii U, etc.

To the people saying they dont want Nintendo to be a "3rd party machine", I get what you're saying, but its not like Nintendo sacrifice everything they want in it if they were to make it that way. In the end it can only mean a better machine at the end of the day, no matter how you look at it and tbh, Nintendo will probably need to do this eventually if they want to lose the chances of 3rd party games coming on their system at all.
Its pretty obvious that for the next console, they'll be on stage claiming every 3rd party is with them etc., but I'm not falling for it next time, they'll need to show damn proof cause I obviously can't trust their words anymore and thats just how I feel. The hardcore market should be the only market Nintendo try and make a console for. They are the people who will buy a console first and foremost, it just doesnt work appealing to other audiences. The other audiences play on their Phone/Tablets and I dont class that audience as a gaming audience, not to say that theres anything wrong with that, just that they don't look for anything deeper so they wont be looking to a Wii U/X1/PS4 to provide an experience they dont need.

LAA commented on Bethesda: The Time For Convincing Publishers A...:

Ha ha! Everyone hating on Bethesda!
Can't say I'm a massive fan of Bethesda, but they are right.
Seemingly, Nintendo just seemed to dropped their box from the heavens and then just expect developers to make something for it cause its a Nintendo box.
If Nintendo havent noticed... developers arent so... keen to develop on their consoles anymore, which I can probably come up with a few reasons why that is the case, but thats not the point and I'd rather not go into it.

This time round, it seems like Nintendo were in the wrong for developing their console in "secret" where Sony wanted feedback throughout developing it to make it even better, and MS, I guess not so much for MS, but still more so than Nintendo. Whatever way you look at it, it totally makes sense to include the gaming community in the development of a console, and seemingly, it seems Nintendo just like to think they know best, which on many areas, I dont think they do.

Not to sound like the Wii U is just wrong, I like that its probably the most "innovative" console this gen, just that it lacks the features I have come to expect in even a current gen console and that its innovation means nothing if no-one makes use of it, of course I expect Nintendo to and maybe a handful of other developers, but I don't think having just Nintendo games is enough of a reason to buy a Nintendo console anymore, so thats something they'll need to work on for their next consoles, it shouldn't even be something to work on for them, it should have been implemented, especially on a next gen console.
I just feel Nintendo are constantly behind in the console market, even in the thing they're best at, the game development side, they lack implementation of online features, and when theres a problem in the development side, I think its safe to say Nintendo definitely have a problem.

Not that I think we're entitled to anything, but seems a little cheapish to me.
Just that they would most likely give us retro games, which I do appreciate, but it hardly costs them much to do that I would say, at least I personally wouldn't have bought the games I got from the 3DS ambassador programme.
I think if Sony did something like this, (Which to be honest, I dont think they would anyway), but if they did, I could probably see them more letting owners have a free full retail game or something. Maybe more depending on how nice they are or how much they dropped the price of their console or something.

LAA commented on Reaction: Nintendo Surprises Us All With the 2...:

I can see why making a 2DS makes sense, however...its really ugly in my opinion and there wasn't really an outcry or need for such thing. What annoys me about this, is they're spending money on this, a thing not really needed, and they've admitted they havent done the things we've wanted them to do, and they're easily nearly 10year old problems. Account based system, achievements, region free, better integrated messaging system to name a few.
I'm not going with Nintendo next gen if they can't prove they listen to what their fans want. I can only take being ignored so much.

As for the Wii U price drop, good news for sure, but I don't think its a good enough drop. At least, I got a Wii U Premium for £260 in January and that did include NintendoLand. Its £100 less than a PS4, which is better than it was officially at least, however I think it needs a little more of a price drop. I think it if can drop £50 more, its in a better position to exist outside of PS4/X1.

Also awesome news about Windwaker getting released 2 weeks early digitally, which sounds awesome! However, even though for me its usually whichever method is cheaper I'll go with, it feels... a little weird to not get a Zelda gamebox..

There certainly was a Nintendo News Explosion though yesterday, no idea where that came from.

Its sad if people are still hurt over Rayman Legends being made multi-platform. I was fully expecting it to become multi-plat and I'd be hurt for the people who wanted this game, but lacked a Wii U too.
The only problem I had is they announced this like... DAYS away from intended release and we knew the game was complete. Still dont like the complete game was held away for months, just because of microsoft's policies probably (Which I hope a dev will just screw them over because of it one day), but it seems we're getting a lot more extra content in return, so very happy with that!

