Edwrd commented on ZombiU Producer "Disappointed" By Early Reviews:

Game review is not rocket science, but definitely require a certain discipline and craft. Saw the gamespot review video, the young dude didn't even sound all that intelligent, sorry, he did sound a little slow, ok that doesn't mean he is actually slow sure but come on, the game didn't even get a passing grade from him. Gamespot is going on a long slow slide down the toilet, I used to love reading their epic multi-page super detailed reviews back in the day when the founding Giant Bomb crew were there (quite a long time ago, more than a decade? whew ...), actually that was the trend back then wasn't it, IGN was like that too, the review itself was enjoyable.

I'm not even defending ZombieU or WiiU, I have neither, but fair is fair, a sloppy review is a sloppy review, reminds me of the asinine gamecritics review of Muramasa: the demon blade, the reviewer played the game for 3 hours, then condemned it. Don't you think game developers who spend so much money and time making a game deserve a little more respect for their work? Ah I'm preaching to the choir here hah, need to calm down...

Remember going in that room and grinding money over and over, sometimes even when I didn't need to buy anything. Location looks great, nice costume, casting and effects too. Were there pots still in there after ghost bottling stuff started?

Are there extremely sexual and perverted games on the eshop in Europe? That sounds quite fun actually, but if there are no such games, then the rule is absolutely mind boggling. If I were a game dev, I might make a borderline R rated small game for the eshop, with ultra-violence, many naked bodies and sexy suggestive elements, it'll be some sort of forbidden fruit that everyone will want a taste, it will cost at least 49.99 euro for a 2 hour experience. hmm, but then how would I hype it in America? Tsk, Nintendo needs to at least be consistent!

Edwrd commented on Wii Mini Is Official And Has No Online Connect...:

So many great Wii titles are low priced now too, makes for a ton of value, and it looks very nice.

But developers that made games for Wii Shop won't be so happy though, but as an end user, I'd be better off without that waste of time, seriously what good 3rd party games are on there? If its a Nintendo game, most of the time you'll need to buy a game cube compatible game pad, whole thing is a hassle. As for TV services, its in Standard Definition, you really want that for your HDTV?

I would buy this over the original Wii for sure.

Edwrd commented on THQ Enters Forebearance Agreement With Creditors:

"... so perhaps there is some hope the ailing developer can claw itself out of this hole ..."
Hey Andy, I think THQ is a publisher and not a developer? I think they are more like EA or Ubisoft, rather than a Retro Studios.

Company Of Heroes 2, and Metro: Last Light, both early 2013 titles look pretty interesting, both will be published by THQ but developed by Relic Entertainment and 4A Games respectively for example, hehe sorry, edged both these titles in as I quite keenly await for their release :p

Edwrd commented on Molyneux: "I Struggle To See Anything Amazing ...:

What Molyneux got wrong:
"Getting people to move their eyes from the screen down to their laps is incredibly hard"
I think you're supposed to lift your arms, so you can see both the controller as well as the TV in the background easily, where you focus on the controller then to the screen, or where the controller screen acts as a filter to what's on the TV, like x-ray vision shown on the controller screen (I forgot where I saw this, Batman was it?). Then once the task is done with, you lower the controller and resume focus on the TV. But I guess if you need to tap on the controller screen, where you hold the controller with one hand tapping with the other while holding it up, that does sound clumsy, its up to the developer to make good use of the controller screen isn't it.

Edwrd commented on Watch: First US Wii U Advert Appears:

Justine Bieber look-alike between 0:47 and 0:48, for you ladies out there.

Anyway I don't like this ad, I feel they crammed too much into the ad. Maybe its because I already know what it is, maybe someone who doesn't know what it is will get excited? It feels very preteen, teen though, as the majority of people in it are. Its somewhat big budget I suppose, but feels ordinary at the same time. The Wii had much better ones with the 2 Japanese door to door salesmen showing their wares.

Edwrd commented on Pachter Pours Scorn Over Wii U Sales Projections:

I think early adopters are the people most likely to buy more games, then there is the crowd that waits for hardware price drops (myself included), who probably typically buy less games than early adopters. But I'm not buying the console, as much as I want to, it'll cost double the US price when it reaches here, and then I have to mail order games from overseas, WTF ... why can't Nintendo be like Samsung or Apple or even Sony and Microsoft and do true global roll outs? Sigh ...

Edwrd commented on Talking Point: Are Wii U Games Going To Be Too...:

Yeah its only $10 more than before, now you get HD graphics and sound, the whole feel of the game don't have to be simple sort of SD graphics anymore, I would say $50 is expensive for Wii games today because of the state of video games nowadays, $60 is just what everyone is paying for on the other platforms. If I pay $60 for a PC game to run on my mid range PC, I can't turn on all the graphical bells and whistles, but same price!

