I remember playing original mario kart at friends of mine an I wasn't that impressed, mostly because of controls. So I lost interest in the series until MK Wii. And I was blown away by how much fun this game was. MK7 was good too but it wasn't the same, something was missing. MK8 though, I really hope it's gonna be at least on the same level of funness as it's home console predecessor. Fingers crossed.

All they need to do is pretty much Wii U portable, with two screens and backwards compatibility with 3DS/DS. The specs for the Wii U were known and established at least two years before the lunch. So technically we're talking about putting quite average, with low power consumption, 5-6 years old hardware into a handheld. Nothing impossible IMO. What's most important, it wouldn't take forever to develop new games for that platform as by that time the specs would be well known. Also the cost it self as virtually no changes into the infrastructure would be required (new servers, services, OS etc).

That reminds me the situation with 3DS. If in 2011 somebody told me that this struggling handheld in two years time, will be outselling PS3 and XB360 all together, I'd be laughing my donkey off.
Please watch the profanity — TBD

@banacheck I know that this figure seems to be very optimistic, but Nintendo surprised me quite a lot of times in terms of sales so I wouldn't be shocked if they actually hit 8-9 million mark. Like I said previously, if SMB3D turn out to be a hit and if they release MK8 in late February / early March ... it could happen. Unless Nintendo got something big and they're not telling us about it.

They probably looked at the GTA 5 and realised that at the time, they have no chance competing against Rockstar's baby. Or it's just too many big AAA titles coming out this fall, not even mention about ACIV which would be a direct competitor to Ubisoft's new IP. One of these reasons or all of them, can't tell.

Krzysztof commented on Sometimes Finding a Wii U to Buy Ain't Easy:

In Europe, Wii U is very poorly advertised. There's little to none ads, so how people supposed to know what the Wii U is ? Retailers are not stupid. If no one knows what it is, why should they bother to sell it. Even if some of these people came across the image, poster etc they think it's a new controller for Wii. Until Nintendo does something about it, don't expect Wii U to be even partially popular as Xbox or PS.

@Lithium NES never ment to be for hardcore audience. They built it with casuals in mind. But it was such a big hit that all sorts of games were coming on it. At the end of NES life span, hardcore audience was big enough so they came with SNES which was hardcore focused.

Since when Nintendo was ever "Hardcore gamers" company ? In fact, when they tried to address their systems to those gamers, it was a slippery slope for them. And as far as I remember SNES was the last super successful, hardcore Nintendo's system. So they've gone back to square one. Why NES was so successful ? Because it was aiming at people who had little to none interest of games. It created a whole new breed of gamers. Just as DS and Wii. And that's what they're really good at. So ... the Wii U. Is it gonna share the success of its predecessor ? I don't know ... and you don't know either. None of us (probably) is gaming industry business analyst. I know it's very tempting to play one, but we are only consumers. I find it very funny, when people saying about "success" of next PS and MS consoles and how PS4 gonna rule the world ... THEY'RE NOT EVEN OUT YET. And I find it hilarious, when I read "Wii U is doomed" etc. This console is only 10 months on the market and practically, there's NO GAMES for this system. The most importent 1st party titles are delayed for at least one year (unexpectedly or intentionally, don't know). So what did anyone expect. Does it mean that "this is it" for Nintendo ? Hell no. So how about, we just sit tight, enjoy the games we have (regardless the system) and watch what happens next year, because it's going to be very interesting.

Am I the only one who buy Nintendo consoles for their exclusives ? Yes, it'd be nice if Fallout came out on the Wii U, but it's not some kind of disaster or something. TBH who cares ? Even Nintendo doesn't give a $€¥#%, because they have really good reasons. For couple of years I hear the same rubbish from "hardcore" gamers, 3rd party devs and competition that this and that N system is underpowered, there's no support etc and who's gonna buy it. Nintendo does little to nothing to fix this and guess what ... it doesn't matter because they're outselling the competition on every level and make shed loads of money. They not gonna go to other devs and beg (pay) them to release more games, because they have the best first party line up in the world, so they don't have to. MS and Sony on the other hand, they don't have much choice, but to do so (no wonder that 3rd party devs love them so much). Nintendo rather spend that money on their games, making damn sure, they will be quality games (remember Nintendo seal of quality). So just read between the lines. What Fallout devs and EA are actually saying is "Nintendo, you didn't pay us (enough) to built games for you, so now we're gonna bash your system" (EA in particular).

@ICHIkatakuri For me it'd make sense. Nintendo doesn't have many games but shed loads of cash. So they can either spend even more money on developing new platforms and pushing them on the market, trying to prove to developers that their system is still worthy, or just ... but them ;) I recon it's just a matter of time when Sega will be a Nintendo's 1st party developer.

My question is, how they gonna know if there's any demand for this game ? Are they checking all Nintendo related websites? Are they waiting for some kind of petition? Unless there's some kind of "demand system" implemented in miiverse (a poll?) there's no way to say how many wii u owners want any game. My answer to this is "yes, there's huge demand for any good 3rd party title for Wii U".

Krzysztof commented on Satoru Iwata Refutes Claim That Nintendo Is "S...:

Like I said previously, in two years time Nintendo could release its new handheld, which could combine best of two worlds (Wii U and 3DS). Since Wii U is not the most powerful system in the world it has very little power consumption. It means they could fit U's hardware in a handheld and they could make it 100% compatible with Wii U as well as with 3DS. And just by adding simple HDMI wireless dongle, it'd make it a full blown home console too. TBH, that would explain why they've gone with tablet controller and why Wii U has this particular hardware. Maybe, Wii U is already a predecessor of something bigger and Nintendo is just testing the water. Don't know, what do think?

Let's face it. Mk8, Smash bros or new Zelda should be a lunch title. In fact, all of those three should be released in first year after the lunch. Then they should start working on new 2d and 3d mario, pikmin, wii u fit and some good wii u sports.
