May get Kirby's Block Ball, as I love Arkanoid-style games, and just to support 3DS VC! I'd encourage everybody to do the same. After all, the more VC games are sold, presumably the more often NoA will release them!
This is a start, but still waiting for Super Mario Land 3 and Kid Icarus: Of Myths & Monsters that have been out elsewhere for MONTHS. I don't think SML 3 will be here until around August when the release of NSMB 2 is close, though. And I have no idea what to think of Kid Icarus. Hoping since they're things many are looking forward to that something will be said at E3 (plus hoping for TLoZ: A Link to the Past remake news).

To hear of all these VC announcements is nice. Except none of them are for North America. Guess that's pretty telling in itself that VC is about the lowest priority for NoA. At this point, I'd take a lesser title just for it being a sign of life.

No, it's a political ploy by Republicans to brainwash video gamers into conservatism, through constantly having them move toward the right! That means when you reach your villainous opponent, he's facing LEFT! I didn't realize that politicians had stuck their grubby hands into video games. It's a right wing conspiracy, a CONSPIRACY I TELL YOU!

By the way, I think I've figured out when we'll get Super Mario Land 3. Since it's taken so long to release SML 3 that New Super Mario Bros. 2 has been announced, it wouldn't surprise me if NoA holds off on SML 3 until around the time NSMB 2 is released. Which isn't terribly far off, if the August release date for NSMB 2 holds. That would be in line with NoA releasing Super Mario Land 2 about a month or month-and-a-half before Super Mario 3D Land's release last Autumn. Of course, I'll believe NoA following a logical pattern when I see it.
I just pray they're not holding Kid Icarus: OMM for the next Kid Icarus game.

For a change, I can't complain quite as loudly. SSFII does show signs of life for Wii VC (though I wouldn't be surprised if it's the LAST Wii VC game we see). I'm going to get it in a few short minutes, to support VC, and because I'm a Street Fighter II collector (God, I hope we see arcade-perfect SFII on Wii U VCA).
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't discouraged and ticked off by another week without 3DS VC, though. I'm so tired of some of NoA's practices. We're having a 3DS VC drought after a few months like we didn't have on Wii VC until like year 3. I guess they think all the people here want is -Ware shovelware (and yes, I know there are some great DSi/3DSWare games).
Worst of all to me, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters STILL is not even ESRB rated, so it might come next month or next year (or not at all). They were bass ackwards with the KI games. They could've used 3D Classics and OMM to promote Uprising, as was done in Europe, Japan, and I imagine everywhere else. They couldn't do that, though. It would've made actual marketing sense. Nor is there even a demo to show those on the fence about Uprising what an amazing experience it is. It all adds up to disappointingly lukewarm sales for Uprising here in the States.
@grumblebuzzz
Funny to hear about Mugbook users complain, when some of them are probably completely mesmerized by insipid FB social games. Knowing this might inspire me to actually use FB again, to do some complaining of my own at Nintendo's FB page. Perhaps others will join me in telling them we want moar 3DS and Wii VC?
I don't want to close out with negativity, though. We do, at last, have another Wii VC game. And you know what? I'm going to go buy some Nintendo Points, then spend them like they're burning a hole in my TV, on SSFII! SHORYUKEN!!!

The day I have to use a piece of BLEEP, unresponsive touchscreen alone to attempt controlling Mario on an Apple product is probably the day I turn in my video gamer's membership card and hang up my control pad. That day will likely mean social game like FarmVILE and smartphone shovelware have taken over gaming, and I'll need to find a new hobby.
Watching paint dry would possibly be more entertaining than gaming at that point. I exaggerate, but not by much.

FluttershyGuy commented on Mega Man Legends 3 Campaign Hits 100,000 Strong:
I'm sorry to say the campaign could reach 1,000,000 and Capcom wouldn't change their mind. They're basically through with Mega Man PERIOD with Inafune gone, however many fans there are out there. Also, these video game companies do what they want regardless of fan input. The absence of Earthbound on VC is proof of that. NoA probably did always plan to release at least two Project Rainfall games later than everybody else as a way of covering release gaps, so I'm not sure if it can be credited for Xenoblade & The Last Story coming here.

