It's a mix of Rune Factory and Animal Crossing from what my friend told me playing the Japanese version. More like Rune Factory in the battling and the fact that you do have to proceed through the game and unlock things. Everything isn't available to you as soon as you start the game. You have to finish challenges to unlock new areas and there's item hunting.

You people must be the type to finish games in a weekend if you're somehow bored. I still have 3-4 games from last year that I still need to get.

I don't expect Smash Bros to come until the holiday time but I'm excited for Kirby, Disney Magical World, Shantae and possibly Lego Hobbit. I'm still playing through AA: Dual Destinies but I hope Layton vs. Wright is announced for about summer. I still believe we'll see Puzzle & Dragons this year and also Sonic Boom is for this year isn't it? I could see Theatrhythm possibly making it by end of the year as well.

Also how did One Piece Unlimited get left off this list? It's only April guys. Let's try not to predict the whole year in just four months. Is 3DS content the problem or is the real problem localization? Most people are talking about making successor but the people in Japan have plenty of 3DS games to play and games coming out steadily. It's just not trinkling to the west as fast.

People need to relax. I'm still playing through Dual Destinies and most people are still playing through the last Prof Layton which just came out last month. It was confirmed for NA in a nintendo direct last year. It'll probably come out in about June/July.

Looks great to me. The designs are meh but Destructoid (I believe) played some of it since it's been in development for quite some time (2 years I believe) and they said it reminded them of Ratchet and Clank. Which isn't a bad thing to me since I loved those game.

This brought me back to the Sonic Heroes and Sonic Adventure days on dreamcast and gamecube. It'll also be nice to play someone besides sonic. Two different developers mean that we won't get any awful scaled back ports.

I'm not really a fan of this kind of game, but how are people complaining about waiting for a game that is not even finished? It's not coming out in Japan until about October so how could you expect it earlier? This isn't the version of MH4 that came out last year.

@hwrose379

It needs to be the year of both of them. When you downplay one for the other, you have the problem Wii U had in 2013 with the 3DS getting majority of the games and the problem Sony always has with the Vita vs. PS3/PS4. I don't have a problem with the Wii U getting more attention, focus and more game releases than the 3DS as long as one of them doesn't get treated like an ugly step child.

Nintendo definitely needs to have some Wii U plans for E3 this year though for sure. Not so much the 3DS because I don't feel like it needs E3 for announcements and hype as much.

@Dreamcaster-X

Oh I know Bravely Default probably won't sell huge but I think Kirby Triple Deluxe will probably do pretty well. Disney Magic might surprise people and become a huge hit ala Animal Crossing since it's been a year and the play time for those type of games tend to drop off at around a year. Most of my friends hardly play Animal Crossing anymore.

Zelda wasn't announced until about April wasn't it? Luigi's mansion came out in about March I think and Pokemon was announced in January. I think the next nintendo direct might hold some new game announcements.

I love how everyone knows that this year won't be as good as last year in the second week of January. How good this year does depends on your taste.

Me Personally I'm looking forward to
Kirby Triple Deluxe
Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney
Super Smash Bros
Conception II
Shantae
Lego the Hobbit
Bravely Default

Out of that list, all but Super Smash Bros is expected out before June. That doesn't include the one's I'm passing on like Professor Layton and One Piece. I may get Disney Castle. There's also a chance that Puzzle & Dragons and Harvest Moon will be localized this year. It's only the beginning of the year, I'm sure they've got other surprises and announcements for this year. People just need to relax and wait. Announcing all their games for the year in January will just feel empty for the rest of the year even if they're excellent games.

@CanisWolfred Definitely not going out and saying he's totally wrong like some of the hardcore people out there. It really comes down to whether the things he pointed out are important to you. I've seen reviewers take points off of games for music which has never meant anything to me really. I had already made up my mind about getting this game. I really wish all games would come out with demos though, because then everyone could form their own opinion on it before buying.

And just in case other people wanna check the other sites out
Computerandvideogames
Gameinformer
DigitalSpy
VideoGamer
IGN gave it a 9.4 and Gametrailer a 9.8. The only review that seems TOTALLY off is Destructoid who gave it a 6.5 and they got torn apart for it.

I'm looking forward to this so much. I'll be broke, but I'll be happy.

feelthesarcasm commented on System Update Will Allow You To Share eShop Ba...:

Maybe it's just me but I don't see the big deal about having games tied to an account. I have a PS3 and I still don't feel like I own the game just because it's tied to my account. You still can't have it active on two systems (you have to deactivate one before you can play it on another) I guess the biggest deal is re-purchasing if you have multiple systems which I can see being a pain..

