Eclipse_Dj commented on Aonuma: "We'll See" About Zelda Voice Acting:

My views on voice acting are mixed really, I am enjoying Skyward Sword and believe it certainly has some of the best cut-scenes of any Zelda game to date, conveying true emotions and feeling - yet I find myself thinking, "would this experience be improved by voice acting?" As I sit reading line after line of text, I question whether it detracts or breaks the cinematic feel this game is striving to achieve.

Personally I'd like to see voice acting brought in to the next Zelda title, but as an optional preference to keep everyone happy. When you start your quest you can choose whether to turn the voice acting off and simply read the subtitles in a 'classic' mode. I'd also welcome every other character talking, with the exception of link. I think that can work very well, like in Half Life for example. I think it would definitely bring the characters and world to life.

Eclipse_Dj commented on Nintendo Delayed Skyward Sword To Get It Just ...:

This is one thing that concerns me about the imminent Wii U and inevitable step-down or retirement of Miyamoto in the coming years. Will Nintendo begin conforming with 'industry standard' as some have asked by releasing games on their dead line dates and then 'patching' bugs/glitches like most current games? Wouldn't you rather play through a game from start to finish as it is intended? I am glad SS was delayed, though I'm sure it would have made better financial sense to get such a huge title out last winter.

My one bug-bear with Zelda: SS is the constant image of the Wiimote on screen, a few different hud options would have been nice. I love the art style, but agree it fails to really impress to the same standard as SMG 1 and 2 or Xenoblade have.

Eclipse_Dj commented on Feature: The Revolution of the Wii:

I agree with others here that the Virtual Console was a great feature offering years of Nintendo's excellent games in one place. I have to say I have quite enjoyed my Wii and though it doesn't always get used I will never get rid of it, I have a good selection of games, retail, Wiiware and VC. My biggest disappointment was the WiiSpeak which has to be the worst supported official peripheral in history. I feel if Nintendo and more developers had got on-board we could of had a better online experience whilst playing against friends/family. Friend Codes were a big annoyance and helped kill any chance of the Wii growing an online community.

In reference to the lack of Wii's processing power, I think the Wii U needs to be, at the very least 2x to 4x as powerful as the current 360/PS3 tech (which is from 2004/05)

A) To be enough of a difference to warrant being purchased alongside the aforementioned consoles, and even to be considered as a potential 'stop-gap' console.

B) To stay relevant enough to keep closer to the imminent releases from SONY and Microsoft. The Wii tech looked dated far too quickly and sat closer to Gamecube/PS2 than it ever could 360/PS3. Very few multi-platform games gave you the same experience as their HD counterparts with the exception of Rockband 2 and 3 and DJ Hero 1 and 2.

I'd like to see a wireless 'Nunchuck Plus' and or a second analog Wii Remote Plus, working in connection with a camera similar to Kinect. I really hope Nintendo don't mess up with the Wii U, if they have learnt their lessons from the Wii/3DS and from their competitors it has the potential to be great.

Eclipse_Dj commented on Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Wii):

The trouble with the IGN review is that it wasn't reviewing the game on it's own merits, constantly comparing it to the HD versions. Yes we all know they will be sharper, glossier, with better frame rates, improved lighting/textures and have more features etc. But what if you don't own another console? What if you prefer IR pointer controls? We all know the Wii will have short-comings due to its lack of horsepower but I must say I was very impressed with Treyarch's effort here. Presentation is top notch, it is graphically better than the sometimes ugly looking Black Ops on Wii, and we haven't been given some water-down Wii only version that so many developers are guilty of; Need for Speed, FIFA, Driver, DIRT etc are all awful versions based loosely on the franchise, farmed-out to third parties, with little time and resources allowed.

Treyarch should be commended for delivering a decent version of MW3 to Wii owners, It sits side-by-side with Rock Band 2 and 3 and DJ Hero 1 and 2 as one of the best multi-platform Wii games. Thanks for giving us online co-op/multiplayer, voice chat, classic control support, patch updates etc. The knock in graphics really didn't take away from the immersive experience in the campaign. This is as good as it gets for Wii owners, the developer has pushed the format to it's maximum and it is a good swan-song for the CoD series to finish on Wii.

@TheAmazingRaccoon

Picture 2 shows 3 stop watches at the top of the stairs, these will more than likely add time to the level encouraging further exploration for those that like to do so, but also giving you the option to do speed runs. Win win all round then!

This is the one reason I have held off trading in my 3DS before the inevitable re-design comes out next year. Do I cash in now and not get to play this for months but have a superior 3DS with twin analog and longer battery? Mmmm... Decisions, decisions.

