HolyDiver commented on 3DS XL Coloured Charging Cradles Sold Out On C...:

I got the yellow cradle to go with my black 3ds xl. I'm worried though because the site was messed up and it took me several tries to get my order through. One of the times it crashed on the last step. My order history ended up showing two orders for the cradle: one for 0 coins and one for 500 coins. I just checked the status of my orders and the 500 coins one was cancelled and the 0 coins one is still in preparing order. I even got the 500 coins back in my account. I'm not sure what to do.

@Damo Excellent article. To be honest I don't read too many of these feature articles, but I really enjoyed reading this one. Maybe in part or all because of how fascinating it is to learn about the history of Yamauchi and Nintendo. Thank you.

HolyDiver commented on The Wonderful 101 Demo Coming to Europe Today:

@Azooooz I don't see how releasing software early to Europe would improve Nintendo sales in Europe. Why not release earlier or at least the same time to North America where more people are buying, which could increase the hype for the game.

HolyDiver commented on Wii U Hardware Still Being Sold At A Loss:

The initial cost to really own a Wii U is more than the $350 price of the console. Add a game, another controller especially if you didn't have a Wii (my case), and maybe even an external hard drive and the cost keeps going up and up and up.

BTW, I'm not saying they should drop the price so that I can go out and buy one. I've already bought the console, 1 pro controller, 2 wii remote+, 2 nunchuks, 1 2TB external hard drive, NSMBU, ZombiU, Lego City, MH3U, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, and several eshop only games all since the release of the Wii U. I think every penny I've spent was well worth it so far. I've barely touched my 360 since I've owned the Wii U.

However as much fun as I'm having on the Wii U I can't convince a single one of my friends to go out and buy it. They see Wii U at $350 with a 32GB hard drive and the PS4 at $400 and say they'd rather have the PS4. I just think somehow reducing the price either by actually dropping it or by including additional games/accessories would convince a lot more people to buy it. As excited as I am for the new Mario and Donkey Kong I don't think they're going to make people choose a Wii U over PS4.

HolyDiver commented on Wii U Hardware Still Being Sold At A Loss:

At launch Nintendo made money after selling one game: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/11/wii_u_becomes_profitable_with_one_game_sale. So they can't be selling the console for that much of a loss. Look at the quote in that article:

"In the end, the business model is still to drive the install base of hardware, and then to drive a strong tie ratio with all of the other software and experiences for the consumer. And if we're able to do that, then we will create significant profit for the company."

I'm sure most people buying their Wii Us throughout the end of this year will also be getting 2 or more of the great new games and additional accessories to go with it. So it's not like Nintendo would be losing out on a lot of money if they cut the price of the console.

HolyDiver commented on Club Nintendo Rewards Get Active for August:

Does anyone think that the rewards will eventually include games that are for the Wii U Virtual Console? I really like having the option to play my Virtual Console games on the GamePad only. I've had Club NIntendo for about a year now and haven't spent any of my coins yet because I'm holding out hope for this. What do you all think?

HolyDiver commented on Looks Like Batman: Arkham Origins Isn't Gettin...:

I could care less about a multi player mode, but right now I refuse to buy a game that leaves out features in the Wii U version of the game for no good reason. It just doesn't make sense. They're just lucky that this is a Batman game that will still probably sell well even on the Wii U.

This is awesome! I would love to purchase a game while at work and have it already downloaded to my console by the time I get home. Of course a change making my downloads linked to my account would be very welcome too.

HolyDiver commented on The Wonderful 101's Download Will Grab Over 10...:

@yvanjean The midnight download is probably my only option if i want to play it on Sep 16th when I get home from work. I'd like to start the download when I leave for work in the morning, but my daughter likes to watch Netflix, which constantly freezes on her when running and exiting the app. We have to pull the plug on the Wii U and I don't want to do that during a 10 GB download.

HolyDiver commented on The Wonderful 101's Download Will Grab Over 10...:

@grumblegrumble I do not see how a cloud based storage solves any problem related to going digital on Wii U. You'd still have to download the games to your console to play them. So Wii U would still need a larger internal hard drive or an external hard drive. If you like the thought of cloud based storage with minimal local storage, then just abuse the eshop. Download the game, play it, then delete it. If you want to play it later, then download it again. Nothing else is possible until games can be streamed from a server without you ever having to download the entire game.

HolyDiver commented on The Wonderful 101's Download Will Grab Over 10...:

I already purchased the Nintendo recommended 2 TB external hard drive by Toshiba. I'm ready to download all future games for my Wii U including The Wonderful 101. In fact I already deposited my $100 in the eShop for the DDP bonus plus extra $10. So it's a great deal and I'm sure there will be plenty more coming that will pay off the cost of the external hard drive and some.

My only disappointment with going digital so far is the extremely long time it takes to download from the eshop. It's so much slower compared to downloading games from Xbox Live. So I'm not too happy about The Wonderful 101 being 10 GB. That's going to take a long time to download.