I read slashgear sometimes on other topics, a lot of these tech writers really don't know what they are talking about where ever they work, they say how the Wii is basically stupid and can't sell because its for kids and old people, then 6 years later it sells 100 million units, lets face it, that is what Reisinger wanted to say about Wii U too except it would be unprofessional to say it directly. A lot of these tech writers are idiots, its not that they don't have a future or anything, but their opinion sometimes come from stupidity, spend no time debating this nonsense. Simply wait and let these game companies do their marketing magic and BOOM, mad sales. To be honest, I think a lot of games are really stupid and not worth $60 at all, but others love them for some reason, if I write about that, I'll be among those tech writers mentioned. Just bloody wait and see! Whats all this dweeby "it won't see because I say so" nonsense ...

Edwrd commented on Bethesda Yet to Decide on Support for Wii U:

Fallout 3 was one of the best games ever, I played that and New Vegas in 2010/11 so didn't notice the bugs, haven't played Skyrim yet, but thing with these games is they take a lot of time to complete and to discover the map, all side quests and replay with a different build, you'd be hogging the living room TV. And ... you will never get Steam sale prices on Wii U for it! To me games no longer make sense on any platform except Steam if Steam puts them on sale.

Edwrd commented on Talking Point: The Rules for Violence in Video...:

I don't even kill cows and chickens when I see them in game, because its not ok to kill these things in real life for fun, that's what most people are hung up on, people are hyper-sensitive about "programming" other people who presumably are complete idiots that its fine to kill animals for entertainment. And because they are good as food, and its bad to waste food, didn't yo mama teach you? You can't eat humans or nasty alien creatures!!

Edwrd commented on Crysis 3 Isn't Coming to Wii U:

I'd love to see a killer first party FPS from Nintendo, maybe from Retro or something, since Cry engine 3 runs so well ... that's what Crytek is saying isn't it, the cry engine works well on Wii U, build your game using it.

Edwrd commented on Talking Point: The Critical Importance of Blac...:

If its true, having BlackOps 2 on WiiU means they ported the IW game engine (proprietary Infinity Ward) to work on this new platform, this could also mean more Call Of Duty games incoming to the platform.

And since there is a touch screen, maybe some iOS games will get ported? Angry Birds (groan, enough of that!), Infinity Blaaaade?? Even comic book platforms like Dark Horse, Marvel, DC comics could sell their comics, its an app that utilizes in game purchases which Nintendo supports now, comic purchase history are stored on the user account on the publisher's side so it doesn't have to be tied to the WiiU only.

Edwrd commented on Nintendo May Not Call Wii U a Home Console:

I guess you can bring the console anywhere there is an electrical outlet to play on the controller's screen, although its not a portable, can you use that controller solely as a screen while you use the Wiimote to play say Metroid: Other M?

@James Wow, thanks thats good news! ^_^ That buy credit by block situation stopped me from buying a lot of games. Now my only complaint is, they should get rid of the block scheme completely and how many years has it been for this good for consumer change Nintendo!

Edwrd commented on Miyamoto: "Eventually Nintendo Must Survive Wi...:

Nintendo online store needs to get rid of the stupid credit system, I know Xbox does this too, but Steam or the iTunes store doesn't, neither does every other online retailer, imagine if Amazon or Apple did this, imagine the backlash from their customers! Don't make me pay $10 for a $6 game, what am I going to do with the balance?? If Miyamoto (with all due respect) is ok with this system of payment, that part of his decision making powers already need replacing! Or more accurately, whoever made this decision at Nintendo need to get with the times or should be replaced (no mercy! :p )

Edwrd commented on Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third...:

They could sell old games on the mobile platforms, like how they sell them cheap on their own shop channels. I'm not sure you can put an emulator on the Apple app store, so some porting is needed.

The other problem is, handsets is fragmentation, where some phones have low performing hardware, some have accelerometer, some have gyroscope, some won't. I suppose they also need to not make games for their competitors on the console front, like Windows Phone OS, or the Sony Erricson phones which run Android, that basically leaves, iOS, WebOS, and RIM's OS, and MeeGo. That is still a multi-platform situation with hardware differences for each platform.

Edwrd commented on Angry Birds Could Be Flocking to Wii U and 3DS:

I do like Angry Birds, I'm guessing it'll be 500 points if it ever goes to the Wii/DS Shop Channel. the game is $4.99 on the Mac App Store and .99 on the App Store, not that I crave more, no I've had quite enough myself actually hehe.