Oh Ninty, I hate you for over-charging me by £80+ offering me a handful of retro roms to compensate, then revealing the ugly right analog slider add-on, but then you go and create such wonderful games like this and I remember the good old Ninty and why I love your work. Please, please, PLEASE don't screw up the Wii U in the same way, thank you!

Eclipse_Dj commented on These Are The 10 NES Ambassador Games in Japan:

@lz20XX

I understand that there is no fee so technically they are free games, but the reason they are being offered is hugely relevant. Nintendo publicly stated;

"Never in Nintendo's history have we dropped a system's trade price so significantly less than six months after launch... We are aware this may cause you, the loyal fans who supported Nintendo 3DS from the beginning, to lose trust in us, and this is not our intention in any way. All of you who have kindly supported Nintendo 3DS from the beginning are Nintendo's most important customers."

It shows that they acknowledged potential upset from their loyal fan base and that is the reason for these games being given.

@Chozo85 and @Chiptoon

Thank you, nice to see someone with a bit of understanding on this matter. It seems I can not express my disappointment here without being told to "shut up" and "stop whinging".

@Chicken_Brutus

I knew what I was buying and spending at the time yes but I was far from pleased with my purchase due to rushed launch games with limited features and a poor game selection. What I didn't expect at the time of purchasing my new technology was that in 5 months time people would be buying it at a massively reduced price to me. I believe I have every right to feel agrieved and find it extremely difficult to get excited or be thankful to Nintendo for their "generous free games". I wish I was as easily pleased as some of you but as a long time Nintendo fan I feel hugely let down and will certainly be very wary on future products. That is all!

@Sir_Dragoon

I hardly class them as "FREE" when I paid £212 at launch for a 3DS and a game bundle and I can get the same package deal now for £135. The best part of £80 hardly equates to a handful of retro roms in my opinion.

I acknowledge that Nintendo are under no obligation to offer anything but neither were Sony and like someone else stated you think they would make a little bit more effort towards keeping loyal fans happy.

I have owned Nintendo all my life; NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, GBA, GB SP, DS, Wii and DS Lite and I just feel very let down and short changed. Sorry if I don't get ecstatic at the thought of running old NES roms on an emulator via my 3DS screen, the GBA list is better but I think offering 1 full 3DS retail game would have been the way to go (or at least SNES and GBA games)

@Jonny

Can't say I am "Happy" with 10-20 "Free Games" because there is no way they even come close to subsidising the £80 difference I have lost out on for being a loyal Nintendo fan and a day one adopter of their new hardware. True they don’t ‘have’ to offer anything, but even SONY offered two full retail games to their customers when PSN was down for a month. I would have much preferred if Nintendo offered us just one proper 3DS game instead of just emulating old roms on the 3DS, which many people have played and downloaded for ‘free’ elsewhere.

Eclipse_Dj commented on 3DS Will Let You Play in 2D Too, If You Want:

Having this feature is no different to movie theatres giving you the option of a standard 2D movie or a 3D version. Yes, 3D will enhance the visual aspect but not necessarily alter the basic game mechanics in anyway. Other developers might try and make more use of the 3D view to change the way their game is played. But at least this way Nintendo (much like the movie industry) aren't forcing 3D on all developers or consumers, and like others have said; Avatar looked great in both 3D and 2D.

Eclipse_Dj commented on XBLA Perfect Dark Getting GoldenEye Maps and W...:

As much as I love my Wii and it's Virtual Console, as a Wii60 owner and previous N64 owner, I am very happy that Perfect Dark will appear on XBLA. Online play is a bonus and the new smother character and gun models are welcome additions along with HD, but the best news is the 60fps frame rate. PD pushed the 64 so much and lead the way for many of today's console FPS. With no online then - the inclusion of 'bots' for multiplayer was a great idea, and being able to play the entire campaign in co-op was so far advanced that only in recent years have more companies included this option. (they even had counter-op too) If it's true that the complete Goldeneye weapon set is present in this version and not just a handful as in the original PD, then this version of PD could be the ultimate and definitive multiplayer FPS combining the best from both classic games and making the most of the new technology. For only 800 MSP = £6.80 this may just become my most played 360 game!

Eclipse_Dj commented on Wii Sports Resort: now with online features!:

Hopefully it will have leaderboards to add further challenge and depth to the title. It's a shame it doesn't include online multiplayer though, playing golf, bowling, jet ski races, cycle races, cannoing races, archery contests online would have gave it further re-playability. Especially if they let you all chat via WiiSpeak too.