I plan on getting the Wii U version, however this is the first time where I want the same game on 2 systems. Wii U + Vita. I loved origins on vita, so cant wait to get on vita too.

LAA commented on Looks Like Batman: Arkham Origins Isn't Gettin...:

Sad really. There was actually a chance I could have got this on Wii U, at least if they put the effort in and it was slightly better than the PS3/360 versions, as it should be, but no.
The future just looks bleak for Wii U, its struggling to get COMPLETE 360/PS3 games now, how in the world is it going to cope getting PS4/One games.
I dont think I'll be getting another Nintendo Platform at launch next time, at least if it doesnt scream innovation like the Wii did and it comes with all the things people expect a console to do nowadays. I'm just fed up of the same old mistakes being made. A long draught of games and the constant feeling Nintendo is always a step behind, even more sometimes.
I may just stick to getting Nintendo consoles late in their life and getting all the games I wanted on the console then.
I do notice however, Nintendo advertise their games WAY WAY more and they barely advertise 3rd party. Like look at the E3 Direct, one video for all 3rd parties. I'm sure they know as we do that we were probably most anxious to see their games and games they're publishing, but thats just not very good at all. Microsoft + Sony both gave 3rd parties big sections, and I notice on the eshop for Pikmin 3, they have a Pikmin themed banner. Of course thats going to attract attention. I havent seen that sort of thing done ever for a 3rd party. They should either do it for both or not at all.

Why is this always talked about!?
It doesnt make sense!
Have you seen god of war, uncharted and the likes on mobile?
No, nintendo wants its franchises to draw people into getting their consoles, they have NOTHING if they dont have their franchises exclusively.
Dont get me wrong, it does offer benefit, such as having a much larger user base to potentially buy their game, therefore increasing profit to nintendo and more users playing, etc.
But then it also means less people will potentially buy their consoles.

I fully support nintendo for not bringing it over, partly because I dont want to acknowledge mobile as a gaming platform, only for certain types of games. A game like mario is a game that I dont think would work on mobile.

LAA commented on Pikmin 3 Listed As £39.99 On The Wii U eShop ...:

I was going to go digital after I heard about this offer, now I just did the maths and I'm disappointed... Ha ha.
I would definitely buy with ShopTo both of these games, so they're both £32.86, atm, if I get them both at that price, thats £65.72
If I go with nintendo thats £39.99 for Pikmin 3 and I guess we can pressume the same for Wonderful 101.
Thats around £67.98 with the 30% discount included. If I'm being kind I can also include the £5 eshop code I'll get from buying Pikmin 3, which will make it £62.98 in total, but is it really worth a £5 saving to sacrifice physical copies?

Nintendo should have announced how much wonderful 101 will be on eshop really. Though if its cheaper than what I pressume it will be, it'll only mean less of a 30% saving, though I think its probably very likely it'll be £39.99.

I think I'm putting pikmin 3 back on pre order physically...
Plus seeing I'm not so interested in wonderful 101 anyway, I could wait for a bit if I want and get it even cheaper.

EDIT: And I just noticed I have £5 of shopto discount points to use if I choose to, ha ha. Its definitely in retail's favour atm no matter how you look at it to me. Plus more purchases will further lead to gold membership, so earn more points with further purchases and more offers...
And of course, purchases arent even linked to my account exactly, not good at all.

EDIT2: Oh, I also forgot to mention I'll very likely get the games a day or 2 early from shopto as well. Yeah just not in digitals favour for me at all atm. Make the Wonderful 101 deal 66% off and maybe I'll come back to you...

LAA commented on Wii U Summer System Update Pushed Back To The ...:

@element187 Or Nintendo can sell things at a loss like Sony/MS do, which they don't like doing, and now it's looking like they'll be forced to do that because a £50 decrease from a PS4 isn't enough, should be good for me and you though if they make an ambassador program!
And again, you're treating achievements as a forced system, players either choose to engage with it or not, there's no forced about it.
As for why I care about it, we'll for starts I should mention that they need to be tied to an account to be the most worth it, gives you competitiveness with friends, gives you things to aim for and I guess jut the pride of your account's achievements. It's just sad when even mobiles are ahead of Nintendo as even they include achievements, but yeah I doubt they'll add it anyway, they've already admitted they're struggling with HD development... 7 year old technology, so dot have much hope elsewhere, the only real next gen feature Wii U has (In terms of software at least) is the miiverse, shows how great the Nintendo community can be anyway, then you add that it's gaming focused and can have benefit to people stuck in a game or whatever, it's a really cool feature.
I should also just state, I don't buy games for achievements if that's what you're hinting at... My achievement/trophy level doesn't mean that much to me, as I've said, it's give me more motivation to keep playing games, an example I remember was in Halo 3 trying to mowdown someone in a mongoose, got it by accident in the end, but yeah, mostly my experience with them has just give me value with the game, pushes me to do things I wouldn't think of usually and, well a lot of things really. If none of that is for you, then just don't bother with it. You talk about being forced things you need to pay for, I've paid for TVii and I don't care about it and it isn't even in UK yet, paid for video chat, doubt I'll ever use it, surely game focused features should take priority over other features?

