@BulbasaurusRex It's not that I'm lashing out at Intelligent Systems or anything, it's just that it is an option that is simply too unnecessary to include.

Imagine that in the next Mario Kart they include an option that whenever you get struck by an enemy projectile, you recover instantly losing no speed whatsoever, what is the point of playing with items when you have the option of simply shrugging them off? Exactly.

I agree that Pair Up was finally given the much needed balance it deserved, for it was pretty broken in Awakening where you could simply make outstanding pairs that could plow the entire enemy's army with little effort.

@Gerbwmu Both path of radiance and radiant dawn sold pathetically low, hence the reason why Nintendo gave Intelligent Systems one last shot to deliver a proper Fire Emblem that could sell pretty good. Awakening was that last shot and because it sold like pancakes, Nintendo saw that the franchise had untapped potential and decided to continue the releases.

I don't blame Intelligent Systems for choosing the 3DS once more as the console for the next entry, since Awakening sold wonders there and because it's no secret that the Wii U is doing horribly at the moment, so releasing it there would be a waste, and remember this, the Fire emblem crossover with SMT will be a huge flop once it comes out for a myriad of obvious reasons.

Fire Emblem won't return to home consoles unless the NX proves to be viable like the Wii or similar.

@WillTheLion Agreed 100%, on the first chapters of the manga, both Red and Green do battle with Mew, only to be utterly defeated, ergo, the reason why he/she/it is bundled with them, simple as that, the connection is there, you just have to be arrogant not to acknowledge it.

It's like you said, the manga is based on the video game characters, hence, it's the same source.

@Damo So, if I follow your illogic logic, Toon Link and Link from the forgettable tv series are one and the same since both are cartoony. Way to go.

If you can find an interview with Satoshi Tajiri or Ken Sugimori where they clearly state that Red and the loser are the exact same character, then you can call Red whatever you desire. In the meantime, just be a professional journalist and report things for what they are, regardless of your posture on the matter.

Phoenix mode is simply too offensive to even exist, that makes the game too easy, it's just basically GOD MODE with a different name, not to mention that it makes the strategy element non-existent in a game where strategy is key. At least casual mode removes the fallen units for the current battle you're facing, making it possible for you to be outnumbered and ultimately slaughtered.

@Maxz That was my gripe towards this article in general. I despise the anime series for being eternal on giving the loser a meaning to his life, but I love the manga series and the myth that Red created around himself on that universe. The cap and hair are clearly based on Red's first appeareance on Red/Blue for the GB. It's insulting that they don't acknowledge their mistake.

For heaven's sake.... Nintendolife... this is redding RED, RED, not that other pathetic loser who can't win even if his life depended on it, stop confusing the 2 on every article you put online, I was gonna dismiss the figure when I read the loser's name, but then I noticed that it was Red the one who is in figurine form.

@Zetro You have a valid reason for upgrading since you wear glasses and the new 3ds offers you an option to enjoy it as it was originally intended, but I don't wear glasses, so I don't have a valid reason for the upgrade. The only reason I am gonna upgrade is if Nintendo launches more 1st party exclusive titles for the system. Period.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS is Yet to ...:

The real issue here is the same as always: Nintendo not putting out enough incentives for people to finally do the upgrade (myself included); I mean, Fire Emblem Fates, the game that will sell like crazy and that I've been expecting for months can be played on my ol' regular Zelda 3DS, so, there is no immediate reason for me to buy the new 3DS. Hyrule Warriors Legends stability and improved gameplay on the new 3DS isn't enough for me to acquire it since I will be very busy with the 3 Fire Emblem paths.

I am so gonna buy almost all of the maps once they come out. FE.A had awesome maps that truly put your skills to the test like the future past trilogy and Apotheosis, which was pure hell.

@Ralizah I don't get why FE:Fates is getting a lot of sh*t for this from a lot of people like you, I mean, FE:A had a lot of DLC maps that made an already complex and long game, even much more longer and complex, so, why is that a bad thing? Nintendo and Intelligent Systems went all out with Fire Emblem this time around to make the experience much more complex and longer than that, and everyone is still complaining that they won't get the game or that Nintendo's nuts. I just don't get people or what they want anymore.

@Ichiban Yeah, but the main difference is that Nintendo and Sony are big names and companies, you know that even though Zelda and Uncharted 4 will come out in 4 years, they will surely arrive, not to mention that both games are being polished to the fullest in all areas. Mighty no. 9 on the other hand has no excuse whatsoever, it has psone graphics and sound effects, the single player is ready for launch and the man behind all of these moves has lost all credibility as a game developer and businessman due to all the stupid decisions he frequently makes. Inafune won't stay afloat very long if he continues to make stupid mistake after stupid mistake.

At this freaking rate mighty no. 9 will be released on 2025.