FluttershyGuy commented on Nintendo Reveals New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS:
I couldn't grasp it at first, but I think I now understand some of the negativity surrounding this. When something beloved from your childhood (or a happy time in your past) makes a comeback, you hold high expectations for it that are impossible for it to meet. In the end, disappointment is almost a certainty. You could probably call it "Star Wars Prequel Syndrome." There was a long gap between Super Mario Bros. side-scrollers. New Super Mario Bros. came out some 15 years after Super Mario World (11 years after SMW "2": Yoshi's Island, if you'd rather count it). There was so much different about NSMB from people's memories of the last side-scrolling Mario game that I think a lot of negativity was connected to it. But, like they say, "you can't go home."
I was guilty of this too when it came to NSMB, as I wanted more of what came from past Marios. As soon as I heard that new (bop bop) theme song, it started to turn me off on it. In time I came to enjoy it on its own merits, though. I think the best thing you can do is come into it with an open mind and forget (to an extent) that it has "Super Mario Bros." anywhere in the title.
Truthfully, I am disappointed that they're continuing the SMB 3 theme after it was so prevalent in 3D Land. However, that's based on my own bias toward Super Mario World, and desire to see a Super Mario Bros. 2-themed Mario again (plus I know it could still happen with NSMB Mii). Nintendo rarely disappoints, and as important as a Super Mario Bros. title is for them financially, they won't here either!
I'm personally happy to see with this, and New Super Mario Bros. Mii, that this new generation isn't going to see Nintendo abandoning traditional Mario side-scrollers as they did in the N64 & GameCube era. Personally, as a huge fan of the originals and side-scrollers in general, that was a dark time for me as a gamer, with Nintendo almost entirely ignoring 2D and side-scrollers. Regardless of what fancy graphics a new system can create, I NEVER want to see an era like that again.
Now, there has been a lot of Mario lately, with Nintendo trying to build up momentum with 3DS. However, it has been almost 6 years since the DS NSMB, and 2 1/2 years since NSMB Wii.
Oh, since they're going with the Super Mario Bros. 3 theme again, I hope they bring back the frog suit, Hammer Bros. suit, and Kuribo's shoe. Wish they'd gone with the SMW cape, as I liked the look of it and tilting back while floating to lift up a little, but I have hopes for NSMB Mii. Also, this needs TONS more Yoshi than those little guest-starring levels he had in NSMB Wii!

FluttershyGuy commented on Feature: Super Mario on Wii U - Crowd Pleaser ...:
I kind of think NSMB Mii (assuming that's its final name) will be themed like Super Mario World (or SMB 4 as it officially is in Japan). Remember how NSMB Wii (even though it was the second NEW SMB) was themed after SMB 3, with the Koopa Kids & airships? Well, this being the sequel, and the Super Mario 4 domain buy makes me wonder if it'll be heavily connected to World (fingers crossed!!!), even if only spiritually.
I'd love to go back to finding secret areas like you did in SMW. Also, MUCH, MUCH more Yoshi, a world map like SMW's, and PLEASE change the NSMB theme song (never was crazy about it... you know, with the "bop bop" in it?).
@Eureka
Nintendo is really going to want this to shine side by side with comparable games like LBP.
I don't see a chance of this missing a level editor/creator. With the popularity of LittleBigPlanet, and Nintendo now joining Sony in the world of HD, I'm sure Nintendo will take this opportunity for Mario to show Sackboy who the MAN is (Ric Flair: WOOOOOOOO)!

I'd have no problem with (and actually prefer) the NSMBMii game they demoed last E3. Yeah, it wasn't incredibly impressive, but its purpose was merely a preliminary showing off of Mario in HD. I have no doubt the actual game would be light years beyond last year's demo in terms of graphics and gameplay, and be worthy of the title Super Mario Bros. 4 (if that is indeed what this is)! Whether 2D or 3D, you can bet Nintendo is going to want it to be a groundbreaking showcase of Wii U's power. So, those of you worried that a side scrolling Mario wouldn't be that great, I'd rest easy. I for one wouldn't be surprised to see it take some pages out of LittleBigPlanet's book in terms of creativity (and improve on it). Imagine ENDLESS GAMER-CREATED MARIO LEVELS!!! FLUTTERSHY SQUEE

It has been a very, VERY long time since we've seen Mouser, Fryguy, Triclyde, and especially WART! When are we gonna see these guys again? Birdo and Shy Guy are the only Super Mario Bros. 2 (or SMB USA in Japan) characters to get any love from Nintendo in the decades since! It'd be a nice surprise to see them again sometime, maybe in the upcoming Wii U or 3DS Marios. I'd like to have seen Wart as a driver in Mario Kart 7. Oh well, maybe Mario Kart 8 (or playable in Super Smash Bros. 4)!