I just feel like people exaggerate some of the advantages. I don't really plan on losing or breaking my 3DS and it could happen yes, but I don't see the chances of that happening drastically increasing by 300% just because I bought something connected to the system.

As far as being able to play games on Wii U and 3DS VC but only paying once? Why would they do that? There are VERY few games that work that way on the PSV/PS3. You're just asking for too much now. There should only be same system sharing but not cross platforming for everything.

PS3 still ties saved game data to your system (making your account pretty worthless for disc games with the exception of trophies) and you have to start the game over on another PS3 system even if you're logged in. So every company has something to work on.

@rjejr You're still thinking about it as if the only reason people would pass the 3DS is because this is cheaper. Some parents weren't considering the 3DS at all because of the clamshell and 3d so a 2DS only being $40 cheaper wasn't really anything that concerned them. Not to mention, $40 may not sound like a lot but it's the price of one brand new game (ie: Pokemon) so system + game vs. just system for 169 was enough.

@Bray42 Where do you live? I see a 2DS commercial featuring AC:NL. Mario & Luigi DT and Pokemon at least every day.

And maybe to you it's lazy parents but to me it's for parents that don't do gaming or handheld gaming. My sister knows nothing about how to operate a 3DS (even though she has a PS3) or how to do parental controls and keeping the slider down isn't sufficient enough since it can easily slide up. It's not a huge step but if it's totally eliminated who cares? They're not losing out on anything.

I don't even have my copy yet but it's great to see that it sold so much. Considering there were 1.2 million copies preordered in Japan, I expected it to be somewhere around the 2 million mark. And a lot of people downloaded it off the eshop when the game sold out at retail. I could definitely see this breaking 10 million by the end of the year.

I haven't played pokemon since Silver so I'm really excited to jump back into it. I know a good amount of pokemon through the cartoon. A lot of people who left pokemon years ago are coming back just from the graphics update alone. It's great to not be a little oval on the map anymore!

@ikki5 Don't be so quick. I think this seriously might beat GTA V in lifetime sales. While it sold 17 million, mostly everyone that wanted the game, has it already. Pokemon has always been one of those games to have a long shelf. A lot of people are getting it for christmas and all so I think it's possible for them to catch up in overall lifetime sales.

Unfortunately windwaker will be blown away next weekend with Pokemon.

I don't think WW is coming out too close to ALBW because it's on a different system. I just don't think it was the kind of zelda game people wanted. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 was an HD remake of a two 10 year old games and it sold like hotcakes. I always thought people were more excited for SM3DWorld, Sonic Lost World and DK (before the delay) over WW anyway and it was more of a "I'll pick it up eventually" games than "I need it right now!"

With everything coming out at the end of this year, I actually don't mind waiting till early 2014. It's better to have great games spread out then have them all come out during only part of the year. Keeps you playing all year long.

Still will be getting this as soon as it comes out though. And English voiceovers never usually bother me, even with how high pitched and squeaky they tend to be. Japanese voiceovers just tend to annoy me after a while.

How can you complain about things that they should have added if this is suppose to be a compliment, not a new version of the 3ds. Had they would have added an extra circle pad, better battery life, iit wouldn't have been the same and consumers might have preferred it because it seems somewhat superior and it really would have been a replacement.

I'm still getting an XL and if my nephew didn't have an original one already I would have gotten him this one with no problem and he wouldn't have cared what it looked like because it would have been better than what he had, which is nothing.

And for people saying it's ugly, who cares if it plays games. I didn't get a PS3 because it's a beautiuful thing. It's just giant black rectangle, like most gaming consoles. If a child has never had a 3ds, they'll appreciate it. I wouldn't buy this to replace one that someone already has, but as a first it'd work. There are a lot of kids who didn't have a DS or DSi because they were too young for it and are just becoming of age. They won't miss what they never experienced.

Seriously October's a barsteward on wallets but I think they just wanted it out because they didn't want it to get lost in the holiday season since it's a download only title. And November isn't much safer with Mario Party and Zelda ALBW.

I only hope Shantae isn't announced for October as well or I'm doomed!

@Senario Now that I think about it, I see what you mean. I recently went into gamestop to get my nephew DKCR and the 3DS section is always in a corner and sometimes the new games don't even have display boxes on the shelf. Which is a shame.

And those are excellent numbers...for the 3ds. The fact that M&L has only been out for a month, I expect sales to really ramp up for the holiday season. And really surprised with FE:A. I'm not really a SRPG person and I didn't know anything about the series before this game. Hopefully this will encourage more localizations.

