I'd like to see them give a Sonic a New Super Mario Bros treatment. Make a classic, retro style 2D Sonic game with a real sense of speed and silky smooth frame rate... Could make for a great game on modern hardware, and give Sonic some of his dignity back.

I'd love to see them A) synch up the WiiU / 3DS game libraries ( there's no reason any NES, SNES, GB/C/A or even N64 titles shouldn't be available on either), then B) make them crossbuy. $5 for an NES game starts looking a lot more appealing if I don't have to decide which system I want to get it for. If there's a game like Duck Hunt where it makes sense on one system and not the other, note it on the eshop. ( This title is WiiU only..)

Leaving this weekend for a business trip until Christmas, so Dream Team seems like a good deal for the road.... and I've been waiting for W101 to go on sale, so I'll pick that up to have on tap for my Christmas vacation. Done and done.

daveh30 commented on New Study Finds No Connection Between Video Ga...:

While I don't necessarily believe there is a link between violence in the entertainment industry and real world violence, I've always been skeptical of these types of studies. We don't know anything about Mr. Ferguson... for all we know, he's a CoD addict who just wanted his mom to get off his back about all the violent video games he plays. The author of any study can make it say absolutely whatever he wants. The saying "the numbers don't lie" is complete bs. The numbers say whatever you want them to. I have a hard time imagining that anyone who would care enough to undertake such a study is anyone other than a gamer looking to defend his hobby, or an anti-gamer looking to see them all banned. In either case, they WILL reach the conclusion they want to reach.

One mistake... in the N3DS XL comparison to the 3DS XL, the screen sizes listed for 3DS XL are those of the original 3DS... I was quite shocked for a second to see that the N3DS was gonna have bigger screens than the current 3DS XL! lol

Currently have a Wii U, PS4, and PS3 hooked up to my tv. PS3 gets a lot more use than the 4, but Wii U is still #1 for me. Honestly, if Nintendo would adopt a trophy/ achievement system, I could do away with Sony systems all together.... The games I really want to play are all Nintendo titles.

daveh30 commented on Review: SteamWorld Dig (Wii U eShop):

Played it on 3DS, it was good enough that I played it again for the trophies on Vita. Don't see me playing it again on Wii U.... But I highly recommend it if you haven't played it yet.

daveh30 commented on Poll: Which Is The Best Super Mario Platformer?:

toss up between Galaxy and 64 for me. I think I probably enjoyed 64 more back in the day when it was new and fresh and exciting... comparing the 2 now,I'd have to give Galaxy the edge. 64 is classic, but in many regards hasn't aged real well... Galaxy gets my vote.

If i worked for Nintendo in any capacity that give me any say in VC pricing stratagy, the first thing I'd want to do is look at the sales figures for that first batch of Wii U VC games that were available for $0.30 each. Some of those games, like say Balloon Fight, HAD to have made more money at 30cents than they have since at full price. I understand not wanting to devalue a product, but theres definitely a point where volume of sales is going to trump higher profit margins per unit. I'm not saying NES titles need to go that low, but they should definitely be lower. Move them down into impulse buy territory, sell more games, make more money... it's Win-Win.

daveh30 commented on Nintendo Download: 7th August (North America):

I have Super Mario Kart on Wii VC, so I'll get the upgrade... other than that, another slow week. need some new 3DS games!

(and I still wish Nintendo would give us an achievement/ Trophy system for 3DS/ Wii U. I feel so dirty spending all my time on my Vita and PS3/4, but i have a horribly unhealthy trophy addiction. )

daveh30 commented on Talking Point: The Wii U eShop is Raising Toug...:

@DefHalan In one post you've used the argument that it is, in fact a finished game, and therefore worthy on inclusion on the eShop, and then turned around and argued that the fact that its an unfinished work in progress buys it some leeway. You can't have it both ways.

daveh30 commented on Talking Point: The Wii U eShop is Raising Toug...:

I would have zero problem with buying into a game early and playing early test versions while receiving regular updates. In fact, I've done it before. Some started out rough and got better, some were pretty bad and never got much better than 'playable'. that totally cool, because I knew what I was getting into. Thats to the problem with The Letter. There is no indication in the eShop that this is an early version and that the intent is to finish it with updates. It is presented as a full game. It should be a full game. I honestly blame Nintendo more than the Dev on this one... It should not have gotten through their cert process as a complete game in its current state.

daveh30 commented on Talking Point: The Wii U eShop is Raising Toug...:

i cant find the other post, but he was a bit more agitated... it was more like "i told you dave, it is a finished complete game. "

Hyperbole is the internet's best friend, and there's an unwritten rule that anything that vaguely disappoints must be colorfully compared to the experience of watching Hitler's ghost sodomizing a beloved childhood pet, but The Letter really is that bad.

daveh30 commented on Talking Point: The Wii U eShop is Raising Toug...:

@DefHalan when I messaged the developer and suggested that, perhaps, he should have finished the game before releasing it as opposed to relying on patches after the fact, he was very clear that he considers The Letter to be a finished, complete game in It's current form. The updates are only "bonus, added value" additions. That whole "but there's gonna be an update!" Argument we've seen on miiverse doesn't hold any weight.

I wish everyone would totally avoid the use of the word tablet when talking about the Gamepad. It's not a tablet, and no one with half a brain ever thought it was. Its a game controller. period. thats it. a very cool game controller, but just a video game controller.

daveh30 commented on Miyamoto Confirms Next Wii U System Update Is ...:

I want system wide achievements. So bad. Nintendo will always be my first love, but I find myself playing my PS3/4 and Vita more and more just because I'm addicted to trophies... If we can get achievements/ trophies in Mario Golf and Mario Kart, world peace cannot be far behind...

daveh30 commented on Wii Owners Are Upgrading To PlayStation 4, Cla...:

last gen i started out with a Wii & 360. i got sick of getting 360's replaced/ repaired after the 3rd RROD in a year and went with the PS3. upgraded my Wii to the U and PS3 to the 4.... done with MS. If i had to choose one, Nintendo always comes first. In fact, if Nintendo ceased to exist, i'd give up video games completely. Sony consoles are just to keep me occupied between big Nintendo releases...

daveh30 commented on Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3?:

personally, I thought it was all kind of a let down... anything I cared about at all we either already knew about (Zelda, Yoshi, Smash, Amiibo) or is too far off to get excited about now (Mario Maker, MP10, Splatoon, Star Fox) I was really hoping they'd have some big surprise for over the summer to maintain the MK8 momentum. I think Captain Toad (which I was really hoping to see again, either as a stand alone game or DLC for SM3DW) and Smash 3DS (which we knew about) were literally the only things they had I was interested in for this year.
