JtotheY commented on Nintendo Isn't Talking About NX Because It Doe...:

@aaronsullivan Exactly, I'm just hoping Nintendo sees it like that, and not like "well Microsoft already has Smartglass, so this would only be an extension of that, thus not being innovative enough".

Also loving your Mario Kart 9 ideas, it's like the ultimate version of what Nintendo wanted the Wii U to be, because now you can take your 'controller' anywhere and as you said use a huge amount of them for big local multiplayer games.

Also would like the idea that everything is optional. You could use your 3DS as a controller, or your Gamepad, or your phone, but you don't have to and can just use a Pro Controller or something. You would also be able to sync your Quality of Life-devices and data with it.

Everything gets completed with the new online system, where Nintendo Network ID's are used for everything, so you can redownload all the games you ever bought, are saving up for discounts, the more you buy the bigger the discounts, etc.

That would be a system worth buying for the long-term.

@aaronsullivan I'd like that, I imagined myself being able to use the 3DS/gamepad as controllers for the NX. I'm hoping the NX is just gonna be strong hardware, with a flexible architecture that can easily integrate anything from the outside, being 3DS's, Gamepads, Android emulation etc. This would also make it easier to port PC-architecture games to it, either normally or through emulation.

@electrolite77 Gamecube had one, DS had one, Wii had one, 3DS had one, Wii U is a logical next step. The franchise also gained a lot of popularity since the 3DS version, would be a shame not to take advantage of that popularity, I think every casual player who owns a Wii U will buy it.

I'm hoping for an Animal Crossing, although it would be time for a new Metroid. But you can't read into this too much, I mean technically Project Guard/Robot are unannounced titles, cause they don't have an official name yet.

Agree with the peoples in the comments. Rumble needs a refreshing take for it to deserve a new game, and Pokémon Snap or Mystery Dungeon would better fit the Wii U. Would love a Mystery Dungeon with good online (and a different story, the whole human-turned-into-Pokémon thing doesn't do it for me), which would let everyone explore dungeons together. Just the thought of playing Mystery Dungeon on the gamepad gets me excited. Pokémon Snap speaks for itself.

JtotheY commented on Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo ...:

@mineralrich Exactly what I had in mind. And although the console-exclusive games can't be played on the handheld, the handheld-exclusive games could still be blown up and played on the big screen, with or without help (from the CPU and/or GPU) from the console. Indie games and smaller games will find their way to the handheld, where big AAA games will primarily be on the console. But most games (and ALL VC games) will be playable on both systems, with cross-buy and VC cross-buy.

@ShadJV YES!
But based on previous interviews, he doesn't seem to fully trust the people who work under him. If he could assemble a team that he DOES trust, and who understand and follow his vision, he could go on for ages creating games that way. He doesn't have his own studio right now, does he?

I would love some really good discounts based on how many games/systems you already own, the true Nintendo fans/spenders would be getting crazy discounts! It would get me to buy games like Captain Toad and Mario Maker, which aren't top of my list (Xenoblade, Zelda and Splatoon come first).

It would be true Nintendo-style, though, if they would announce crossbuy as part of the new rewards system.

JtotheY commented on I'll Take Zelda And Mario Over Sharing Call Of...:

I actually don't see the need for another CoD game on Wii U, as the most complete CoD of the last so many years (Black Ops II) is already on it. The new games are half the game of their predecessors, and make game modes that were featured in BO2 DLC. I'm looking at you, CoD:AW's zombie mode.
Besides that, I don't even have the time to be playing third party AND Nintendo games, figured that out in the last 2 years because I have 4 third party titles just laying around, collecting dust while I'm playing DK,MK8, Pikmin and, soon, Smash.

There are gonna be more than enough games for Amiibo compatibility. Hyrule Warriors and Zelda U for example will probably both be compatible with Link and Zelda. There are a lot of Mario games (NSMBU, SM3DW, Mario Party 10, MK8), so the Mario characters are already accounted for.

JtotheY commented on Game Freak Confirms That The Pokémon Stadium ...:

Just bring Pokémon Snap, Pokkén Tournament and maybe a multiplayer Pokémon Mystery Dungeon to Wii U. That would sell the console like crazy.

I do agree that the Stadium series doesn't bring anything new and sort of has been fused with the new 3D style of handheld Pokémon games. But it was a sort of Pokémon Party game with fun offline multiplayer. Wouldn't be that much work just releasing such a game every 3-4 years for like 30-40 euros/pounds/dollars.

@PlywoodStick Miyamoto does get his ideas from everywhere. Pikmin was a game he thought of when thinking of gardening. Look how great that turned out. With more experiences in his mind, he can create more wonderful games/ideas/new IP. Because I have the feeling he's running out of fresh ideas. I'm not so sure about Project Guard/Giant Robot and Starfox, for example.

Even though Splatoon is a genre that the Wii U has been lacking, the art style already keeps most gamers away.

Nintendo just doesn't seem capable of producing games for those gamers, so others should do it for them.

Look at Platinum Games, already brought out Wonderful 101, but sold bad (I think because the art style just doesn't attract the gamers it is meant for). Bayonetta 2? Major hype, looking forward to those sales numbers. If they were to bring a Scalebound/Bayonetta exclusively to Wii U every year, it would help Nintendo so much.

JtotheY commented on E3 2014: Hands On With Nintendo's New Online S...:

@Kirk Agreed, I think they shouldn't rely on third party anymore. They should create/buy/convince (mostly Western, seeing as they can increase their market share there) studios to make (exclusive) games for them. If they would make a 5-10 year plan for that, they would be unstoppable after those 5-10 years. Looking for new Rares, Retros, Naughty Dogs etc. is what they should be doing right now.

JtotheY commented on E3 2014: Hands On With Nintendo's New Online S...:

@Kirk I agree but I don't think you can just think up a new Metroid/Zelda/Pokémon, it would take years and years. The easier way is to just get more studios on Nintendo's side, studios which can bring AAA games to Nintendo platforms that are missing right now, like those games you mentioned (Last of Us & Witcher). Nintendo needs more Western studios to take some pressure off of themselves, which can give them the time to make such a big new IP.

JtotheY commented on The Wii U Version Of Super Smash Bros. Will Ut...:

Damn they should've definitely kept this news to themselves, immediately people are saying they won't be buying the game, without any of us knowing how the figurines will be implemented. I'm sure it won't affect the core of the game, too much of a risk to be doing that to an already succesful franchise. It could be key to launch some big new franchise a little more on the casual side though.

Arggh, I don't get why everything must be spoiled before E3. I want to be blasted away by everything they have to say at E3, not just be like "knew that, knew this, knew that, oh some more info about something I already knew was coming, cool. Well, guess that was it."

It's weird that indies do this kind of stuff when you're expecting it from the big developers. If I would be a third party studio I would be so excited to try and make games with the Gamepad. Asymmetric gameplay is a gamechanging invention, but nobody sees it