@kyuubikid213
Wrong attitude to have really.
For starters we should simply have that choice.
Secondly, some games sometimes dont make it to every country sadly, this is where region free helps the gamers.
Thirdly, A lot of a generalisation to say most gamers dont care, there was a big campaign for region free/no DRM for PS4/One a while back and there is one for Wii U now, you cant ignore that and say most dont care.

@element187 I may have read some of it at least...
But regardless... Nintendo... did sell most most current gen consoles right...?
Its doing very well right.
Surely they should pass value onto its consumers...right?
If anyone, they are the ones who can DEFINITELY afford this, I just get the feeling they are being either cheap or purely ignorant, if not, why cant they answer?
We shouldnt worry about money problems with them anyway. They're the ones providing a product and service, they cant just say, we cant afford the things you want, but buy it anyway!
Well done for posting some of the first legitimate arguments I've seen though.
I cant really say if it costs money for indie developers or not, but seeing most indie developers on Wii U develop elsewhere, which do require achievements, I dont think its particularly a problem for Wii U.
I'd say it would more likely nintendo could do this than Sony anyway, seeing they took a beating from PS3 issue.
Plus, wouldnt nintendo want more people to buy their consoles? The only people it seems nintendo need more of buying their console are hardcore gamers atm, what better way to get such people on board with services such as achievements, messaging and true accounts.

LAA commented on Wii U Summer System Update Pushed Back To The ...:

@FineLerv No I do understand other opinions. The only reason I hear that seems legitimate-ish, is it can pull you out of the experiences.
I do understand about how you say trophies can "ruin" gaming for you. Sometimes I feel its a chore to get them, but I can also say trophies have gave me that motivation to aim for 100%ing games or doing things I wouldnt normally do, so I think they offer a greater benefit to. For the games that just seem too much work for just trophies, I just think it isnt worth it and leave it.
Again though, its an optional feature, and I dont think its very fair for people who just dont like the optional feature, to take that away from people who want it.

I think its cool you find Wii U is your primary system, nice for nintendo. I sadly dont think any nintendo console will ever be my primary system, it'd need a lot more 3rd party games for that, but I'm sure I'll still enjoy it just for the nintendo games alone, though we also have the X, Bayonetta 2, Watch_Dogs, Batman, which is probably the best Nintendo has had for 3rd party ironically and I dont think people are still quite so happy funnily enough.

@siavm Thats not the point. The point is the place has become a more connected place over time, I want to know whether its just nintendo being old fashioned and not moving with the times, or theres a legitimate reason why they dont want to go region free. With both PS4/One being region free, the Wii U is in trouble, not only for being around £50 cheaper than a PS4, but offering less services and features.
It doesnt hugely affect me in particular I'll admit, but I want the CHOICE. I feel more for the people where region lock does affect them significantly more.

I feel its because of the region lock campaign, I guess they want it to fade away so they can get away with not talking about it, still annoyed at nintendo about that. If they can list the reasons why they dont do it, and they're legitimate reasons, I may still be disappointed, but I at least know why, but they just ignore it.

The Wii was obviously the "victor" in terms of sales yeah definitely, but overall?
I dont think so.
When I think of last gen, I dont think primarily of the Wii's accomplishments, I think of the 360/PS3's, with achievements/trophies, party chats, retail games digitally, etc.
I only think of the Wii's accomplishments in terms of controls, seeing it led both Sony/MS to do their versions.
However, the Wii likely sold more because it appealed to not just hardcore gamers, but also casual gamers, even non-gamers, so course it'd sell well, mix that with a lower price of the 360/PS3, big win, not because it was "the better console", I'd define a "better console" as the one I used the most, and the Wii by no means was that, only several occassions throughout the year when the next big nintendo game came out.

