I am so posolutely, absotively thrilled these weren't out when my kids were younger: these games are black holes that just keep sucking money out of parents. The added bonus here is that the Lego toys are detachable from the bases and will become lost. Terrific marketing plan.

I know, right? There is almost an obstinate streak that they just can't seem to fight. I pretty much take any corporate statements from Ninty with a grain of salt now: they are throwing darts, seeing what sticks, and, as always, will do what they want and damn the consequences.

Then we will be greeted with yet another 'Please understand...'

Actually, ANB's month-old tutorial was much worse. Here, after the first 3 days, you can leave Eda's home and start foraging. It isn't wasted time, at least. You want all the twigs and rocks you can get.

k8sMum commented on Review: Story of Seasons (3DS):

I bought off ebay and received my game on my birthday, the 26th. This one is much better than AToTT. I like it better than ANB, too.

I think one of the reasons for lack of multi-player options is it was so exploited with ANB: many players didn't do anything on their own but merely went online almost immediately to beg for crops, animals, and forage items that shouldn't have been available until much later in the game.

I am just about thru the yr 1 Spring, and yeah, it takes some time to get used to no shipping box, but now it feels right. The characters are well rounded, too.

I give it a solid 8.5.

@Pokefanmum82

Whilst you are, of course, welcome to your opinion, if this was your first HM game you really have nothing to compare it to within the series.

For myself, after reading many, many reviews and haunting Fogu for months, I passed on TLV. I don't care at all for the bobble head design of the characters nor the struggle of how much terra forming is needed to get mutations for items necessary to progress in the game. Some players have wasted whole seasons trying to get the terra forming right.

I am, however, eagerly waiting for my copy of SoS.

I envy those who say they trust nintendo to get things right and take whatever Iwata says as gospel. I grew up under Nixon, ergo I don't trust anyone. Politicians and corporate spokespersons will say whatever they feel the audience wants/needs to hear.

How many pillars can ninty sustain? Will stockholders be willing to continue support for those pillars that are raking in less $? All these years later and they cannot get online right!

I have supported Nintendo since the NES. I will wait and see what they do, but I've been less than encouraged since their talk about QoL and now this latest. How diluted can they make their gaming divisions, both hardware and software?

I feel they are coming across as desperate and throwing darts at a dartboard.

@ThumperUK

When I was learning to write, my left-handed brain told me that I should do it right to left. I mean if 'they' did it left to right it only made sense to me. It caused some problems with teachers whose logic differed from mine. I could write mirror image faster and neater than the correct way. Still can. It just feels more natural.

We lefties learn to adapt to a right-handed world because we have to. It's a given that when work stations can be set up for lefties production improves.

I use regular scissors the regular way. I use the mouse with my right hand, but I had a Wacum tablet with the stylus in my left for work.

I'd love to play Mario right to left.

Actually, it is pretty easy to keep gaming healthy in the family. Saying and meaning 'no' is a big part of it. Doing your homework on games is another part. It's much easier now than in the days before the internet.

Knowing your kids is a big piece of the puzzle. Whilst the situation may be tricky for non-gaming parents, for those of us who are it's mainly a matter of common sense.

As an official little old lady, I hate this crap. I've loved video games since Pong. My kids were the envy of the neighborhood because they had all the systems other than the Virtual Boy because I wanted to play them, too.

Who do they think have been playing games the last 3 decades: foetuses?

Now everyone get off my damn lawn: I'm rockin' MM on my 3ds xl.

@ShadyKnights

The only venom spewed on this thread has come from those who are happy with the release of the N3DS XL and feel everyone else should be too. Many have mocked and belittled those who dare want something different.

Even those posters really upset at nintendo's decision who have said they won't buy anything more from them are not spewing venom or name calling. As has been pointed out numerous times, nintendo doesn't owe consumers anything. The flipside of that coin is tho many of us have purchased their products for decades and feel a sense of loyalty, we owe nintendo nothing.

@NodesforNoids

That is the biggest load of poop I've read in a long time. I don't want to elevate myself over anyone, I just want a unit that's kinder to arthritic hands. Btw: if by lesser markets you mean the rest of the world that got all options, then it makes no sense at all.

What the hell does public transport have to do with this? Since most in NA rely on cars, why would we care about people seeing our 'childish' handhelds?

