@Barbiegurl777 Have you tried Gunman Clive? If so, it might give you an insight on how the Mega man games play. The MM NES games on the eshop are basically run'gun platformers but seriously, it's better to watch some videos on youtube to get a better idea. If you are looking for a game that is tough as nails, yet has good level design, memorable bosses and obtainable weapons, Mega man is worth a look. Personally, I'd recommend you to try Mega man 2 since it's the easiest of all the ones released.
I fully support Level-5's Guild series, hope these name trademarks are what I think they are... and based on names alone I'm guessing: Wonderflick - Fantasy adventure with touch screen controls. Rare Drop Adventurer Note - A quirky looting game. Earth Devastating B-Rank Girlfriend - Either a visual dating sim or something similar to Liberation Maiden.
Probably will consider if Harry Partridge has anything to do with the game, if not I'll give it a pass unless it turns out to be a surprisingly good game.
I liked the first game, but it had its glaring problems. When I saw the trailer for the 2nd game, it was basically a DLC pack from the first with some extra elements added in and your review just sealed it. I'm still irked that the team did not opt for an all button control option, surely it wouldn't be much of a hassle if they worked it in like the leftie option.
I want this series to thrive, I really do. It's fresh to see a new Ninty IP especially with attractive character art and setting. But I wouldn't count this as a great sequel if the devs just basically added flare to coat the game's flaws and not address it directly. I'm sure this is a good game, but having played the first game, I will pass this up for better options on the eshop.
@Dpishere I played both and I can tell you that Nano Assault EX is less hectic than Geometry Wars though it still offers a decent challenge IMO. I wasn't really bothered on how everything glowed in GW(though it has been a long time since I played that game), but Nano Assault is tamer in terms of color if that's what you want to hear.
For this price, it's an addictive arcade shooter that's great for short play sessions, making for a perfect Download title. I actually enjoyed the Online Co-op more than Revelation's Raid mode, maybe because of the enemies or the fact Claire's in it, I dunno. I heard the Japanese eshop release allowed you to reset your Game data, unlike its retail release, so hopefully that same feature is retained here.
Considering this is an up port of the DS retail game(a great game, mind you), I guess it is worth a shot. Seeing that it has Online and maintains 60 fps(with 3D), I might bite even if it basically is an up-scaled DS game. This review Sold me anyway when it came out on the DS
Can't wait to see more of the two titles that aren't from Inafune-san. On one hand you have a Dungeon crawler/Horror hybrid and on the other a weird Japanese Monster Vs Monster game where you play as one of the civillians.
Nice to see the continuing habit games from Shin'en having that smooth visuals, their Art of Balance Touched remains one of the best looking titles for the 3ds. Can't wait for this, the eshop needs more 3D platformers.
Well, I at least expected a 5 knowing. Was really hoping Nicalis at least added some extra elements (3D effects aside) to this game. $2 would be more reasonable or $3, but it seems that Nicalis is banking on Pixel's fame. They're planning to release Guxt, a shmup by pixel. I just hope they price it reasonably.
@Geonjaha Thanks for pointing that out, My mistake lol. But... What exactly do you see about the main Pokemon series falling from grace? The series is still highly regarded and the basic formula can still be improved. Besides, if you find the series too repetitive then it's not for you, I'm sure there are millions of Kids who only played the DS series most likely that are clamoring for this game. It can be repetitive yes, but it hasn't fallen from grace. It's not like Gen I was the best in the franchise, Subjectively speaking.
So Pokemon X/Y, Monster Hunter 4, Dragon Quest 7, Ace Attorney 5, Todomachi Collection 3DS and Layton 6 will be scheduled for 2013 in Japan? The 3DS is sure to sell big time, at least in Japan.
@Geonjaha What about Pokemon has lost dignity exactly? As I recall, Gen V was a large improvement over Gen IV.
Nicely done, and I almost agree to all the points you've made. Hope you do a part 3, Megaman and Bass along with the Gameboy titles(4&5 especially) deserve some recognition besides a few references.
I actually prefer this review over the last one. The other review focused too much on the story and it left out half of the problems I had with the game aside from the game crashing bug, inaccurate stylus controls for the puzzle segments. Great review Mike.
That aside, I was really drawn into the story. It was not perfect by any means and there are some twists and inconsistencies that had me shaking my head, but it was good enough to keep me up for a whole night. I'll be there when another sequel pops up and I know the creator confirmed it.
@Jogurt Well Megaman 5 is releasing next week at Japan, and considering how fast Capcom distributed the Rockman Games on the Japanese eshop, I can bet you They will get Megaman 6 just in time for Megaman's 25th at December.
But really, I'm willing to give Capcom my money justto get these MM games onto the eshop pronto.
Gorgeous 2D spritework in layered 3D? Hook it to my veins please! With the File restriction gone, I'm hoping this will be more substantial than Risky's Revenge which I still enjoyed. Also
I' say every Classic Megaman game is worth checking out just for the unique Robot masters and their respective weapons. Can't wait to nab this once it hits NoA and do a Rolling cutter run again. The hard part for me was the yellow devil, but thanks to a certain weapon glitch, I took him down easy surprisingly enough and then the rest of the game was a breeze.
