Doma commented on Smash Bros. Director Pushing Himself "To The B...:

If an awesome character has been cut to make room for the likes of Village boy an Wii fit girl, it will be kinda maddening.

My choices would be to remove:

Metaknight and King Dedede
Pokemon trainer
Ganondorf - liked him in melee but sucked in brawl.
Falco/Wolf - no more clones please. I'd like Peppy with a different moveset and a taunt that says “ everything’s A-OK!”
Ness - just replace him with Lucas since he's better.
Jigglypuff - has been a wasted slot since the beginning.
Lucario - will obviously be replaced with a new mon regardless.
Marth and Roy - instead use somebody cool like Lyn and Hector.
Wario - change him to regular version instead, with moves related to Wario Land games.
Sonic and Snake - will likely be removed anyway.

… I think that's it.

Will be the only version i end up buying if it turns out good. The characters look fine to me, while the backgrounds are pretty hideous and worse than a DS game (are those cardboard mountains i'm seeing..). I suppose they'll be improved on over time though.

Doma commented on 3DS Tops NPD Hardware Sales for May:

@Peach64 #21 Nailed it with that last sentence. The Nintendo you knew is indeed dead. The focus on casuals/kids is an absolute foremost now, and it's been that way for a long while. I can't see that ever changing unless their failure is enough to entice a major shift in management (kinda why i hope the WiiU does tbh, i'm not buying it).

The casual obsession is a corrupting influence. It gets to the point that even when they do produce that one rare title which heeds to the gamer crowd, its new selling point will be a casual mode or added functions conceived to rip away any form of challenge. Has been a big reason for why the majority of first-party games don't appeal to me much anymore and why i moved on to other systems.

That argument the fanboys give is “the games are fun, nothing else matters”, they don't seem to mind playing the same rehashes constantly. But that fun is generally mindless and can be achieved by playing one of the many, better games in their past catalogue. I wish more people would just say no to rehashes, maybe Nintendo would get the picture then... haha.

Doma commented on Nintendo's Scott Moffitt - Upcoming Wii U Line...:

I seriously doubt that... This guy's idea of “phenomenal content” fits with the likes of NSMBU which failed to ignite sales in the first place.

Most of their line-up consist of slapping a 'U' to the end of existing Wii ones that obtained high sales. The games themselves seem to mimic this amazing title innovation. What kind of awful and stale strategy is this, Nintendo? It deserves failure.

Doma commented on Talking Point: Nintendo's Wii U Lineup Makes C...:

IMO, in-order to spark interest they'll be needing something MUCH more noteworthy than the same old, safe, processed junk. The people who are excited by that line-up most likely already own the system or planned to.

All these rehashes combined with them being (rightfully) ditched by third-parties, has fully convinced me to not buy a WiiU and go with PS4 instead.

Lets see, checked my Gamefaqs and i own 9 3ds games in total, 3 of which are third-party (i don't bother with eshop btw). My ds collection probably dwarfed this in the same time period but nevermind.

Resident Evil is my only game on the list. Best rated by users here i see.

Damn you however for reminding me of Code of Princess' eshop only BS.

Mature, genre-defining storytelling experiences... i think the last game of this description ever coming from Nintendo was Majora's Mask, perhaps?

Just the thought of them ever trying to produce a game of similar experience again would be delusional at this point. N are more focused on kids now than they ever were in the past.

People here equating mature to violence and zombies are hilariously stupid btw. Wth is wrong your perception levels?

Doma commented on Talking Point: Nintendo Should Aim to Produce ...:

@KLer I thought the story in FE:A was really tame compared to the others i've played and i cared less about the characters because the means of recruiting them was always the same.

Also, they talk a lot of crap in the supports, serious conversations were scarce.

Doma commented on Talking Point: Nintendo Should Aim to Produce ...:

You aren't likely to ever see this kind of game from the current Nintendo, unfortunately. 'Mature' is an alien concept to them. Needs to appeal to everybody before it can even be considered. They'd rather stick with their Mario expansions and mini-games.

But don't worry, there's always third-party ga.... oh.

Doma commented on Pokémon X & Y Gearing Up the Hype Train for N...:

@flummerfelt It's definitely archaic. You're calling that tradition when all it does is waste valuable time? The way it's handled is dumb, you should at least be able to run as soon as you encounter, not; witness annoying screen transition - encounter - release your first pokemon - wait for the animations to end - run (then repeat a few seconds later)... so tedious. Gets even worse while traversing tall grass/caves, i begin to lose my mind at these sections.

