For all the US readers, GAME is to the UK what GameStop is to the states... Abysmal. Stay away at all costs. Terrible store, terrible policies. Sadly, GameStop seems to be doing okay. I cannot tell you how much I despise both stores. I know it's wrong of me to want a business to fail, but I just can't help myself.
@Ren. nice try, amigo! there's lots of old school systems in there; Commodore 64, Atari, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis (original and redesign), Sega 32X, Sega CD (original and redesign), Sega Saturn (w/box - Excellent Condition), NES, SNES (with box), Nintendo 64 (w/box - EC), Nintendo GameCube (w/box - EC), Sony PS1, Sony PS2, XBOX... the rest are plugged in and being played still.
between my bro and i growing up, we were a wee bit spoiled with videogame consoles. although my bro bought all the duplicate sega systems. it's funny how we both have all 3 consoles of this generation too. you would think we would've grown up by now!
i think i might be weeding out most of those. see which one my bro wants, if any, then sell the rest... i'm only saying this because i'll be moving overseas this year and it's just so much easier to get rid of everything you don't need and start fresh... however, all of my instruments are off limits!! well, maybe not the piano and organ. stay away from my guitars and percussion!
whenever i think of the WiiU controller, i can't get the image of how terrible the dreamcast screen was... and that's what i'm expecting from U, so anything better than that is a plus.
i still have my dreamcast and it's box with everything inside. excellent shape, as well. too bad i don't have any desire to ever plug it in anymore, but it's resting safely inside it's cardboard house along with other past consoles in their own special cabinet.
the eShop is definitely a step in the right direction. i'm not completely happy/comfortable with it, but it works for what it is. of course, i have issues with PSN and XBLA as well. Sony comes the closest in my opinion with getting it right.
No, no, no... Don't listen to James... That's a giant feathered thingy. Some call those birds. I'll be playing the part of the Dragon for the remainder of this story. Thank you. You will all be amazed how I can shoot fire out of more than just my mouth.
i can't wait to get one in 3 or so years... once they release a black one. i cannot express enough how much i hate seeing that little white box next to all my nice looking electronics. and it hasn't sparked my interest at all, so i'm absolutely in no hurry to snag one up. i need at least 10 solid games on it for me to even consider one... yes, i was burned by the lack of quality support for the wii. not this time!
Luckily for me I have no interest in getting a WiiU at this point so this news doesn't really affect me. Pretty damn stupid on Nintendo's part, but they seem to sell more systems over the competitors regardless so I think they think they know what they're doing. One more reason to not get a WiiU though. And if they start selling repackaged HD Wii games... well, that will be multiple reason for me to never get a WiiU because Im a man of principle. I hate the double dip!
very predictable outcomes. nice to see MotoHeroz getting some love. damn, how i wish that was available on PS3 so i can play it in HD. still awesome on wii, just lacking in that one aspect. ironically, i don't ever think Mario & Zelda games could really benefit that much from an upgrade to HD, but i'm sure once you play the future titles on the U, it'll be hard to go back to anything else. and knowing Nintendo's laziness, i'm sure we'll be seeing Super Mario 64 WiiU or something of the like. How about two (2!!!!) sidescrolling Mario Bros. games on the next system, Ninty!
Game of the Year for me is Rayman: Origins... playing it on PS3. I'm sure the Wii version is just as fun, but damn if the hd graphics don't look amazing in this game! So vibrant and alive. I'm already wanting a sequel. Keep the Platformers coming!!!
Thanks for sharing your memories! Always nice to read accounts of happy times.
@Corbie - Your grandfather sounds a lot like my grandparents. I'm just grateful that mine were in my life for many years of my adult life. Luckily, my mother had them around too after my deadbeat biological "father" left us before I was even one year of age.
When the inevitable 3DS Lite with Analog stick built in gets released, I would be tempted to buy one. Well, if they finally got rid of the region lock nonsense, that is. Why on earth would you include such a thing? Seriously, look how popular the DS Lite is... Why take a superior version of that console and lock it down? It's the only reason I didn't purchase one at launch. Anyway, enough of my ranting... Super Mario 3D Land looks amazing! Sadly, I will only be playing it in dreamland.
Damn, this game looks amazing! It's such a shame the 3DS is region locked. I guess I'll just play it in my dreams... much like I do with other 3DS titles.
hell, i'm just waiting for a region-free 3DS. until that day comes i could care less what games have online play because i don't (and will never) own a handheld system that is region locked. but this is a big fail on nintendo's part. the vast majority of gamers want online multiplayer... it's sad that nintendo is so far behind in regards to that issue.
I'm actually glad to read this news. Not because I'm a Nintendo hater, but because the thing should have never been region locked. That is the one and only reason why I don't own one. I'm not alone apparently. Such a shame because I was really looking forward to getting one until I found out it was going to be locked. I know that's not the main reason the thing isn't selling great, but it certainly doesn't help.
SSX, SSX Tricky & SSX 3 are the only PS2 titles I kept from my library. I just never went back and played any other games besides those three. I would have to say 3 is the best, but Tricky has a special place, as well. Excited for the new PS3 one? Hell yeah! The video from E3 was amazing.
I never bought this game because it was only available on the Wii and I like to play fighting games using an arcade fighting stick... currently I only own one for my PS3 and I don't plan on buying another one for the Wii. Sadly, that means no TvC for me on the Wii. (I like to rhyme.) Bummer.
Get rid of the region lock and you'll automatically have 3 sold to me within minutes. I know some think it's a petty thing, but for those of you who are world travelers and just don't live in your own little world, it's a damn big deal. Region lock = no sale.
sadly, this is the final nail in the coffin for me in regards to purchasing a 3DS or not. when you live in both America and England, like myself, you tend to want to be able to play 3DS games that you purchase in both countries without having to buy another region specific 3DS. another drawback is when you travel and come across a game you might want and there's no point in buying it since you can't play it. an example of this is when i picked up Tennis no Oujisama 2005 Crystal Drive on DS from Japan. excellent tennis on the DS. damn you, nintendo! if only a way to crack this nonsense appears...
yeah, it's officially unofficial arrival on the PS3 & 360 are imminent... http://kotaku.com/5596191/yeah-looks-like-nba-jam-is-coming-to-the-xbox-360--ps3 PS3 version, here i come! (that's the system that i have a fightstick for, and i prefer to play this title arcade style) but will it be a retail release or a download on those? :-/
I'm still waiting for this to hit the PS3 because that's the only platform that I have a fightstick for... and that's the only way I truly like to play fighting games. The game looks great if you ask me! I am glad it sold better than expected. Anybody have any word on this actually making it's way onto PS3?
i think it's called envy. as far as 3D games... how much more idiotic would you look wearing glasses instead of flailing around with a wimote in your hand pretending its a sword, tennis racket or bowling ball? this man defines the term hypocrite. just for the record, i dont really have any interest in 3D games, but apple truly is making products that people want. just because they are not branded with Nintendo doesn't mean they shouldn't exist.
would probably give it a go for 500 pointsee-wointsees. i'll just stick with one of my many tetris games.... and i can't even try the demo, being how its only for windows. oh well.
meh. that's right. i said it. not for the game itself... just because i only have a fightstick for my ps3 and i'm not buying another one for the wii just to play this game. if it wasn't a wii exclusive it would already be in my hands... not that i mind exclusives, just the damn fightstick issue. that's the only way i like to play fighting games. so no go for me.
