DiSTANToblivion commented on Editorial: It's Far Too Soon to Go Download-On...:

I hope things don't become digital only. I love collecting everything, from games to movies and albums. Especially albums as I have about 1500 of them at home (not downloaded, not pirated) and I'm proud of my collection. Digital just isn't the same.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Competitive Scene ...:

@Gridatttack @Haz Yeah it was always like that in Melee. The whole idea of tier lists turns me completely off the competitive side of Smash. I've had a few conversations with people and a lot of time they tend to come across as really elitist and denounce the characters some people play as well as the way they play.

I've watched a ZeRo video once where he went against a Ganondorf player, completely criticising the character choice. He got KO'd and then just palmed it off as pure luck. He played as Ganondorf after this, destroying a lot of people all the while continually saying the character has no merit. What the? hahaha I just find that sort of thing hilarious.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Video: Did You Know Gaming? Explores The Legen...:

@nessisonett Same here. I think it's the most overrated Zelda game out of all of them.

Everyone says it's amazing but honestly the easy difficult turns me off it. You take hardly any damage from anything in the game, making each boss a joke and taking any sense of excitement and urgency away from the fight. It doesn't matter how amazing the music of visuals look for the fight when you can practically do it with your eyes closed. On top of that there is no sense of reward in the items and when you have access to them. Done the bug quest? Get a large wallet right at the end of the game. That's okay because the magic armor runs on rupees, oh wait you take hardly any damage anyway in this game so it's useless.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Talking Point: Star Fox Zero's Delay Could Be ...:

Plus the Wii U has quite a number of great titles available but of course no one notices that. They choose to only notice the absence of AAA titles that in the end arrive with a lot of fanfare, bitter disappointment and only enough staying power until the next eventual annual release.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Talking Point: Star Fox Zero's Delay Could Be ...:

I find it funny how Wii U and Xbone sales aren't really that far apart in the grand scheme of things yet people choose to consistently put down Nintendo. The fact that some journalists even get delight from seeing a company doing it tough when they are meant to present an unbiased opinion is really sad.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Some Western Splatoon Players Would Prefer Not...:

It's sort of 50/50 for me with lag. Being in Australia, with our miserable internet speeds it's always touch and go. I do find it annoying when I try to hit someone with a pretty powered up Nozzlenose and it takes around 4-5 shots to take someone out yet they take me out with one Aerospray shot.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Video: Ink Yourself Over Splatoon's Two New We...:

@Ayronom I always get hit once or twice by an Aerospray and I'm done, even when I'm not close to them. Plus on Turf War they can spray wider than a roller walking forward and just comeback in an instant. Going against three gold Aerosprays is always pretty lopsided in Turf War, I can't imagine how annoying four would be.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Weirdness: Should Rap Star Iggy Azalea Ever Go...:

There's a lot of great music now days but people are too lazy to find it, so they just settle for the radio. I personally love listening to music, not the music industry. Great music is out there if you look for it and don't settle for what you're handed in packages designed to sell you the latest trend.

EDIT: Oh and there's also a big difference between "celebrity" and musician. Most radio hits are created by numerous producers in order to market a celebrity.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Review: Mario Party 10 (Wii U):

The last truly great Mario party game for me was MP5. I loved the capsule throwing mechanic, the boards and the minigames. I also liked MP8 for it's unique boards that all had a different gameplay theme. Since this has gameplay similar to MP9 with the mini stars and everyone travelling together I think I'll give this a miss. I really wish they would return to the traditional formula.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Super Smash Bros. Pros Explain Competitive The...:

While this play style is highly impressive, it bores me seeing the same characters always being used. I'd love to see good competitive Ganondorf or even Charizard plays. It's all well and good sticking to the quickest characters and all but sometimes the competitive scene feels incredibly elitist. I've read numerous conversations about certain characters being dismissed outright without even getting a chance, it's pretty annoying to me when people get criticism from a pro player just because they like to play as a heavy hitter.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know S...:

I'm still happy with my original launch 3DS. If Nintendo starts only making 'new 3DS' exclusive titles, ignoring the original 3DS then I'll be pretty annoyed. This is already confusing a lot of people that don't really follow gaming closely so I'm thinking this is going to be another PR nightmare. What's with Nintendo and their nonsensical naming of hardware? Geez...

DiSTANToblivion commented on Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features ...:

This game seriously needed new courses and it looks like this DLC will solve that problem. Wario's Goldmine was an awesome track. Love the new karts and characters as well but I'll admit it feels kind of odd having non Mario related content here, even if it is extra. It's not Smash Bros., it's 'Mario' Kart.