Dragon Quest does it well but i'd rather not be able to see the actual pokemon before battle. GF should just use a generic monster shadow or similar. The series needs to progress. If almost every other RPG series is capable of upgrading to alternative, better methods, so can Pokemon.

Glad they don't adhere to degrading the experience of a game to try and appeal to casuals. Which happens constantly with Nintendo's games, difficulty and story wise.

This is easily the 3ds game i'm most looking forward to.

Doma commented on Feature: Our Top 10 3DS Games - Summer 2013:

FE should be my top, but it's been disappointing for me. The Story gets progressively worse from about the mid point, just found it boring after. Other than that, i was irked by the many ways in which the difficulty was nerfed, and hated having/needing the ability to grind on separate maps (free-roam should never been allowed imo). Great way to lose focus.

There were some obvious improvements from the previous entries – the custom avatar, battle animation, supports/indicators etc. But i'd never purposely grind just to obtain these conversations though. Too tedious. In the end playing this game just gave me the desire to play FE GBA again.

My best 3DS game remains the same as last year's: RE:R.
I have high hopes for SMTIV.

Doma commented on Round Table: Let's Talk About the 3DS:

If SMT4 actually gets released in EU before 2014, i'll be satisfied with the year's output. Much better than last year's 2 worthy games, at least.

I'll be praying for surprise Metroid and Advance Wars E3 announcements... otherwise those series can probably officially be declared as dead (to be buried beside Fzero and Starfox, R.I.P.)

Doma commented on Review: Resident Evil Revelations (Wii U):

It's just better suited on the system it was originally made for.
I tried the PS3 demo last week and it didn't feel right to me. The game's layout and controls are kinda too limited for something i'd want to play on consoles (should've been ported to vita instead really). The scanning element especially feels even more awkward than usual too.

Doesn't help that the last RE i played was 6 (horrible game but with MUCH better controls).

I think it's funny how people profess not to care, then proceed to type up some repetitive text walls full of whining afterwards...

Wouldn't it be smarter to just ignore the news posts you deem to be too awful to acknowledge (..come on, it's only facts), rather than try turn this site into a place for extreme fanboys only? Don't pretend that more effort is made to reporting the bad stuff, a quick look at the front page disproves that BS.

Doma commented on Feature: Robust DLC Ensures That Fire Emblem: ...:

@R-Moss I wouldn't go that far... but i don't think it's a great FE when compared to the best of the series (FE GBA and PoR imo). It's still good but, certain mechanics/elements in the game make it really feel toned down. Stuff like; being able to travel the map freely, pairing up (AND dual striking), shops availability, random weapon pick-ups etc. It's making this game a lot easier than it should be.

I'm up to chapter 8 so far, on classic/hard and it doesn't seem to actually be that challenging at all thanks to those combined features. Story wise it hasn't been that impressive either, but i'll wait and see before i judge that.

Don't buy the DLC, people! you won't be able to live with yourself LOL.

Seriously though, most of the DLC doesn't look all that worth it to me. After playing the first, free map i immediately felt that it was kinda pointless and only serves to make the game too easy.

Doma commented on Nintendo Won't Be Holding A Large-Scale Press ...:

Really lame thing to do from their perspective... to admit defeat and say “Hey, we won't be able to compete for people's attention anyway, so why bother?”.

Not that i care, mind you. Nintendo's past 2 E3 events were extremely tedious to watch, barely had anything new/interesting to show off, despite the fans all thinking they'd “bring it for sure this time!”, ha. This year they were probably planning to showcase Wii Fit as the majority focus anyway. I think for as long as Iwata's in charge, they'll always be desperate to try and appeal to casuals at the foremost.

Other announcements wise, this sucks because it probably means they don't have anything left. This year i was at least hoping for a new 3DS Metroid/Star Fox/new IP, but what do they announce instead? A massive flood of Mario games and same-old rehashes ( the Zelda and Pokemon do interest me, but still..). My interest in the Wii U couldn't be any lower.

Doma commented on Nintendo of Europe Offers Free Game in "So Man...:

@Five-seveN The only AC i've played was GC. From what i can tell, very little has changed about the game since then despite having regular entries. I get why people like the game but, i doubt there'd be much incentive for me to play it without those cool hidden NES gems. It just gets boring after a short while.

DKCR is awesome indeed. My low interest is due to owning it already. Wish it was a new game.