They never said you couldn't still transfer if you happen to have two systems. I'm sure if you do, they will allow that. But this is for people who DON'T have two systems to have their pokemon stored for $5 bucks a year. People were all ready to buy an entire new 3DS (or 2DS) just to trade with themselves, but now they want to whine about $5 a year?

As for me? I don't have any of my former pokemon games. Haven't bought once since silver so I wouldn't really need one nor do I have the obsession with catching them all.

feelthesarcasm commented on Round Table: Let's Talk About the 2DS and Wii ...:

@Doma

Because of the 3DS backwards compatibility with DS games, those aren't really titles nintendo would expect to sell hugely in their 3DS versions. Most people who had nintendogs for the DS didn't need to get the new one because it was essentially the same game. And since it works on their DS, it wasn't incentive to buy it. The only people who would buy that game are.

1. People who didn't have the DS game
2. People who wanted the cat inclusion.

And as far as the PS3/Xbox360 being child friendly. Only parents who are gamers will go through the trouble of downloading games for the PSN. If their kids aren't gamers, they're not going to care about things that are only for digital downloads. Parent's buy games that are advertised in stores and have tv commercials. Not to mention they might be apprehensive of buying systems where games are being phased out, because I would almost bet that LBP 3 will NOT be coming to PS3 when they're ready to release it. Right now wii has the family market locked up pretty well. And if Wii U can get better known, it will take that market as well. Parent's who aren't gamers tend to stick with the same brand.

feelthesarcasm commented on Nintendo's Scott Moffitt: 3DS and Vita Have Ve...:

I don't want a Vita because I don't really game outside the house and I have a PS3 right here. Most of the games on PSN I can download for my PS3 at home. Little Big Planet on the Vita has different levels but I can play that on the PS3. Same with Dragon's Crown. To download from the PSN you need a HUGE Sony card (since they no longer allow SD cards) and it costs 80 bucks for a 32gb.

Maybe I would buy a vita if I didn't have a PS3, but to me $200+ isn't enough to play games that I can play on a system I already have at home. Plus, I just like having two different systems from two different companies. 3DS has Pokemon, Zelda, Scribblenauts and my PS3 has LBP, Tales of Xilla and Uncharted. I'm not missing out on anything. Unless I'm going on a trip, my 3DS really doesn't leave the house daily. I compared both systems and there were more 3ds exclusive games I couldn't get on my PS3.

Also, I don't believe the 2ds sales will be a separate thing. Much like the 3DS XL still counts as 3DS sales. The name is simply because they couldn't figure out a good way to emphasize this 3ds doesn't have 3d lol

The design isn't the best but I fully support the flatness. If anyone has ever watched a child play with their 3DS, I notice they normal push the top screen all the way up (until it clicks) essentially making the system flat except for the ridge.

It's not the name, it's the vagueness of the system! Wii U is no different if they used Wii 2. That's what the other systems have been doing and no one's had a problem with them. When I first heard about the Wii U I thought it was just the gamepad. And I was confused because I was like "Well the 3ds just came out, why would they have another handheld"

When I finally found out what it was, I didn't get one because of the games and because I still don't understand it. You still play with the Wii controller and nunchuck? Or can you do it with the gamepad?

You're thinking of people who haven't looked into the 3DS market at all. Parent's who specifically said no to the 3DS because of 3D would assume that something like 3DS lite or flat are just that. Light and flat versions of the 3DS. With an entirely new name they're going to stop and ask "what's that?".

I don't think it'll be that big of a deal. Parents are confused regardless if they aren't gamers. Plus the box says it plays DS and 3DS games. Parent's are still confused about DS and 3DS games. They'll be told the difference once and they won't forget, it's simple. Or after the kids get the 2ds, they will tell their parents.

feelthesarcasm commented on Talking Point: Nintendo's Low-Key Approach to ...:

@kirk

But as others have said before, if you've never held it, how can you say it's better? From the way it was being held in the commercials, it looks comfortable, Unlike the original 3ds that most people hold by the bottom piece, you'd hold this by the middle. So making the bottom screen larger would probably be really awkward for a system you're holding by it's middle because you'd have to hold it further away from your body to fully be able to see both screens. Besides, I'm sure they are saving the bigger screens for an XL version.

You're also taking away the fact that this is for CHILDREN. I don't know if you have children but they won't understand the sleep button also being the power button. They will more likely just push it and turn the system off by accident.
