The problem is that spell check wouldn't help. He didn't misspell a single word. He used the wrong word several times (their and there instead of they're; deference instead of difference; "distant sing" instead of distancing; etc)...but spell check wouldn't catch that. Also, the grammar and punctuation were a huge problem, but spell check wouldn't help there either.

Re: Why did you choose Wii over PS3/360?

Kknight

1) I've owned every Nintendo console since the NES and every handheld since some of the Game & Watch games (excluding GBC and VB)
2) Nintendo's games appeal to me and with rare exception the games on the other systems don't. I've actually read reviews for games on other systems looking for an excuse to pick up an XBox360 or PS3, but can't find enough games that I want to justify it.
3) Nintendo is the king of family and party gaming hands down. Now that our kids are old enough to play, that is important to us. Almost everything they play gets played together.

Re: Favorite NSMBWii Level? (Spoilers)

Kknight

I didn't think 9-3 was that hard in co-op. I beat it with my 6-year-old and 9-year-old sons in 3-player. Now 9-7 had to be done solo...but not 9-3.

I asked my wife for Spirit Tracks, Bowser's Inside Story, and Boy and his Blob. I told her to buy me just one of the three, but she usually buys all the ones I ask for

Re: Nintendo is Lazy and Doesn't Care?

Kknight

Here's a Nintendo-specific website parroting the same nonsense...except they take it a step further and say that NSMBWii is a "must-have" game, but that you shouldn't buy it because there is better stuff to buy and because it sends the wrong message to Nintendo. Seems even less logical than the IGN view:

Too bad, though I don't visit there often, I've always liked Nintendojo. Been visiting irregularly for many years.

Of course Nintendo is lazy in some areas. NSMBW is a great game, but it could have been so MUCH MORE. NSMBW SHOULD HAVE HAD online multiplayer and a level editor/creator. What pissed me off about that was Miyamoto made a horrible excuse and said that the Wii could not handle online multiplayer on NSMBW. That was a LIE. NSMBW is only 0.35 GB, it could have almost been a WiiWare game! Nintendo was lazy developing NSMBW, but it is still a great game. But, it could have been so MUCH MORE. Oh well, at least I have hope for SMG2 and Metroid:OM.

0.35GB is 350MB...isn't the WiiWare limit 40MB? I'm getting tired of this ridiculous "should have/could have been a WiiWare game" stuff.

Why? Then you will have THREE awesome games and a system that has even more amazing ones that you probably missed out on (Psychonauts, Gitaroo Man, ICO etc.).

That may be true...but to answer the "why?": I don't have a whole lot of time to devote to gaming and have a hard enough time keeping up with my backlog of Nintendo games without adding to the mix another system's worth of games that I'd want to play (like all the Final Fantasies that I've missed since VI.)

I'm still working on TWEWY on DS and after that I've got to play Starfy, Scribblenauts, Professor Layton II, and Mario & Luigi 3. I just finally caught up on my Wii backlog, but Boy and His Blob just came out, New Super Mario Bros soon, and I haven't yet put nearly as much time into Wii Sports Resort and Boom Blox Bash Party as I'd like.

So in short, I've got enough on my gaming plate without going back and catching up on the backstory of KH. I guess I'll just have to pass on this one and hope that at some point a main storyline KH comes out on Wii that I can jump into.

EDIT - and I just remembered that I've had Kirby Super Star Ultra since Christmas and still haven't played it.

As much as I'd like to play it, I can't justify purchasing a PS2 and a couple of games just to get enough background info to play KH 385/2. I guess I'll have to pass if it's true that you NEED the background in order to play this one.

Yeah, that's what my e-mail looked like...the screenshot I posted is the page that the e-mail link takes me to. At the top of my page it says:

Important: Your Family Account Administrator must accept the reward by August 11, 2009.

Note: One Elite Status reward per Club Nintendo Family. [/QUOTE]

Hmmm...I think I may have just realized the problem. I have a family account set up in conjunction with my wife...I wonder if she is the "primary" on the account. Let me log in as her...hold on...

Seriously though, I got the e-mail...I clicked on the link you noted telling me to visit and claim my prize...it takes me to the Club Nintendo page where I am logged in. This is what the page looks like for me:

People complain that Path of Radiance is expensive, but aside from the cut scenes in Radiant Dawn, the Wii version offers very little that PoR doesn't, so the value is about equal, in my eyes. If you find it for $5 or $10 less than a new game, I'd say go for it because it's just as good, if not better, than a lot of new games, and it's not that old. Don't feel like you're being ripped off because you aren't.

It's generally the fan favorite, too, at least in the West. I'm not sure if one of the older games tends to be more highly regarded in Japan, but I'll hopefully find out soon through some fan translations. Anyway, I can't recommend it enough. It was possibly the most enjoyable video strategy game I've played.

Good deal. How does it compare to something like FF Tactics A2? I think that is the only strategy game I've played recently (I have this funny feeling that I've played another recently, but can't for the life of me remember what it was.) Anyway, does it play similar to something like that? I greatly enjoyed A2...put over 100 hours into it I think. I also greatly enjoy chess if that means anything.

I'm thinking Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. That game just had some weird difficulty problems. When the game would randomly make you the Dawn Brigade in the middle of Ike's chapter, those battle were extremely hard because the DB was severely underleveled. And the game had another huge spike right at the end. It took me forever to beat the multi-part final level, because I refuse to let anyone die.

I've waffled back and forth on trying Fire Emblem many times...this type of thing is one of the main reasons that I still haven't given it a shot.

Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II for Gamecube. Game looks great and plays great, but after the initial Death Star mission it became really hard to the point where it stopped being fun; compounded by quite lengthy missions and few checkpoints. The unlockables even for the initial mission were also bloody impossible to achieve; the fact that one of them would have made the game a bit easier -- the one to keep the targeting computer on without holding the button down all the time -- made it even more galling.

Yeah, I really liked all the Rogue Squadron games, but if I remember right I think I used the cheat codes to unlock all the equipment upgrades.