FluttershyGuy commented on Miyamoto to Show Wii U Mario at E3:
I hope it's out at launch (preferably with the Wii U). A Nintendo console launch just doesn't feel right to me without Mario. It didn't hurt the Wii being Mario-less at launch, but I wonder if the GameCube might've been more successful had it launched with Super Mario Sunshine (nothing against Luigi and his mansion
). Fingers crossed for this and/or the next 3DS Mario being a traditional side scroller!

). They deserve for it to be a multi-million seller, and I've grown so attached to the characters that I don't want this to be the last I see of them!
You're right, a demo is the one thing that Nintendo hasn't done yet, which it should. I think the entire first chapter is long enough to give people a taste of its greatness and make them want more! The only thing wrong with it is that the great, hilarious dialogue doesn't really start until a little later (then again, there is the Twinbellows dialogue about Nintendog, LOL). What Nintendo should also do to promote the game (and make some money) is offer the AR Cards like baseball cards, and even offer them at grocery store check out aisles! In North America, releasing KI: Of Myths and Monsters couldn't hurt keep the Kid Icarus name on people's minds. I guess the only other thing is word of mouth. I do hope it has legs, though (and I'm not talking about Mimicutie, LOL). To me, it truly is a landmark, great achievement in gaming, from top to bottom. You can tell people put their hearts into it, from the people behind the scenes to the voice actors (who really sound like they were enjoying themselves
I've seen a lot far less-worthy games succeed, for example the now-commonplace first-person shooter, and fitness games. Maybe it would've sold 2 million by now if the cover showed Pit on the cover holding an assault rifle, or Lady Palutena doing pilates (shrugs shoulders). Great quality isn't always an indicator of success. My favorite (and most painful) recent example is "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World". An incredibly imaginative, beautiful movie with great performances. But, it was up against "The Expendables" at the box office (what I consider a pretty average shoot-em-up with lots of big stars), and it bombed. It's become a cult hit, but it deserved better and I doubt a sequel will ever be made. I don't want to see a repeat of that with Uprising.
@cyrus_zuo
I found that in a short time, 2-3 days, you get used to it WITHOUT the stand (as a matter of fact I find it takes away precision). Kind of having your left hand fingers spread out, and the pinky finger bracing the front a little helps. I have relatively small hands and was able to adjust to it. What took the most getting used to for me was using the stylus to turn around in land battles, but you also get a feel for how fast you can turn, and it's adjustable. Actually, I don't think you'd have near the precision for firing with any other control scheme excluding the stylus. Sora knew what they were doing, but also knew people might need an adjustment period, hence the stand.
Finally, especially as word spreads that this is one of the best games available for any system right now, I think Uprising will be the perfect standard bearer for Nintendo in the months to come and beyond! I'm afraid Nintendo is going to struggle, but so is everybody else. What I understand from other articles is that game sales are down 25% from this time last year. Just about everything and everybody (except the rich) are struggling right now. I guess Patcher will use today's figures to try to tell the world traditional gaming is doomed, that you all may as well be getting used to playing Angry Birds on your iPad, or Farmvile on Mugbook (even after HUNDREDS of ignored requests, a FB friend won't stop sending FV requests).

For Nintendo to already be scaling back on 3DS VC (especially in North America, apparently the reigning red-headed stepchild of Nintendo Co. Ltd.) makes me fear for there being a Virtual Console at all on Wii U. While a lot of VC games have been released, there are so many classics yet to be released for all consoles/handhelds, and it'll be a system that (presumably) could handle emulation of games for the likes of GameCube, Saturn, and Dreamcast!
At any rate, Nintendo of America makes it appear clearer and clearer every week that the retro gamer like me and others here are quite insignificant. I'm just shell-shocked by the disparity between NoE and NoA's recent updates. I'd love to see more of what I want and actually have something positive to say on these updates.

