GrimSh commented on E3 2014: Reggie Fils-Aime Reaffirms Nintendo's...:

Great! That's exactly what I wanted to hear from Reggie. I'm very glad that Nintendo's view of the controller is that of an essential feature for the console and not a gimmick. There's just so much potential to tap into. Keep exploring Nintendo!

GrimSh commented on Here Are Five New Retail Titles Coming to Wii U:

... I bought a Wii U instead of XOne and PS4 so that Nintendo can pay me back with these titles? At least with Wii shovelware didn't matter much because there was also a crap-ton of decent games. This is just.... wow.

Get your stuff together Nintendo. MK8 will be great and all that yeah, but we made a commitment to your console and we could use some love. At least be more enthusiastic about the VC titles....

GrimSh commented on Shenmue 3 Could Happen Via A Kickstarter Campa...:

oh my god.... my favorite game of all time finally getting a proper ending? If this happened I would actually call off work for a week and just to play the game in its full glory. My wife would understand.

GrimSh commented on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Only Sell...:

I think what got to me was the fact that 2013-2014 just happened to be the period of renaissance for a lot of indie platformers. They have approached the genre with such fresh perspectives and twists, and I think many of us really appreciated the retro-ness that all these indie 2D platformers brought.. But since many successful titles on the Wii U eShop already happens to be these indie 2D platformers, Wii U's blockbuster titles should really try and do different things... at least that's how I felt.

Most of the bigger Wii U releases have so far have been platformers already: New Super Mario Bros U, Rayman Legends, SM3DW... and now DK? I just want Nintendo to be bolder in its releases (yes, sequals are great but how about some innovation?), be more active in porting a variety of past goodies, and more eagerly recruit 3rd party support. Why should Sony get all the good Japanese titles?

GrimSh commented on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Only Sell...:

I absolutely loved Donkey Kong series on my SNES growing up, and still hold fond memories of the joy in finally overcoming its sheer difficulties. I am, however, not at all excited for this game and have never believed that it would be a big seller. I just can't see the reason why Wii U would need another platformer when it's already oversaturated with the genre. If I had known that my Wii U library would consist of nothing but Platformers and minigames, I probably would not have purchased one in the first place.

We've all seen the level of polish Nintendo can achieve with the amazing SM3DW, but where the hell is the innovation? Where's the variety? Where's the creative use of the hand-held-second-screen?

Mario Kart 8 and the new Smash Bros. will be great titles for sure, but Nintendo really needs to stop polishing and start innovating. Bring in more RPGs, Fighters, Actions, Strategies, Adventures, Shooters, and Simulations. Port or build or do both. I'm getting sick of weeks and weeks of same old disappointments.

GrimSh commented on Review: Percy's Predicament (Wii U eShop):

No offense to the people who produced this game, but this looks like my first game project that I've created when I was learning Unity. I've not had any firsthand experience with the game, but the video makes me wonder if any of the staff involved had any degree of training in Art or Design whatsoever.

GrimSh commented on Review: Wii Party U (Wii U):

Seems interesting enough, but since I already have NintendoLand as well as Game & Wario in my possession, I'll perhaps read some more reviews before finalizing my decision on whether to purchase this or not.

GrimSh commented on Nintendo Wants To Close Down This Open-Source ...:

I fully support Nintendo in their stance. While I do applaud the college student for making an impressive piece of software, he will understand Nintendo's need to enforce strict copyright laws as one day it will be his intellectual assets that may need to be protected.

GrimSh commented on Hands On: Pure Chess (Wii U eShop):

The graphics do indeed look stunning. While I personally see no merit of purchasing this title as I already own Chessmaster and Fritz, I can definitely see this as being a good entry title to entice the newer chess players.

GrimSh commented on Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass Confirmed f...:

Um... wow. I had no idea that the Wii U version would not include the Online Multiplayer mode. All this time I was sure that I'd be purchasing the Wii U version, but now I think I'll just get the PC version instead. What a bummer.

GrimSh commented on Review: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U):

I'm really tempted to buy this game now that it's on sale for half the price... I'll need some time convincing my wife, however, as I've already spent $20 getting ZombieU just 4 days ago : (

GrimSh commented on Review: The Legend of Zelda (Wii U eShop / NES):

I wonder if they are planning on releasing LttP as a VC title... or maybe they're thinking of porting the 3DS remake sometime in the future? Either way, I hope it comes to Wii U. Can't wait to get back on it.

GrimSh commented on "No Plans" For Ambassador Program Following Wi...:

So its always the loyal fans who get overlooked the most

Not that it matters much... I've gotten my money's worth out of the Wii U console long ago, but losing that tiny ray of hope is never a great feeling : (

GrimSh commented on Wii U Name Isn't To Blame For Poor Sales, Says...:

I know the name isn't Wii U's biggest issue; Lack of software obviously takes the spot. But I do feel that Nintendo's marketing attempts regarding Wii U is incredibly weak. I am surrounded by PC gamers, and virtually no-one around me knew what Wii U really was. A few thought it was an add-on peripheral for the original Wii, some thought it was a handheld console that could play Wii games, and some had no idea what the hell Wii U even was. Mind you this is among the gaming crowd (mostly Dota, PES, and Starcraft players). As a marketer, I am truly baffled as to the direction that Nintendo NA is choosing to take. With an already vague name like Wii U, shouldn't they be doing a lot more to spread awareness? Wii U is no PS4. The name doesn't communicate on its own!

GrimSh commented on Review: Rayman Legends (Wii U):

Even though I'm not a big Rayman fan, the screenshots look downright gorgeous. It almost makes me want to buy the game on its visuals alone.

GrimSh commented on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Downloa...:

Man I'm really undecided on whether to get the DL version or the physical copy. While the small size definitely makes it an attractive DL title, having a box in hand just has that authentic feel to it... esp. for a Zelda title.

GrimSh commented on Animal Crossing: New Leaf Maintains UK Momentu...:

@Mytoemytoe I completely agree with you.

The non-gaming crowd (the precise demographic that Nintendo tries to appeal to) have no idea that Wii U even exists, let alone be aware of the unique features that make Wii U special. When I brought it over to a friend's barbecue, everyone there was completely in love with it in seconds.... even though the only game I brought along was Game & Wario!

I think Nintendo just needs to increase its advertising efforts and help educate the public about the Wii U and what makes it special. Higher console sales = more 3rd party support = even more console sales = winning cycle for all!

GrimSh commented on Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Reportedly Sells Less Than 200...:

I'd definitely get it ASAP if it ever comes to NA. That possibility, however, seems extremely unlikely at this point. I was hoping that the success in Japan would encourage Nintendo to bring it to NA, but now...

GrimSh commented on New Super Luigi U Competition Opens On Miiverse:

This seems like an interesting competition. I know I have no chance of winning myself because beating the game alone was already a good amount of challenge for me. I sure hope there are more of these in the future.

GrimSh commented on 3DS UK Success in 2013 Offset by Abysmal Wii U...:

As a hardcore gamer who grew up with the NES, I've never doubted Nintendo in their ability to make good games, innovate new ideas, and create a solid marketing strategy. But ever since I've bought the Wii U... it seems that my faith in Nintendo is slowly diminishing every single day.

Please don't disappoint your customers Nintendo. A person who invests 400 dollars in a brand-new console system should not be licking his fingers waiting for a new game release every 6 months. Go win some 3rd party support. Go port some more classics to eShop. What happened to you guys???