Ha ha, I think some people are butt hurt on this...
I agree that if Rayman Legends was released on Wii U in february, maybe it would have sold a lot, as there was nothing else upcoming, (at least for me), on the radar, and I guess a lot of many other people.
However, I stopped being angry at this long ago, we got the rayman app, which was awesome and the Wii U version is getting some exclusive content and all the extra content being developed for it. I still absolutely plan on getting it for Wii U, (Although for the first time like.. ever, I want it for the vita too! I loved origins on the vita and I've never felt I needed two games on different systems before)
Anyway, it seems a totally legitimate reason. I doubted it'd remain exclusive anyway, that I dont care about, I'd like it to be a timed exclusive, but seeing we're getting extra content and we have the Rayman app, I have no problem with that now.
About the MS thing... not sure if its true, but if it is, I just HATE that policy and I'd definitely love publishers to say FU to MS, though from the way it looking how many people will get an XBone, it'll only make it easier to do next gen. Never really liked MS's attitude anyway, so I'd always want a PS4 over it anyway, but XBone seemed to do a good job to put me and most people off from the looks of stuff.

I think for E3, this was really a moment for Nintendo to shine, but I dont feel they really delivered. I mean, of course, I am now very hyped to get my hands on the likes of SSB/MK8/DS:TF/SMW, but they really could have BLOWN minds with a Metroid announcement/Zelda Wii U tease and it feels disappointing as it seems theres no real point for owning a Wii U atm till august for pikmin 3...
As well as 3rd party support worrying me, but it seems to be the case nowdays for nintendo anyway and to me, thats why I think 2 consoles is pretty much mandatory for gamers nowadays, nintendo console for all the good nintendo games and whatever else unique nintendos consoles can only draw, and likely a PS4 for everything it can offer (I'll miss you Halo 5, but I'm not buying an XBone, wasnt looking likely before the reveal, now the coffin is well and truly sealed),
Another point though is I feel nintendo dont seem to really value 3rd party as much, seeing they simply flashed little clips of 3rd parties in a short video, I dont see Sony/MS treating 3rd parties like that in their conferences.
I am a little worried about Wii U's future atm, there is no way they should be comfortable with only being £50 cheaper than a PS4 and not only that, having few games to justify that price.
I'm also hoping that the summer update can bring achievements/true account system/messaging too, that'll restore my faith in nintendo more, but honestly, not sure they can hold out console wise next gen, in which I dont mean their games wont try force you over, they definitely will, but console wise, they just feel well and truly behind. I truly admire them for their innovation, but they should also adopt standards the consumers value, consumers want their purchases stored on account forever, consumers value the means to message any friends online, consumers value the ease of use to invite someone to their game or to join their game, they just seem to be missing out on value their console can offer.
For games, the Wii U definitely offers some nice gems to look forward to, the problem is these gems and far apart, while elsewhere, the gems are coming at a steady rate. The E3 also helped me see the Wii U isnt as big of a gap behind PS4/One as I thought it'd be, (but really even if it was just a little ahead of PS3 I'd be happy), so really nice to see the likes of Mario Kart 8 espicially wowing my graphically wise on the Wii U.

@LeVideoGamer Oops, don't know about that, but I'm certain capcom must have some say in the matter too right? And if it was down to level 5, I'm sure they'd bring it here just for Layton.
Capcom just annoy me lately, I just feel every game is being held at ransom, like its our fault it doesn't sell well and not theirs for promoting it and etc. just feels a kick in the teeth for fans who have supported them, and a lot of people clearly want AAI2, but still nothing, I just question their relationship with the fans.

Bring over Layton VS Ace Attorney then please Nintendo! (Also Ace Attorney Investigations 2)
If Layton VS AA isnt brought over to the west, I think I'm just boycotting capcom from them on, its getting to the point that their games are just always held at ransom, instead of just trusting the fans.
Remember that facebook thing capcom did for the game we were most interested in? Layton VS AA won hands down on that vote, and still nothing, they're quick to forget when they want to. Just milking the fans as much as they can.

EDIT: Ha ha, I just noticed my avatar makes it seem I'm a Layton VS AA fan boy, ha ha. I actually come up with the idea before the game come out funnily enough. LAA are just my initials ;)

LAA commented on Rumour: Retro's Wii U Title Is An Entirely New IP:

I'm really excited for a new metroid, I hope for Wii U, as a HD metroid and all the things the gamepad could bring to metroid makes me salivate thinking about it, but I hope a 3DS metroid is made eventually too.
If Retro isnt working on metroid, I'll have to say I'll be disappointed as it'll be a long time to wait for a new metroid, but I am also intrigued by a new IP, I just must say it'll have to really blow my mind to think it was more worthwhile than metroid.