This is literally one of the stupidest things I've seen recently. So, if you want HARD mode you need the ugly Ganondorf amiibo, if you want to chicken out every time you´re gonna die, you can use the Zelda/Sheik ones or if you're too lazy to kill enemies for arrows, you just tap Link/Toon Link. I mean, I wasn´t expecting mindblowing content for the amiibos, but this is so underwhelming, like, why the f*ck is Hard/Hero mode locked behing the ganondorf figurine? I am really starting to hate all these useless and overpriced pieces of cheap plastic.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Talking Point: The Allure of the Virtual Conso...:

@Priceless_Spork I ran into that issue with my wii a long time ago, you'll be amazed at how many classic games a little 32 gb sd card can hold, I literally possess 60% of the virtual console and like 12 wiiware games on there and I still have left ton of free space.

I'm with you on the frustration with the vc, mostly because the wii started something that sadly we won't see on the wii u: arcade games. Hell, I thought that since the PS3 and X360 got wonderful things like the konami arcade classics like X-men, The Simpsons and TMNT, we would be getting them for the wii u, but nope, NO ARCADE GAMES. I just hope that we will see them on the NX.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Video: Check Out Super Smash Bros. Melee Runni...:

@PlywoodStick You are confusing speed with intensity, yes, smash melee is faster than smash 4, but that doesn't mean that it is the more intense game, to me they are equally intense but in different aspects altogether. A lot of melee players don't acknowledge smash 4's intensity just because it's a little slower and doesn't have wavedashing. That´s it.

The issue is that melee players are so used to the same old-same old gameplay that they refuse to see that smash 4 has the same potential, but since it removes all the cheap techniques like the aborrhent edge-hogging, they don't even bother adjusting to the new system.

@XCWarrior OG 3DS plays all games that I've interest in, yeah, it is slower and has some unstable things but it does its job, I'm not gonna spend some of my savings for some stability and faster loading times when I can play everything on an OG model (except for Xenoblade and Isaac, even then I have a laptop and a Wii, so I can play those two on those systems).

Stability and faster loading times isn't enough for Nintendo to have my money, they need to do better to convince me to upgrade.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Pokémon the Series: XYZ Airing On Cartoon Net...:

@Tulio517 That is why I stopped watching it years and years ago. I got extremely bored by the filler episodes during the Johto era, I mean, Jesus Christ, there were like 35-40 episodes between gyms that it just wasn't funny anymore, then I expected a huge finale to compensate for all the crappy episodes I had to endure, but nope, ash loses once more, and that means it's back to square 1 the next season.

At least this series teaches something valuable to kids: It doesn't matter how hard you try or how long you keep trying, some people just aren't gifted to begin with.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Video: Hyrule Warriors Legends Demonstration S...:

@wazlon This game wasn't made for people like you that already have a wii u and can experience that version, it was made for people like me who refuse to invest in a wii u when the nx is looming closer and closer but possess a 3DS and can finally check out what is all the fuzz about this game to finally experience it firsthand, that's why I plan to check it out.

This is a very smart move by Nintendo, make a portable version of a good selling game available for everybody to play it on the console that is currently doing pretty good. I believe this also was the main reason they decided to make a Smash 4 version for 3DS right from the start.

@Vee_Flames I am pretty calm man, I'm just stating the plain truth. It was all fun and games when amiibo started out with smash, it was like "Yeah, I can train an amiibo in-game and fight it out with my friends amiibo to see whose is better", but at this point is "You want to play hard mode, unlock the extra stages, see the alternate costumes or even begin the game? (AC: Amiibo festival, I want to forget that piece of commercial garbage so much) You have to buy our wonderful cash-in plastic monstrosities for that!!!!".

Yeah, it is so much fun.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Talking Point: Considering amiibo Features and...:

@SahashraLA Not necessarily, I call this garbage because it FEELS like garbage, I mean, it is pretty clear that this is used as a stopgap before Zelda U hits shelves, that I have no problem with, the problem is when this stopgap is mediocre to say the least regarding past remakes/remasters.

The Last Of Us PS4 remaster is VERY RECENT and it contains ALL OF THE DLC which you previously had to pay for in the PS3 days, it's not simply an HD facelift, or I can give you a Nintendo example in MM 3D, which reintroduced a very old N64 game with updated graphics, new gameplay mechanics, revamped situations, etc. See where I'm going?

The issue I have with this stopgap is that it feels rushed and a mere cash-in rather than a solid remaster in the Zelda franchise, which Twilight Princess proudly deserves, as it is an amazing game overall, but just look what Nintendo is doing: this is an "HD" (it doesn't look like it) remaster which has 2 things unlocked by an ugly-looking toy, and we are expecting you to pay full price for it. Yeah, good luck with that.

@shani See? Even if we have different opinions, we both respect each other's tastes and that's cool man. I got a N64 some years ago and finally got to play a lot of its library, my favorites being Paper Mario and Kirby 64, simply amazing games. I still prefer the psone, but I admit that the N64 is an excellent console.

