Die2Distroy commented on Talking Point: The amiibo Range Grows, Yet Key...:

@Bolt_Strike Just wanted to comment on these 2 points.

"That's true, but even with the three games we know about, I wouldn't call that $10 of content by any means. It's barely even worth $2-$3. There's still time for them to improve, much like the Wii U itself (whoever it was that was comparing Amiibo to the Wii U as a whole was spot on) until this year the system has potential but the value just isn't there yet."

Like you say, Amiibo is only just in it's starting phase with 3 games supporting the functionality, we already have 4 more confirmed next year being Kirby Canvas, Yoshi's Wolly World, Toad Treasure Tracker and Mario Party 10, the Amiibo functionality and usefulness will build up overtime, even if the character doesn't belong in the franchise, they will still provide something minor such as currency(?) in Hyrule Warriors, they should get to the point of being more tempting to buy at late 2015/beginning 2016, but before that point, most are likely to just get their favourite 1-3 Amiibo's.

"MK8 isn't middle ground, you're paying for a pointless costume that does nothing. And in most cases, you can simply play as the real character instead."

I'm going to take that as if your referring to the Mario characters, but to be fair, if they were to be used as Computer players, I think there would have been a bigger backlash there, unlike Smash, you probably may not see the difference in skill as your character grows in AI, and to make it worse, you would then have to decide on either use the Amiibo to save that Data or Smash's Data.

Onto non-Mario characters, let's admit Captain Falcon outfit is the closest to the actual character out of all 10 so far? XD But if it was for the actual character in MK8, I doubt first impressions would be great for me, not because I don't want him in the game (not bothered either way personally) but compared to Pack 1 + Pack 2 DLC pricing of £12 while Amiibo is also £11, you could see that as a rip-off on first impression which is what most people would have bought the Amiibo for if that happened and then complaining that the other games would have Amiibo offer lacking features compared what I mentioned MK8 could have offered.

@Ryno Exactly what I'm thinking, you can put them on display, get costumes, items and have a custom fighter with them, yeah sure they might not be worth it at first, but their usage would increase every time the more games that support Amiibo, we have Smash, MK8 and Hyrule Warriors this year as well as Mario Party 10, Toad's Treasure Tracker, Yoshi's Wolly World and Kirby and the Rainbow Course (correct me on the last one), but there would be more optional things that would be interesting to go for in other future games such as new Mario's, Zelda '15, Xenoblade X, Starfox '15 and a hinted Pikmin 4, none of these are definite, but they are great candidates to use Amiibo, even the Captain Falcon Mii Costume really does resemble the character.

To me, I think Amiibo's would be more worth it than Skylanders/Disney figures, it's mainly because that these figurines can unlock a piece of a number of games for you for over £10 per figure, besides, Nintendo did say that the features in their games were only going to make Amiibo optional unlike the other 2 which is why the content these figure give is limited to either new weapons, costumes or a Figure Player, more games would obviously get Amiibo functionality and if about 10 - 15 games get functionality with a particular figure, then I'd say it would be worth it, I don't know if Skylanders does this, but I'm lead to believe that Disney Infinity figures lock away content, thats a cash grab. This is why Nintendo shouldn't make a game that relies on Amiibo alone, even if the game is free.

Die2Distroy commented on Shigeru Miyamoto Outlines Core Nintendo Philos...:

Main Mario games have never been there for the story, they have always been there for the gameplay, if anything, it's just Bowser steals the Princess and you need to go and save her, I'd say more creative Level Design would be great for the series, 2D Mario while not bad, just hasn't added much new, but at least that's once per Handheld/Console. 3D Mario is normally near enough perfect when it comes to current Mario, music is great and varied Level Design, as well as a lot of character in the games, noticeable in the Galaxy Games and 3D World.

Nintendo has a number of franchises to work with alongside Mario, including Zelda, Pikmin, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Animal Crossing among others (I only mentioned these because these are likely to have another game release in the current generation, didn't mention Pokemon or Xenoblade because they are 2nd party franchises.

I'm not keen on people that would complain about no New IP's while W101 came out last year and we have S.T.E.A.M, Toad's Treasure Tracker and Splatoon, then they would complain saying that they don't count because they lack realism, FPS or blood (they wouldn't necessarily say those things, nor do I think they are bad, they just seem to be the most hyped types of games these days now which is kind of sad), look at Destiny, Watch Dogs and Titanfall, those were hyped to space and back and nobody talks about the latter 2 as much anymore.

