Wow. IGN Spain just gave it a 95 too. Guess it's GOTY. One of these games I guess that show how incredible the GamePad really is. Unique and lovely and fitting for 30th anniversary. Nintendo does what other never will. They did it again. Awesome.

I love this game. Downloaded it both to 3DS and 2DS (bundle) and love to try his again with the big screen. Spent hours on it. I would give it a 9 or 10.

Probably not shelved. These things take time to work well. The only reason Vitality Sensor didn't come out is because it wasn't perfect tech-wise. Wii Fit was perfect. It worked. It got your weight and the exercises were fun. If the vitality sensor doesn't track 100% correctly it's a problem, and so here. They have to keep studying the science and the tech. When they figure it out they'll release it and it'll be successful.

Also, they are at a very good place now. amiibo selling like crazy, success of Splatoon etc. Mobile games coming up. Stock went from $11 to $25 which is amazing. Good times.

People that think the second screen can be replicated to the Vita (Ubisoft is too lazy to ever do that, so no luck there) obviously are not aware of the huge lag and awfulness of that playstation setup. It is not seamless and lagless like the Wii U. It is what it is. If you cannot play it on Wii U, and you like horror games, it's a game you should try, but Ubisoft has taken a beautiful gem and made a very poor clone of it. It's still playable, but barely enjoyable anymore.

I also played the first on the phone, and I liked it. But I think I had enough. Review should have compared the button pressing to touch controls, it's the main advantage here, and that's the whole point, but it doesn't go into it at all, whether it's good or not. Not sure I'll ever have time with this one. Maybe.

@MetaSmasher Bit Trip Runner is so much better than every mobile runner out there, and I'm talking about the original bit trip Runner. Again, I really enjoyed the game on my phone, but it's not Bit Trip standard level, at all.

This review seems to have nailed it: "Meanwhile, the absence of a dedicated peripheral with the transition from the Wii U leaves a palpable void. An innovative approach to mirror the in-game device on the Wii U gamepad has morphed into a clumsy system of inventory management that is more bothersome, rather than serving to enhance the atmosphere. Inventory items can’t be rearranged, and it’s practically impossible to get eyes on your survivor while you’re rummaging through your backpack. And while the HUD fades away for a more involved experience, the minimap has to be displayed constantly, what with no second screen for it to live on."

Also, pretty useless without the incredible multiplayer.

So, in conclusion we have an incredibly innovative game on the Wii U, that should have received perfect scores, but was too difficult for most reviewers (and still is) turned into a crappy bastardized version of a clone with no second screen ingeniousness.

Really love this game. Played this on my Gameboy, on a multicart, it was the best game out of 82 , and I was in love with the music, the stages, the little plane, submarine, everything...

@Zombo look you obviously have no idea what you're talking about and never played any Nintendo games at all. You're absolutely clueless. I was obviously talking about the original developer/designer, the one who was too lazy to bring Super Meat Boy. Google it. C-L-U-E-L-E-S-S. This crap game not using the 3D, like I said. And you are clueless.

dumedum commented on Nintendo: Wii U GamePad Is The Only Real Innov...:

It is indeed extremely innovative and immersive. The reason that it wasn't used enough is the 3rd party abandonment. Most of the best uses come from games that typically Nintendo doesn't make - things like Arkham City and Mass Effect 3, and ZombiU, that used the gamepad magnificently. But then they neglected it. It was the same way with the Wii Remote. We got things like Resident Evil 4, and MadWorld, and Force Unleashed, but not much else like that later on, and Nintendo doesn't usually make these action/shooter games really.

It's interesting, because in a way they should have done it ages ago. But then again ever since the stock collapsed, it actually doubled in size and grew phenomenally in the last couple of years without the mobile. And now there's all the anticipation at this new revenue stream at the same time they have the amiibo and are talking about so much new hardware (NX, QoL). I think they timed it right. If the games are successful, well the first one, stock should go through the roof by the end of the year.

@Sam_Loser2 exactly no need to rush. Wii U is doing fine these days especially in Japan and with all the amiibo. Big games coming up with Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, Starfox and Zelda. All good from my perspective.
@SKTTR very nicely said. Honestly, I have no idea sometimes where these comments come from. Unbelievable.

dumedum commented on Soapbox: It's A Tragedy That Rare Replay Isn't...:

Tragedy is when people die horrible deaths. Not having some Rare games because they're owned by another party, while still having Rare's best games exclusively playable on the current or last two consoles (SNES DK X 3, Donkey Kong 64, Star Fox Adventures) or almost ALL playable on past consoles, means it's not even an issue.

@BinaryFragger @Zombo That's the most stupid thing I've ever heard. Nintendo uses the 3D in 99% of its games. It had the best 3D usage ever already from the beginning in SM3DLand, and it used 3D amazingly in titles like Luigi's Mansion 2 and Kid Icarus. So yeah, stupid comments. This is their only effort on 3DS they could have made something out of it , instead of crap.

They're obviously increasing the field of view to make the game easier like the other changes. The quote from the blog proves it. Its not about any limitations. It was all about the difficulty. Of course narrow field of view was in purpose to produce that claustrophobic feeling they are mentioning. They are ruining it now to make the game easier for the less than Nintendo core gamers.

This was a great achievement for Nintendo. All analysts predicted losses but Nintendo came through and the stock rise to the level of two months ago after which it had problems. With new hardware looming and the smartphone business these are good times for Nintendo stock indeed.