FRANKLIN_BADGE

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Book Review: The 200 Best Video Games Of All Time:

@shani I meant that in those times, Super Mario 64 was deemed as the best game of that generation, and while I like that game, it's one of those who have aged terribly in my opinion, I mean, it's good and it certainly revolutionized the open world 3D genre, but it isn't that amazing by today's standards.

Many years ago, I got to chose between the N64 and the psone, and in that particular moment, I went the sony route and got the crash trilogy as I went by. I didn't mean to say that crash revolutionized the same way, but as a boy who only got to choose 1 console and looking back, I'm certainly glad I picked the psone by a long mile, as the crash games have aged amazingly well after all these years.

I know that Crash is 2.5D and Mario is pure 3D, I wasn't comparing genres, but their similitudes are higher than most people realize, especially since both games are collectathons and have tons of secrets.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Book Review: The 200 Best Video Games Of All Time:

@Blue_Blur Yeah, I always feel nostalgic about crash, due to the fact that I went the sony route as soon as the psone hit the stores, so many memories. I would put Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped on the list, as it was (and still is) an amazing game when I got it so many years ago. That game had everything: Varied levels, bazookas, dinosaur riding, spaceship and airplane fights, time trial collectibles that vastly expanded the replay value, etc.

To me that game is even superior to overrated games like Super Mario 64, hands down.

@bluedogrulez You must be joking. He lost all credibility along with COMCEPT by making stupid decision after stupid decision, and it is quite clear that he is talentless to manage a company, he is an awesome game designer, yes, but lacks what it takes to make a company sucessful.

@RantingThespian I get the exact opposite feeling. While I admit that Super Mario RPG is a pretty awesome game, there is something amiss that quite doesn´t allure me as the PM and ML series do.

I respect the game for cementing the basis for the 2 aforementioned series, but I recently played it once more, and somehow it feels a bit... dated. Then I played the first Paper Mario on the N64 and it still feels outstanding even by today's standards, somehow I prefer the approach intelligent systems gave to the new series, it plays much less clunky, not to mention that I liked the approach of dividing the game into 8 chapters instead of square's approach of rushing through the seven stars, one after the other. That kinda ruined the experience for me.

@Ichiban My thoughts exactly. Most people here are very passionate about Nintendo not letting their fans down, but money is money, and they know that the Wii U is already dead, I mean, it is not going to move more units in the foreseeable future, not unless the new Zelda comes out, but as you pointed out, it will come at the very end of the Wii U's lifespan and serve as the first step towards the NX.

@NaturalGus I agree on some level with you. I don't think the NX launch will be as majestic as you think it will be, but I believe that nintendo has been secretly working on NX games for months now, hence the lackluster recent titles COUGH ac: amiibo festival, mario tennis ultra smash COUGH to put all their 100% on this new console that will have at least 3 or 4 impressive 1st party titles all ready on launch day.

FRANKLIN_BADGE commented on Japanese Analyst Claims NX Could Launch As Ear...:

Ummm... this is a very tough one. In general, it makes sense, as the Wii U is rapidly proving for Nintendo to be not reliable for steady income, and while the 3DS is currently doing pretty well with a promising 2016 lineup on the near future, it won't be reliable for them in 2017 at all, so I expect Nintendo to let go of the 3DS this upcoming E3, where they are gonna announce the last exclusive 1st party games as a final bang before moving on.

Star Fox Zero will be an amazing game no doubt, but it won't be a console seller, that job was already done by super mario maker, splatoon, super sm4sh U and MK8, there simply is nothing left to sell the Wii U, except the upcoming Zelda title, but I believe that will be released for both the Wii U and the NX, hence why Twilight Princess HD is being used simply to appease fans while they do the transition, so an early NX move makes a lot of sense.

That aside, Sin and Punishment 2: Successor of the skies is a true masterpiece, and it is on my top 5 wii games, as it is an astounding piece of modern gaming and an example of how games should be done today; tight controls, engaging visuals, awesome gameplay, insane difficulty if you aim for all the medals on every stage. True Perfection.

I would love to see a sequel on the NX, but Treasure has been inactive for a while, their only recent action being a port of Ikaruga for Steam, and that was over a year ago, so I wouldn't hold a candle waiting for this to happen.

@I-U You are part of a very limited minority who would pass on an engaging single experience in favour of a multiplayer experience that doesn't look Metroid-ish at all.

The prime games revolutionized the way gamers want to see the Metroid franchise in 3D, so whether you like those games or not, everyone knows that those games greatly raised the bar from what we want in a metroid adventure, that's why Other M failed miserably and why this game is also condemned to the same fate, Nintendo not knowing what their audience wants is the issue.

Yes, it is being used as a stopgap for users with a Wii U to buy it to appease their need of another Zelda adventure on their consoles while they further delay Zelda U to almost coincide with the release of the NX, so I'd say that they will release it by november 2016.

Also, it is sad about code name steam, developed by the geniuses of intelligent systems, but this is the new nintendo we're talking about, it's the nintendo where if the IP is not named Mario or Zelda, it doesn't deserve any publicity or attention (with an special exception being Splatoon)