The guy didn't really say anything negative about the Wii U. If Sony copies the Wii U concept,

it is certainly not a $500+ upfront cost to people who already own a PS3. It may be a way for Sony to sell more Vita units if they use it to market bonus features to future first party games that area only accessible with a Vita, but it obviously can't be vital content, or people without a Vita will get p*ssed!

One thing I got from reading this article, innovation doesn't mean throwing the past away. Maybe the title should add another word "revolution, evolution or innovation", i guess that waters down the beverage so to speak.

Porting Operation Racoon City over would be cool too, even if its 1 or 2 later.

But yay for more RE on Wii U, want the RE 5 version of Jill Valentine, Sheva too, and Leon but the fun Leon of RE4 and not serious Leon of RE: Degeneration, that might as well be Chris of RE5.

Edwrd commented on Wii U Striking Balance Between Performance and...:

Sony just released in Japan a lighter PS3 with slightly lower power consumption, with their pricing losses in most of the PS3's lifetime will they want to make the PS4 so soon? I feel they will push it back further if they can, it depends on what Microsoft is doing probably, not so much Nintendo (yet). And Microsoft released the Xbox 360 Slim just last year in June 2010, its only June 2011 now ...

Edwrd commented on Nintendo Not Interested in Producing Free-To-P...:

Micro transactions will probably make Nintendo more money in the long run, but as a consumer, I probably pay more in the long run too, the worst is that the games will be designed around this business model, to lure and tease and drag the game out, it'll be a game about the items you can buy so you can be better, that sucks.

Edwrd commented on Wii U Hopes to Rectify Problems that Wii is Ex...:

Nintendo games all have cartoony looks to them, they are non-bloody, and everything is cute, which gives a kiddie, uber casual vibe, even though some of their games, the difficulty curve is way steeper if you go the completionist route than the blockbuster PS3, 360 or PC games that is very very short.

But if devs want to make the best looking and best sounding game they can, to wow players, beat the competition, I imagine the Wii can't be on their minds.

Even though this iteration Nintendo kept the Wii name which is very recognizable, I think as time passes and more core 3rd party games appear, core gamers will start accepting it, but there are still a lot we don't know, like the online capabilities and the rest of the hardware specs. Online play is important since it is one of the main selling points of, it seems all blockbuster FPS games nowadays. Of course Wii U owners have to buy the Wii U version of these games too and not the 360 or PC version because their online is better.

Edwrd commented on Wii U Touch Screen is Resistive, Not Capacitive:

Disappointed at first, but then realized that it would totally suck if you have to move one hand on and off from holding the large controller to poke the screen regularly during a game. Not having to touch the screen at all during game play is best, unless the game is designed for the touch screen specifically, but then there would be no issue because it would be designed to be used with a stylus! So it doesn't really matter if its resistive or capacitive.

Edwrd commented on Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recaptur...:

Of course, Nintendo should not forget the casual gamers base too! The exercise gamers, the wii sports players.

Ideal situation is to have devs like Crytek and Valve (etc etc) on board, hopefully their online system will be flexible enough for Valve to do their Steam whatever like Portal 2 is doing on PS3.

Hopefully its not wishful thinking that Ninty will release more of their fit and sports games to be used with Wii peripherals, let people prolong their device duty.

And perhaps for the ladies, finally have a permanent vibrate mode on that Wiimote hehe ... just don't use my Wiimote :(

Edwrd commented on Talking Point: Should Nintendo Have Made the 3...:

Nintendo needs a robust online system first, the one they have now is a bit minimalistic in terms of functionality I think, and just let me pay directly, not buy some annoying credits blocks where you may have 200 points left over with no desire to buy any more games.

Cart-less device is great, download times aside, you don't have to worry if the store has a copy of your game before you go out, or if its raining or snowing. Downloadable games can reach anywhere in the world, Nintendo won't have to worry about physical distribution channels. But storage is real issue, but if they allow a system where you can swap out old games to an external drive, it would be convenient.

No physical cart also means less plastic waste and less petrol use transporting them around.

(Of course I am in favor of a software only portable, there are no stores here that sells legit carts, forget it!)

Should reviews really be 100% reviewer slant? Shouldn't there be some sort of structure, like graphics, sound, mechanics, replayability scores, even if they just use that structure as a guide for the reviewer to score fairly and consistently?

As long as there are TVs, there will be consoles. TVs are just displays waiting for add ons like game consoles, movie players and anything else you can plug into a large display, what are all those ports for at the back of TV sets if not for expansion. People just want to watch TV and movies? NEVER!