Die2Distroy commented on Super Smash Bros. Hitting 3DS This Summer, Wii...:

@JaxonH Thank you, people really need to calm down and look at the situation instead of jumping to conclusions. 3DS is defiantly going to be a try out with the Wii U being where the best experience is, especially with the likely chance of being more features.
@Superiorspider Isn't Bayonetta 2 coming out in the summer, E3 is another 2 months away anyway.

Die2Distroy commented on Super Smash Bros. Hitting 3DS This Summer, Wii...:

Maybe Nintendo just want to release something for the 3DS in the Summer so it's library at that point isn't that empty. The Wii U is likely to be released in Winter because of more development work that is needs to be put into it, I don't think there is anything for the Wii U either during that period and by then, people would like to try the Wii U one out, it would likely have more side features.

@Yorumi That my friend is the casual market. COD, Fifa and the like are all casual games these days... sadly... Atleast most Nintendo Games have replayablility. Like Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Starfox. Mainly for nostalgia, high scores or to transfer up to the latest installments.

@Prof_Elvin_Gadd I agree with your post. Nintendo just has a terrible time appealing to the west, especially to PS4 and Xbone Gamers who either want Nintendo to fail or for them to go 3rd party because all they care about for the most part is graphics rather than gameplay. I also love how Xbone Sales are similar to Wii U sales over their first few weeks since release and everyone is defending that like heck. People that think that Titanfall and Destiny are system sellers are wrong, Xbox One Titanfall may have the highest amount of pre-orders, but in the longrun, it doesn't mean anything, most of them are likely the hardcore Xbox One Fans. For the most part, people would likely go for previous generations of said games because they already own the system. They don't seem to be taking the casual gamer into account who is likely to buy the Xbox 360 version. Wii U has the advantage because of exclusives, Mario Kart 8 appeals to both the hardcore and casual crowd, just advertise the heck out of it and you should see Wii U flying off the shelves. People supporting the Xbox One now despite Microsoft being confident in DRM going as far as to say get a 360 to those that don't want it. Gamers only seem to only care about graphics for the most part which saddens me, they could simply put DRM back on. I wouldn't trust Titanfall either, especially what happened with Battlefield. 3rd Parties are benefitial, but it just seems that whatever Nintendo do, they are doomed anyway, even if Sony and Microsoft screw up, they will look to back them up somehow (Don't own a PS4 but respect Sony), to me it just seems that aslong as the gamers get their shooters and great graphics, they don't care how much they would get screwed over, I just feel that this is being ignorant. And to people that say that Mario is the same every year like COD, it's not. Different Genres, so much character shown in the games. A lot of things about the franchise is great, 3D Mario, Mario and Luigi, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart, Paper Mario. All great! Just improve 2D Mario though. I'm not saying that Nintendo is a perfect company, they have made a fair share of mistakes, I'm saying people talk more trash about Nintendo than they need to.

Nintendo needs to get a good chunk of Franchises out there to sell the system regardless. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Kirby, Wii Series, Metroid/StarFox and Pikmin with the occasional Donkey Kong, Wario and others. All of those seem like a good set of first party games to stick to. 3D Platformer, Adventure, RPG, Strategy, 2D Platformer and FPS/Shooter. If Platinum Games comes in as 1st party, then Bayonetta as a Hack and Slash and Wonderful 101 as another strategy (please let there be a W102.) Now all we need is a survival horror.

Die2Distroy commented on Platinum Games Producer Hates "Pedantic Port-B...:

@Blue_Yoshi I don't think they want to back out on Nintendo either, from what I've heard, Platinum Games wants to port Bayonetta 1 over, aswell as wanting to work exclusivly for Nintendo. Who can blame them? Nintendo paid the funds to make Bayonetta 2 possible, haven't played the first one but will consider it if Wii U gets a port. And to think people complain about Nintendo only have kiddy games and no games worth buying. XD

Die2Distroy commented on PS4 and Xbox One Surpass Wii U Lifetime Sales ...:

I'm more surprised that the Xbox One is doing well, nevermind the Wii U suffering. PS4 and Xbone are too similar, so I wouldn't see why people would want both, Wii U is too unique to not do well, especially with the Gamepad (best thing about the Console to me btw). I think it will be games like MK8 and Smash that will be the console sellers, only because they are multiplayer games. Mario Kart Wii did fantastic so I don't see why 8 won't (except for Marketing). Make a Mario Kart 8 Bundle and we will see how it goes, as for Xbone, how can people buy it with what Xbone was originally going to be like? Even at E3, Microsoft tried to screw us over by trying to add DRM to the console and always online, even screwing over those that don't have internet by saying "Don't have online? Get a 360". People seem to be too forgiving, especially when it comes to "graphics". Even Xbox One has Microtransactions like in Forza 5. I wouldn't trust Microsoft, even if some random game I liked went on it. Don't come to me when DRM comes your way under your noses and always-online comes back and the possibility of having to pay money to obtain items to complete a game. If Wii U isn't top console (which I hope it does and the only company I trust), then I would worry about the 9th Generation, I would quit video games if any of that was to happen.

Rant over - :P

Die2Distroy commented on Super Mario 3D World Underwhelms on Japanese C...:

Didn't NSMBU get around 1.5x (160k) the sales of 3D World (nearly 100k) when that lauched, seems to me that 2D Mario Games are more popular there than 3D Mario ones, both of which had a 3 day gap between release and results. Even NSMB Wii sold over 900k, double of both Galaxy Games combined from their releases for 3 days again (over 260k for Galaxy 1 and over 300k for Galaxy 2), even though they clearly sold more than their Wii U equivalents, depite being 3 years down the road by the time NSMB Wii came out.

I've looked on VGCharts for these results, don't know how reliable it is as it's my first time checking it out.

As much as I would love a Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Remake, Remaster or Sequel. I do feel that you can't only rely on Mario Galaxy series to take over 3D Mario as a whole. I know the Galaxy games have a legacy behind them but they need to take a step back eventually. Look at 3D World, it even got 9.6 from "IGN" (you could guess my reaction to this, lol) and I'm getting that day one.

I've heard that the Wii U sold over 21k units in America thanks to the Wind Waker Bundle, personally I think this Zelda Game will do better in the west with those sales when the Retail Version releases. I don't think that OoT: 3D did well in Japan either. Got sales info from vgchartz

I think Doublade is based on Swords that you can carry around on your back, if you've heard of/played God of War, look a Kratos and you'll know what I mean, there could still be a final evolution for it, a Ghost Knight/Warrior that carries the 2 Swords on his back.

I got this idea from someone else, but I'll share them anyway, the Starters this Gen could be based of Medieval Fantasy, especially since Kalos is based in France. Chespin's line could be based on Knights/Warriors, Fennekin's line could be based on a Witch/Mage and Froakie's line being based on a Rogue/Thief.

“5 Exclusive Maps playable with Murphy”.

To me, that part was talking about either the Vita getting those 5 Maps as exclusive Content for the Vita while placing the Wii U on the same boat as the PS3 and X360, or, they are saying that the Wii U would also have this content since both the Wii U and the Vita Games are taking advantage of using Murphy. Just an opinion on this. Yes, I was annoyed by this aswell, but I think people would want this on their TV more than anything.

Die2Distroy commented on Rayman Legends Challenge Mode Coming Exclusive...:

Is it just me or does it seem like this site's member's are all feeling more positive about Rayman Legends now than on anywhere else, even on the Facebook page they are still bashing Ubisoft about the Online mode, they also don't seem to believe that they are adding more content to Rayman Legends.

All the negatives aside though, I feel that this is a much better offering than the demo, I was never going to boycott the game to begin with anyway, I wasn't even sure if they were going to add more content, atleast Ubisoft still respect their fans, just most people fail to see that.

Die2Distroy commented on Reaction: The Rayman Legends Delay Is a Low Bl...:

Just to comment, for those of you not planning to buy the Wii U version of this game just because of this delay (yes I agree it's a really bad move on Ubi's part), I know it's a really bad move on the Producers part, but is that really an excuse to boycott this amazing Game, how do you guys think this will help? It will possibly end up making a situation where Ubisoft might not bother with us Wii U owners at all.

I'm still getting this game, why would I miss an opportunity to play this amazing game on the Wii U? And speaking of the Wii U, for those of you refusing to buy that because of this how do you think that will affect the sales, yeah sure Smash Bros. is on it's way but still, just why? Hopefully you think about what I've posted and hopefully it will change your mind. Basically, how is boycotting the Game going to help anything?
