@Reala I was thinking the same thing. It's a little different now since there are three major players, where in the '90s it was just Sega v. Nintendo.

I find it odd that Iwata would say the Wii U can't read Gamecube discs. The Wii disc is the same format as the Gamecube disc; it just uses a full-size disc rather than that MiniDVD-sized discs. If the Wii U can't play GC games, it won't be because it can't read the disc- the same as how PS3s no longer play PS2 games.