Is this a bad sign for Wii U, when an A+ title will be released for a prior generation's console, but not your next-gen console that is supposedly more powerful? Is this an unspoken indicator by Capcom that Wii U isn't very powerful, or does it simply have to do with RE6's release date being before Wii U?
@Sony_70
Yup, that picture pretty well sums up Capcom's STEEP fall from grace in my eyes. I've lost respect for them I'd built up over decades. It's sad. My three favorite third parties, Capcom, Konami, and Square Enix are presently shadows of their former selves (at least in my opinion). Whether it is connected, or it is an official SMB 4 for regions outside Japan, it's a good thing(I hope this is for side-scroller Mario, though... I want another good old traditional 2D Mario like I grew up with

I thought numbering in most game series had become out dated anyway.

Some of my problems with NoA are: An apparent lack of thought process, poor timing, and no consistency.
For example, NoA could've further promoted Kid Icarus: Uprising and tided over KI fans in the weeks leading up to its release as Europe did, by releasing 3D Classics KI along with Of Myths and Monsters. They didn't do that. 3D Classics isn't even officially released, it's offered through GameStop. Things like that indicate a complete lack of marketing prowess, or simple brain cell usage.
Maybe they're holding OMM until they think most people will be totally finished with Uprising. Meaning we may not see it until 2013!!!

Often at other threads, if such and such game is announced, somebody will wonder why they haven't made such and such yet. For example, if a Mario Kart game is announced in a story like this, someone like me might gripe about why they keep bringing out new MK games, and yet there's been no F-Zero in years and years. Or why Mario gets all the attention, and not (fill in ignored franchise here).

FluttershyGuy commented on Castlevania: The Adventure Whips Japan Next Week:
I'm pleasantly shocked to see ANY VC activity from Konami, as I don't believe they've released anything on VC or any other Nintendo download platform, since Castlevania: Rondo of Blood! Metal Gear Solid 3D is one of the few games Konami's released on a Nintendo system lately PERIOD! So, I'm thrilled to see this not only because it's a Castlevania release, but also because Konami is showing some signs of life (they've been a non-factor to me for years now).
Also, seeing any new Castlevania release (even if it's an old one) is a relief, as Castlevania has been in decline for a while now, with no brand new installments announced (I feel like they don't know where to go with it after "rebooting" with Lords of Shadow). Now this gives me hope for Castlevania: Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps (how about long-missing original NES Contra too...).

FluttershyGuy commented on Game Gear Hits North American eShop on 15th March:
I'll have to get Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble at least, so I can at long last play a Game Gear game (I FULLY supported Nintendo in the 8 bit, 16 bit, and handheld wars, so never put my hands on a Game Gear) and see what all the fuss was about back when (aside from being a battery killer).
Is Dragon Crystal an RPG along the lines of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest? I'm tempted, but want to find out more first.
That reminds me, unrelated to Game Gear, I hope we see Game Boy Final Fantasy Adventure & Legend games one day.

FluttershyGuy commented on Nintendo Download: 8th March 2012 (Europe):
Congratulations, Europeans! This is one of the most impressive Nintendo Download weeks I can ever remember seeing, and you are so overdue for the superb Mega Man X! And I imagine Kid Icarus OMM is amazing too (hope to find out one of these weeks). Being in the US, I am envious of this in comparison to the typical bare bones week North America will likely have.

FluttershyGuy commented on North America, These Are Your Upcoming eShop G...:
After seeing Europe's Nintendo Download JUGGERNAUT for this coming week, I'm not even a teensy weensy bit impressed. Underwhelmed would be an understatement. Where's Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, Super Mario Land 3, and more Wii VC? Since NoA seems incapable of releasing more than one VC game in a given week, I suppose the aforementioned Game Boy games won't stand a chance at release until March 22nd. I am interested in finally playing a Game Gear game, but was really waiting for KI-OMM and SML3.
Hmmmm. I WAS thinking getting Punch-Out with save state would at long last allow me to defeat Mike Tyson, but it isn't Tyson I'd be beating, DAMMIT!
Beating a palate swap isn't the same thing as beating Ear-biting, Child-eating, The Hangover-starring effing Iron Mike Tyson!

Did I just read that, or dream it? Congrats, my European friends!
Now, watch us North Americans get squat in March, hee hee (of course, Reggie did announce The Last Story for us, I'll wait and see).

FluttershyGuy commented on Aonuma Drops a Note About More Zelda Titles:
The "balloons" Aonuma has added in the bottom corners of the screen? If you stuck me in the pic, my balloon would read "Hell yeah!"