Tbh, I think nintendo forgets that the internet exists. Back in the day, we wouldn't know about new consoles/games til we got our copy of Nintendo Power in the mail. Even then we didn't always find out about regional differences.

They don't get that information is instantaneous now. They love their secrecy and coyness, but much of it just won't work today. I am a little old lady, a grandma, and I am way more with the times than they are.

Now I have to admit that I am an extremely cool little old lady and grandma, but c'mon: these people get paid a lot of money to make decisions and they seem to be shooting themselves in the foot a lot, lately. You need to spend money to make money, sometimes. Hunkering down with protectionism isn't gonna impress today's consumers. We have easy access to global information. I don't think that makes ninty too happy.

@Platypus101

I apologise for coming across as harsh to you. I am just tired of being told I have no place being discouraged by ninty's decision. The name calling and condescension in this thread is over the top, imho. Whinging about whinging is taking the focus away from why some of us legitimately want the N3DS over the XL.

Well, it's all moot because you don't seem to know about the main differences between the 3DS and the N3DS. I have stated numerous times that I don't give a rat's about the faceplates, but you keep bugging about them if it makes you feel better. That and the buzzword 'entitlement'. Lol.

I also don't care if you are or aren't getting anything. What does it have to do with me? Nada. Which is how it should be.

@Platypus101. ok... So because Europe has cars (namely transport trucks) I'm in the market for, and you're happy with your choice of car, I should reasonably expect you to help me campaign to bring those models over from Europe?

No, it's more 'since justinr is happy with his choice of car you should not even want the transport trucks available in Europe'.

k8sMum commented on Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Fac...:

My, what a lot of self-righteous, condescending snark against those of us who want the N3DS rather than the XL. Insult after insult. People whinging about people whinging. But from the stratosphere of superior intellect so it's ok. Lol.

Nintendo doesn't owe me anything. Neither do I owe them anything. I have bought every iteration they've release since the NES except for the virtual boy and the WiiU. Multiple units due to having 2 kids. I will limp along with my circlepad-less original blue XL. I will vote with my wallet. I will voice my opinion of poor decisions on websites dedicated to nintendo.

I will continue to laugh at holier-than-thous that seem to feel if they are happy everyone should be. Those that feel they are entitled to tell others 'it fits in my pants!' Those offering candy pacifiers. Those who feel being upset somehow takes our intellect off wars, IS, and the myriad of problems facing today's world.

Good grief.

"You said 'we are brats whinging(*whining) for what we can't have.' No argument with you there, your words, not mine."

I said 'YOU THINK we are brats...yada, yada...'

Makes quite a bit of difference, doesn't it? If you are going to quote someone at least do so in a way that doesn't alter the intended meaning. Less editing of your own posts needed that way.

@sykotek

Obviously you don't get that I want face plates, because I said I don't. The 3ds xl sold better all over. Shelf space isn't any more spacious in the UK. Since the original 3DS is personnae non grata anyway, the excuses are bs.

QoL software, being told in games to take a break, being told we are too stupid to differentiate different hardware, being told basically what we want...oh yeah: Ninty thinks they are our daddy.

You said 'and would probably be another thing the core would complain about,'

You believe we are brats whinging for what we can't have. How long have you worked for Nintendo, cause your attitude is right in line with theirs.

@sykotek

Just because your hands get cramped doesn't mean everyone's does. Just because you aren't interested in the N3DS over the XL doesn't mean some of us aren't.

See how that works?

I don't give a rat's about the face plates. I want the smaller unit with the bigger screen. Nintendo becoming more and more paternalistic is not my cup of tea, either.

I got an email notification yesterday hyping the joys of playing MM3D on the MMnew3ds. Of course they linked it to an image with 'not currently available' over it.

I don't think ninty's PR people even inhabit the real world anymore, but more a world of no-one-is-gonna-notice-the-stupid-we-do-because-Nintendo.

I am not interested in amiibos but wanted then to do well for ninty's sake. Not enough controller adapters. Not enough new 3ds units. Not bringing the regular new 3ds to the States. Somehow making their shortsightedness a virtue doesn't ring true. There is new double speak issued with each new disappointment.

I feel they have lost direction.

Nintendo is making me just not care anymore.
