Re: Overreactions in Gaming

Here's how this place works. There is a Nintendo Life e-mail inbox which is used to hold links to news stories from other unofficial websites and the official Nintendo website. They also receive press release from Nintendo and others.

The position therein, is to publish as much as you can. Everything. The more items the better. There is no editorial function.

The crazy overreaction from a few to any news coverage on this site that isn't praising nintendo, as if all they want is spoon fed propaganda, reporting console sales is kind of what I'd expect from a site dedicated to nintendo news, its not within the power of the site to determine those sales so why people get mad and even go so far as to call the site anti nintendo for nothing more than reporting the facts is beyond me, if a news site reports poor economic data that doesn't indicate they are against the country they are reporting on after all, there's just no logic to it really :/

I think you underestimate the power of gaming journalism. The backlash against Xbox One's always-on Internet connection was amplified through unbalanced reporting. (although the submarine quote really didn't help either) And Microsoft removed the feature. Some might argue, to the players detriment.

So in the case of Wii U, constant stories about a struggling console, at best, do not promote growth, and at worst, contribute towards the failure. I would expect a dedicated fansite, populated by purchasers, to be celebrate the games not trumpet a dud machine.

The Wii wasnt competing against PS360, and was a success for Nintendo.

Do you really buy the whole Wii isn't competing against the 360/PS3 talk? Because let me introduce you to real world, any system that is looking for a space near your TV is in competition. Companies compete over money and how do they get money? By you purchasing their products. So, if a company is making say a gaming console and another company is also making a gaming console...ya get where I'm going here? These are just facts.

I do actually. Of course you can say that everyone is in competion with everyone else. But the Wii wasnt aimed at the average PS360 player.

So they didn't release Kinect and Move to compete with the Wii's Motion controls? They just did it because the average dudebro gamer would absolutely Love games like Kinect Sports and Playstation Move Sports Champions? And it totally didn't affect the Wii's sales in any way? They just bottomed out for some completely unrelated reason?

That just prooves my point though. Microsoft and Sony reacted to Nintendo and chased the market Nintendo had captured. To much less success.

So not only did Nintendo not attempt to compete with Microsoft and Sony, from the outset, they were so succesful that Microsoft and Sony were forced changed their course

Didn't happen again, didn't happen before that. I realised that I had missed it because when playing with the GamePad I had the map right there in my hands. It is a valuable and useful feature even in games that don't "use it".

I guess you must have had difficulty gaming since the early 1990's then, when the map was displayed upon pressing the "start" button, which absolutely no one ever complained about having to do for 20+ years....

That was unnecessary and makes you look like a 'watch the profanity please'

Do you think that Coca Cola are in direct competion with Innocent Smoothies?

P.S. Dont patronise me with 'let me introduce you to the real world', kiddo

Yeah, the only people that care about sales are the MicroSony fanboys that are still furious over the Wii annihilating the PS360....

The Wii won the sprint, but the PS3 and 360 won the marathon, and are still even running circles around the Wii-U

What a lovely soundbite. Unfortunately, it makes no sense outside of your brain.

Re: The Wonderful 101

Has anyone noticed framerate drops, in the "unite-up" cutscenes, since the update.

Seemed a little chopppy to me, first time playing after update

Re: Downloadable Playable Demos

When I completed the points survey for W101, I clicked the boxes that said I bought it because I played the demo.

I suggest you all go out and buy W101 so you can complete the survey and say the same.

Never said it wasn't awesome!

Although, to be fair, and in relation to the OP, it is very slow sometimes. I've seen news here days after everywhere else.....

There's a whole lot of supposition going on there.

Ubisoft said, just two months ago, that they believe in the Wii U.

sounds like they have a plan... but now I wonder what kind of plan it might be... seems promissing!

Well, if I were playing backseat analyst too, I'd guess that they think the hardware sales will grow, so they want to maintain a presence and build a reputation.

Makes sense, don't it?

Re: Thinking about getting a Wii u

Jack_Package

2. What do you think of the Wii U? Games are you currently playing?

Playing Assassin's Creed 3. Im shocked that the only action for the parkour is push forward on the left stick and that the combat is nothing more than a QTE.

I now cannot wait for Mario 3D World. I think the Wii U has the best, exclusive, games

Re: Making the Wii U Most Successful Console Ever

Jack_Package

Seeing as advertising has come up....have we all seen the Assassin's Creed, Batman Arkham and COD adverts specific to individual platforms?

I think money should be spent by Nintendo advertising those games. A simple 'over shoulder' frame, showing the GamePad displaying a map or inventory, could get the message across to the masses that play those games but don't read gaming websites.

He indeed did say internet but its not multiplayer but ghost mode like with rayman.