@ikki5 As much as I'd like to agree with that, I think PS4 at least will definitely be fine. I funnily enough want the 720 to fail, mostly because of rip off Live, no exclusives worth bothering with anymore, but it wont suprise if it does well either.
I predict them both doing well. If they dont, how can developers/publishers make money? They'll only have PC. If anything, I can only predict a slow start, perhaps because of sales, but they'll both definitely games, no question.
I also think Wii U will be fine, but it will probably only take just Nintendo exclusives for that to happen for me if I'm honest. I didnt buy Wii U for everything else, (Though things like Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade 2 are definitely big pluses for the Wii U), as much as I'd love for that to be a reason, it isnt really right now, but I hope it will someday and it definitely deserves it.

@ikki5 Yes of course there are, but not nearly enough. How many HD titles are coming to 360/PS3 compared to the Wii U. The Wii U should be aiming for that, not mobile games that wont really set the gaming community on fire, it'll probably be like a short buzz similar to getting PS1 games on Vita (Which is probably a bigger buzz tbh), simply because its new and it means more new games.
But, yes, I see what you mean about "Competing" against others and "possibly gaining an edge"... kinda. I wouldnt say compete, cause the Wii U is definitely in the wrong market if its trying to compete with mobile games, it cant even really compete with 360/PS3 fully atm, how can it stand up to PS4/720?
But I think just having mobile games on the platform may be good, just that I think there are better things to put resources and money towards.

@ikki5 I wouldnt say its the type of games Wii U needs though. Do we really want this first HD nintendo console to be known as the mobile app console? Really?
While fair enough on your point for not owning a mobile, but the truth is likely that this group of people is a minority. The funny thing is even I dont care much for mobiles anyway. I just use my iPod Touch for game apps really.
I also dont think it'll draw more people/devs to the console either. I certainly dont see people rushing to the shops to play Angry Birds on a Wii U and Vita also has Playstation Mobile, look how many games are upcoming for that (And its a genuine shame cause the Vita is an amazing machine).

Not to sound like I'm insulting anyone, (I'm not), but quite disappointed most people seem to support the idea of mobile games coming to Wii U.
Either there is just a massive longing for Wii U games full stop, so much, we're willing to support even mobile games, or just our expectations have really lowered for Wii U games to expect.
Not to force my opinion onto anyone, but I dont think this is a thing we should be supporting over the many other things Wii U needs right now.
With a console, ANY console, I expect big experiences, not to say I dont want "Bite sized" experiences, I love BTR2 on the Wii U for example. I just dont see people rushing to the shops for a Wii U now they can play Angry Birds on the Wii U for instance. By all means work on it in the future, but theres still a lot of things the Wii U should have had at the beginning which should be getting worked on now.

@HeatBombastic Yeah true, but they were designed for the mobile in the first place. I think it really depends on the game to a point too. For example, one of my favourite mobile games is probably Cut the Rope. The reason I like it so much is probably because its perfect for bus rides (Mainly cause I enjoy the game mainly probably, ha ha), but it was likely designed for being a mobile experience in short bursts. A game that could work how you say though, (although was on Wiiware/PC first), World of Goo, I'm sure that could take advantage of the GamePad and etc. and I'd probably buy it too if it looked like a lot of creativity was put into it, but I still think there are much more important things to invest in before mobile games.

@LexKitteh That is actually the first brilliant idea for a mobile game I've seen, though again, wasnt originally a mobile game and from what I played of it, isnt really a game I'd play on a mobile. Although using the resources from the mobile version for a Wii U version would be very great! I'd prefer a sequel though!

@idork99 Bragging rights doesnt seem a very good reason for me, Vita has PSMobile for instance, but I'm not very bothered about it at all sadly.
As for playing games with better controls, again, most "good" mobile games are designed to make use of the lack of controls and most games I can think of are just ports of console games put onto mobile for just the sack of it really or for some little more profit.