I'm kind of thinking this is to ease everyone into the idea of Amiibo with the possibility of including multiple characters and content from various franchises. I feel like Nintendo are creating and fully embracing an idea of a complete Nintendo universe where everything co-exists together. Look at other crossovers lately that we wouldn't ever think we'd see; things like Hyrule Warriors and Pokken Fighters. If it's the case of everything being put together as one cohesive whole then I don't have a problem with it, in fact I find it really cool.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Play: It's The Second Nintendo Life Community ...:

I just rage quit. No joke. I think i was in the the top 3 in about 4 races out of about 16, I came 1st once. As soon as you drop to about 5th position you get hammered by everyone and everything. I've come to the conclusion that positions 1-4 are relatively safe, positions 5-10 are warzones and positions 11 and 12 have no hope of breaking the top 4 without a lot of luck. I hit numerous players with my star powerup and they dudn't lose any momentum, still managing to keep up their speed regardless of being hit. Argh... rant over.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Poll: Which Is The Best Legend Of Zelda Game?:

If this was in terms of over-rated Zelda games I'd say Twilight Princess. Pacing is awful (in regards to useless items being a reward for long tedious tasks, such as bug collecting or items being rewarded to you at a later stage when you don't even need it), the items are mostly one time uses for a particular dungeon with a few odd moments where they are useful for exploration, the difficulty is far too easy and the dungeon design was incredibly boring.

I loved the story in Skyward Sword but hated the linear design, but at least the dungeons were great in that game.

For me I'd say that it's very close between Majora's Mask and A Link Between Worlds. Majora's Mask for the mature themes and the overall atmosphere in the game, plus tackling side quests while keeping watch over times of the day etc. Dungeon design in that game though... not too good (except Stone Tower). A Link Between Worlds for it's open explorative world.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Hyrule Warriors Downloadable Costume Sets Feat...:

I was interested in this game until all the over-representation of Twilight Princess happened, now I really couldn't care less. Twilight Princess was one of my least favourite Zelda games and it's so disappointing that it's all they seem to be focusing on.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Nintendo Lifts The Lid On Its Plans For E3 2014:

@MaverickHunterX Said it perfectly. This is the best way to get right to the point, cutting through all the boring financial garbage at a press conference. Why should just be caring about the games. The people on this site have really turned me off coming here of late, as with other gaming related sites. Gamers have been becoming incredibly elitist lately. Everyone seems to take gaming so seriously, as if they have shares in a company. Games are fun and should be the most important part of gaming. I thought that should have been obvious.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Nintendo Direct: Trailers Round-Up:

People - "We want games!"
Nintendo - shows games
People - "We want different games, not those ones!"
Nintendo - shows different games, ones people want
People - "We don't want those games now!"
Nintendo - doesn't show anything
People - "WE WANT GAMES!"

DiSTANToblivion commented on Talking Point: The Watch_Dogs Wii U Delay Demo...:

It's simple, I will not purchase any other third party titles on Wii U because of the non-existent support. Here in Australia we still don't have the Injustice DLC and I have yet to go back to the game. The only decent third party release I own is Rayman Legends.

I bought my Wii U for first party titles and Indie eShop releases, so I personally don't have an issue with third party companies not seeing Nintendo as being profitable for them.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Sonic Lost World Sales Reached 640,000 in 2013:

I felt the demo for the Wii U version was pretty weak. I didn't get the impression I'd have any fun playing through the whole game so I think the sales are about right. The Wonderful 101 on the other hand, VERY underrated game that many negative reviews failed to even properly understand. It's a pity W101 has sold pretty poorly.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Nintendo Scoops Two Awards at D.I.C.E:

The Last Of Us truly deserves the praise it recieves in my opinion. It's so much more than a game, it's an experience. As much as I am a Nintendo fan, even I can see that the two previous "Game Of The Year" awards rightfully went to the correct choices (The Last Of Us and Journey). Just thought I'd add my two cents to all the bitterness here.

EDIT: Besides, it's not like awards shows mean anything. Everyone has the capacity to agree or disagree with whatever they want, no imaginary 'award' for bragging rights will change that. That's why opinions are just so much fun... hahaha.

DiSTANToblivion commented on Nintendo States There Are "No Plans" to Bring ...:

After looking up Mario related games on Android Mobile (not to buy, I really dislike mobile 'gaming') I've come to the assumption that people playing mobile games really are clueless.

Review after review of Nintendo games 'Tips and Tricks', 'Walkthroughs' etc. resulted in the same 1 star complaints...

"Not a game!" / "Where is game?" / "Terrible app, it doesn't even have the game!"

DiSTANToblivion commented on Feature: A Year in Development - Image & Form:

It's one of the only games in recent memory that made me want to play it straight after I had finished. I did too, three times in a row. I want that elusive all gold star ranking but cannot seem to get past a silver for time. This game is amazing for speedrunning as well.

Now I wait patiently for the sequel. I REALLY want that sequel.