@6ch6ris6 Define "real gaming", Some games work better on a large touch screen. Just played World of Goo, Broken sword and a couple of picross/3d clones a few weeks back and I couldn't find it better to play them on a system with buttons. Sorry but the definition of gaming is subjective.
Actually, Nintendo is right. The Mobile/Tablets are multi-purpose devices that happen to play games. And it's up to consumers to decide which product satisfies their wants. I don't see any reason to be hostile here.
Played the original Freeware game, Bought the DSiware version, now I'll gladly triple dip for this and it will be Glorious. But seriously Nicalis, find another game to port, if I see a Cave Story HD remix edition U, I will cry.
Disliked the choices to make the game akin to LoS, but seeing that I did enjoy the last half of that game after a first horrible impression, I'll be willing to give this one a shot. Heck I'd get it anyway since I am a CV fan. I just pray they take out those load time monologues from the console game.
We should have Tretton invasions more often, Hopefully next week the invasion engages in full force. That was a good race everyone. I remembered why I didn't sell my copy months ago.
Got both the Zen and Marvel tables and I definitely couldn't recommend both of them enough. But if you had to choose only one get Marvel. Even if its a dollar more, it has better challenge, a little more objectives and definitely more superhero power.
Different stroke for different folks, and it seems that there is a polarized reception around these sites. Personally, I'm part of the demographic that wants a bigger screen, so by the time they come out with the color I want in a year or two, I'll be trading in my old system. I really dig the form factor of the XL so far.
I love more Layton, but I'm finding the part with Layton fighting off Robotic mummies at an Indy style temple to be a bit Jumping the Shark over here... Still, Layton is all about implausibility I guess.
If Lord's of shadow is anything to go by, I do hope Mercury Steam passes Contra on to a Dev team that does 2D the best... Not that LoS was bad, but I think its best if Contra stays on its tight and challenging 2d roots. Still looking forward to Mirrors of Fate though.
Every puzzle has an answer... If you are wondering about PL vs AA, I'd suggest you wait for a TGS announcement. We don't know much about the gameplay aside from the courtroom video given half a year ago.
As for the Mask of Miracles, I'm down for it. More Layton games is always welcome.
Played two levels of the Rayman origins demo, and I got what I expected... a half baked and somewhat choppy port compared to the console version. That's not to say it was bad or anything, but it is a rough job. For the most part, the game still manages to look stunning albiet blurry, and manages to run at a stable frame rate Even if it runs at half of what the console version is running at.
What disappoints me for the most part is the Sound, most of which are compressed. Other than that, it was an adequate effort to fit Origins to the small screen, though I do hope Ubisoft fixes some issues before launch.
2 options I'd either like to see: If its a 2d style Mario, no more "New Super Mario" in the title. Sure it's going to be a best seller, but the generic 2.5D art style grew old for me fast. It was cool for the DS game, but not if you will make it its own series. Also, one of the things that was awesome about the NSMB games was the multiplayer aspect, it seems mandatory now.
If its a 3D style game, I'd like to see it to be more of 64 and Sunshine where you have a more free roaming playfield. A central hub that branches out to different levels (Each of which has a number of different objectives which ends with a star). 3Dland was great, but I preferred something more open ended.
Off course, this is just what I wish to see. I expect NSMB Wii to be fleshed out for the WiiU's launch line up.
Hey! I remember that guy from Tekken 3, no wonder he looks familiar... As for the game, sure If this game comes stateside, I'll bite since its giving me vibes from a similar Namco Platformer, Wagan Land. Oh region lock, why must you be so cruel? Explore,Eat,Sleep... Sounds just about right.
Happy to hear you liked it. Bummer though that they are not supporting twin stick gameplay, but at least I still dug the MPH style controls. Let me get this straight... with the purchase of this software we are entitle to a cliched doppelganger, cheesy dialog, space calamari, an eggplant and now tempura wizard and... a robot armor... A Robot Armor?!? Anything that reminds me of Megaman X gets my interest.
Great job girls, I really enjoyed that, especially the one from Guns and Roses. Glad to see that there are still some harpists, especially when they can also take on modern songs. The Harp is one of the most difficult instruments to master and I was beginning to think it was a lost art. Hope you guys go far.
@WaveBoy Gone the same way as Dark Stalkers... to it's eternal grave
Anyway I am open to more RE goodness, just rerelease REmake and make REmake 2 and I will buy every Capcom title released on all current Nintendo consoles. You have my word for it.
Ehh, its disappointing yes, but I am more disappointed at the fact that Nintendo or whoever is responsible for disapproving this for a rating won't take the risk. I know this game has Controversial themes and will upset the religious groups, but in the end, its just a harmless game that was never meant to be taken seriously in the first place. If some find it disturbing, just ignore it, I'm sure Nintendo has filtered their Online shop well to block out the Mature rated titles from the minors... Oh wait, they didn't.
Oh well, like the others said, I guess its Nintendo being Nintendo, wanting to protect their image as a "family friendly" company and please the masses sensitivity. A missed opportunity really, would have wanted to play this on the go but there's always Steam I guess.
Nice, So now I hope Team meat decides to port one of their games to the service, Controversial or not. So it is true on what Iwata said on retail games on the eShop... Well, I guess I could now hope for a Steel Diver rerelease on the service... Its getting rarer by the minute at my place.