Bad move if nintendo is putting money and resources into getting mobile games for the Wii U... Why buy a Wii U when you can play them all on a mobile?
If mobile developers choose to put their game on consoles, leave it to them, dont try and give them money and resources into doing so. I'd rather the money go into a lot more things, such as perhaps securing more 3rd party releases, achievement system, improving online features, heck, even just putting that money into more first party nintendo games. Mobile games should be way at the bottom of the list.
Not to sound I'm completely against mobile games on the Wii U, if mobile devs want their game on the Wii U, sure, but imo, there arent any mobile games I'd throw money at nintendo for to get them on the Wii U, sure it may be possible to run them on the Wii U, but thats not the same thing as it being suited to the Wii U or worthwhile porting it to the Wii U.

LAA commented on Talking Point: The Next-Gen Console War is Wii...:

Although funny, I do have kinda... waves of hope being turned on and off through the year for Wii U, ha ha. Like that NDirect where they shown off X and everything else. X alone made me :O, Wii U is fine! Then now, we see its not really getting any of the multi-platform games it should, now I'm worried again, ha ha.
I can understand why they dont come though. Nintendo just work hard at making their consoles appear as "Family Friendly", which can be fine, but it can be a major turn off to developers developing some hardcore game and fans of those games of course, and when you see the best sold games for Wii U are generally Nintendo games (Not too suprising really), it doesnt really offer hope that a hardcore game would really sell on Wii U and that the audience is even really there.
I definitely see the potential in Wii U though and I'd love it alone just for the Nintendo games and games like X really, but sad to say I still see it as behind in several ways. The first clearly noticable way is of course online. The second way are all the features even 360/PS3 had which Wii U doesnt, like achievements, a good implemented message system, ability to move accounts between systems, chat parties perhaps.
Without those things, I just cant truly see it as a next gen system, just a current gen system with a unique controller which can change a lot of things, not to say I dont like the Wii U, I love it, just that I hope it can be much better in time, sadly not holding hope out on that though.
If the rumours are true doe the next xbox though, I think Wii U could at least be "2nd" in the next gen, I have no idea what'd make people buy a xbox otherwise, barely has any exclusives caring about anymore and Halo was the only one I liked and now thats gotten worse over time.
I'll likely be getting PS4/Wii U for next gen, but I think Wii U will be fine in the end, but just that it can be better is whats annoying. It just wont catch up to the times.

Tbh, this guy makes some fair points here, but I really have no respect for his opinions when he says things like "Microsoft will win due to TV tuning and skype", yeah sure. I'm sure many gamers will be buying Xbox's for that, and I'm sure the people who love TV and skype (Who already have TV and computers for that) will rush out for an Xbox. Brilliant prediction.

I'm actually suprised he wasnt so harsh on the eShop, I find the download speeds on it simply unforgivable, I hope to never download something at 3GB, seeing it can take 30-40mins to download 1GB for me. Now if Nintendo can get that sorted, and I hope add a universal achievement system and improve their implementation of accounts (Those 2 things just make me feel its still behind), then Ninendo's put everything in the console I'm happy with and have miiverse as a bonus, which I love

@WesCash
Er no. Not at all. I am someone who has super meat boy and I find it a "Good" game, but meat boy does not belong in SSB at all and if they did want to go the path of putting in a lot of 3rd party characters (Which I wouldnt mind really), meat boy wouldnt be anywhere near the top on the list. Characters like Sora, Snake, Layton, Ace Attorney all take precendence to name a few.
I just dont like their attitude either. It obviously seems they dont care so much for making a game for Nintendo, so why should nintendo basically pay them to do so. Either make a game for nintendo because you want to or dont. I just find it really cheeky to ask for that while they havent give anything back yet.

I wish they'd have something similar to cross buy though. As much as I'd love to transfer my save to 3DS and play that whenever, I dont think its worth an extra £30 to do so.
Hoping MH3U will be awesome anyway, not bought an MH before and it took me a few days with the demo to decide whether I'd like it and now I think the answer to that is yes! (Plus when I heard about 70% more content from original MH3, that blew my mind too)

Yeah I have to agree with the first comment, having an option to share car designs, etc. over the internet would be so awesome and obviously it fits very well with lego! I'd love for this to happen!

I wasnt going to get this at first, as I was going to get Rayman and yeah you all know the story there, but the more I see of this the more I want it. All they had to show was a pig cannon, gliding using chickens, riding a dinosaur, yup, day 1!

Luckily for me I dont need to think about monster hunter, I just dont like it that much, and I personally dont think its worth £40 where even the port job for the Wii U feels like a 3DS port, with the square layout on the game pad, although for people who really like monster hunter already, I'm sure they wont be disappointed, plays really smooth.
