grumblegrumble commented on Review: Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder (3DS eShop):

I just knew this title wouldn't get anything above a 5 or 6. And yet, Nintendo advertised it heavily in the e-shop and other places, plus, it was the only download available the week after Christmas for 3DS systems, pretty much. Hopefully we will see SMB3 soon and other gems that other countries have already seen.

Pokemon. Sheesh. If I even liked Pokemon, I might understand, but I have always hated that little yellow creature. Gives me nightmares. lol I'm glad Nintendo addressed the issues publicly and let's hope that they are upgrading their servers as we speak.

@PinkSpider It's her choice. I actually tried to talk her out of it, saying it's the holidays and it will pass in a day or two. A lot of these parents don't have someone they can turn to for this kind of advice, and I hate to think of the ones who will return systems without asking questions.

@MysticX Day long outage? It was nearly 3 days! Where have u been? lol

I don't think Nintendo should offer up free goodies to apologize, but maybe a declaration that they will improve servers. That would do it for me.

@PinkSpider One of these friends of mine tried calling Nintendo and all lines were busy, so she told me she's returning her son's 3DS XL back to Toys R Us tomorrow morning.

Downloading "EDGE" from the e-shop as we speak ;) I finally got through. If I can reach her tomorrow, I will let her know to try the e-shop once more before returning it.

@Webby-sama Speak for yourself. I'm currently writing an essay for my winter session class. What are you doing? lol I won't respond to your weak arguments anymore. Nintendo is shooting themselves in the digital foot. I wish it wasn't the case, but it is. Atari lost market share in the 80's because they couldn't keep up with the times. Look whats happening now.

Ok. Update: e-shop is UP (for me, at least.) Not holding my breath. I live in New Mexico (U.S.) This was followed by a system announcement that Pokemon Bank would be indefinitely suspended until server issues could be ironed out. Those darn Pokemon ruin everything! lol

Edit: Glad i didn't hold my breath. Error message just popped up on the e-shop main screen and said to restart. Undergoing maintenance again. I'm guessing this will be the new norm for the next few days.

@Webby-sama You're totally 100% wrong. Nintendo saw this coming, and they could have been better prepared to handle the onslaught of users. If they intend for us all to buy digital, this is very much the opposite of giving us encouragement to shell out our hard earned dollars for digital products. Just another example why I don't buy anything in the e-shop that costs more than $10. Physical copies of software will continue to reign supreme until they get all this mess sorted out. I'm calling Nintendo tomorrow if the e-shop isn't back up by then. I will ask for a refund for the 3DS cash card that they redeemed and then promptly closed shop after they received the funds 2 days ago.

Merry Christmas.

@Gamer83 Agreed. It looks really bad for Nintendo. The fanboys don't understand that in order to guarantee longevity as a company, Nintendo needs to step up to the plate and bolster their offerings (servers) etc. New users will be left out in the cold. I don't mind waiting, I know that I will be able to access it eventually, but new users have no clue what's going on, just that for 3 days the e-shop hasn't worked. I know of 3 people who returned their systems because they and/or their children could not access the e-shop and download their games or sign up for access. What a shame.

Error Code: 007-5503 "currently undergoing maintenance." Officially on the 3rd day down now in the U.S. Why don't they shut down the e-shop in Japan and give our country a chance to use it? I just don't get it. A lot of you say 'stop whining' but a lot of us have redeemed 3DS cash cards and the e-shop took those, then shut down on us. A lot of new customers are trying to set up their 3DS's, and their kids are not able to use their systems. Nintendo got their money and ran, at least that's the impression others may be getting (and new customers, too.) I understand it's Christmas and everyone is off trying to connect to the shop, but that doesnt mean Nintendo didn't see this coming and couldn't have upgraded servers. So please do not tell us (new and old users) how to feel. The least you could do is offer some sympathy. Thanks.

grumblegrumble commented on Pokémon Bank Withdrawn From 3DS eShop in Japa...:

I heard a family at work today say they will be returning their son's 3DS XL because of the eShop login issues. A lot of people don't understand what the delay is for and don't really care, they are just returning their systems. Nintendo, take note. Update servers! And why on Earth is America's e-shop tied to Japanese servers?!

Error Code: 005-4240. Funny, too, since it worked for me all the way up until the new 3DS e-shop additions this morning. Nintendo really needs to upgrade their servers to maximize connectivity. They are simply losing money on this.

PS Also got Error Code 005-4040
