Re: amiibo

CliffordB

I've already bought far more amiibo than I ever thought I would, in fact there's only one or two left now that I would especially like to get hold of, but, I've noticed many places online in the UK seem to be getting the so called rarest amiibo back in stock of late, so if this trend keeps up it should soon stop the ridiculous high prices many private seller's seem to be asking for.

Re: Your favourite amiibo?

CliffordB

@Aromaiden

It's funny how the Splatoon amiibo's seem to have had more effort go into them, especially in terms of detail than some of the more known Nintendo characters, saying that I do like my Toon Link as well, quite basic in terms of overall detail (sword & shield look pretty good mind), but looks just like he does in Zelda Wind Waker so it's pretty near perfect.

It also probably helps that I'm having a blast with Splatoon of late, so maybe I appreciate the Inkling Boy character more, but, looks really good anyway, the detail on the trainers and paint gun etc. look fantastic IMO.

Can anyone help, (sorry! if it's a silly question) I noticed when playing MK8 online earlier that at the end of the race you can press the START+ button and it counts up 1-6 stars, can any of you explain what this is all about? It also comes up when you race offline as well. Thanks!

You can save 6 races to watch later in Mario Kart TV, this tells you how many you've saved and if you've saved the current race. It also automatically saves the last twelve races.

That's great, thanks! so much for the heads-up, it was really bugging me not knowing what it was all about. Cheers! mate.

Re: Is that direct all nintendos doing for e3

CliffordB

I'll try and add one positive thing to this thread, and that is that two of the games I bought the Wii U for in the first place "Bayonetta 2" & "Mario Kart U" are probably two of the best looking games we know about, they both looked fantastic.

But, the real killer as I mentioned before is that Mario Kart is nigh on a year away, a Mario Kart game with great! online play is just the sort of game the Wii U needs NOW! not in a year's time.

As for Bayonetta 2 that could end up being towards the end of 2014 at this rate.

It just seems to long, in the meantime there's just nothing that exciting on the way at all, even something as good as Wind Waker is a ten year old game, so it's nothing major for a new console.

Also just remembered, they never showed any more of the new Yarn Yoshi game? that's a surprise, I thought that would have been an obvious game to show?

Re: Zen Pinball 2

CliffordB

Been about three weeks now since the online leaderboards stopped working for Zen Pinball 2, a Pinball game without working leaderboards is a waste of space IMO and because of this I've not touched the game since the problems and won't be until it's finally fixed.

Very disappointed how un-interested Zen studios seem to be with this game on the Wii U, I only have four tables and don't see me buying anymore on the Wii U version unless they come out with some exclusive's.

This game "sadly" runs better on other consoles and seems to have far better support than the Wii U version is getting both in terms of fixing problems & extra tables.

Luckily for me I've had the Star Wars tables on the PS3 version since they come out, and Zen have even recently released a standalone Star Wars Pinball game with new trophies and everything, so if you have a choice your better off with this game on other consoles, sad but true I'm afraid.

Did anybody seriously expect more from this Nintendo Direct? It was supposed to show off upcoming games for spring and summer. Of course they didn't pull out any big surprises here. The goodies are coming up in the Nintendo Direct that's close to E3.

Yeah! your probably right, can't argue with you, I suppose it's just there's always a little hope that a surprise may pop up in a Nintendo Direct, especially as it was the first proper "Wii U" one for a little while, but I guess we will have to wait a little longer for the big hitter's like Mario Kart U etc.

Europe/Australia get pikmin 3 before the usa awesome hahaha! and I can't wait for new super luigi u what did you like and what did you want to see I personally wish they showed more of Zelda windwaker hd remake or a 3d Mario but they're probably saving the big guns for e3 glad to know pikmin 3's release date though!

Two words spring to mind for me "very disappointing" just none of the games I wanted to hear about were mentioned, Mario U (3D), Mario Kart U, Bayonetta 2, Yarn Yoshi etc.

Also still not a single thing said about GameCube games coming to VC.

Finally while the 3DS is getting a brand new Mario Golf, the Wii U gets a crappy Winter Sports game, very poor.

This is my honest opinion, sorry!

No need to be sorry it's your opinion I don't mind I was only really happy about pikmin 3 because I had no release date yet I preordered it last month and new super luigi u not because it was that exciting but it's better then nothing because june is going to be a very dry month for games on the wii u just like this month and last month has been I was most excited about the sega and Nintendo partnership because of the possibilities I wanna think more then just a sonic partnership hopefully sega brings Nintendo there other great titles!

To be fair, maybe I was slightly harsh, I will agree with you that the SEGA partnership is interesting and certainly has "potential"

But, other than that, the Luigi game is just "OK" nothing more, and for me that was about it, I was probably expecting to much hence why I found it all a bit MEH!

Would have at least liked them to announce GameCube for the VC, that would have been something, but still no news in that area at all which I find very frustrating.

Re: Lego City Disc, please! help..

CliffordB

Many Thanks! guys for the feedback, it really is greatly appreciated, you've now put my mind at ease some what as it does indeed sound as though there's no problem with my disc.

@BradPJ you said: "Takes the Wii U longer to recognize the game at the menu." this is exactly what I was worried about, simply as I've never had this with any other Wii U game, so it did seem strange.

I have played a bit of the game 15-30mins or so (awesome game by the way) and have had no problems at all "touch wood"

Re: Lego City Undercover

CliffordB

After what happened with Rayman Legends, this game "Lego City" is without a doubt the first big Wii U release in my eyes, and boy does the Wii U need this to be good, in fact I'd say the Wii U needs this to be great! as good might not be enough to see the game do well.

I've bought loads of games of late (to many) all on either the PS3 or Xbox 360, with the likes of Bioshock Infinite, God of War Ascension & Sly 4 still to come, so I really hope Lego City gives me a reason to get back to my Wii U, I have it on pre-order so I'm fairly optimistic about the game.

If worse does come to worst and Lego City flops, then, it will feel like an age waiting for the next big game to come out on the Wii U (not interested in Monster Hunter myself).

Re: It's the GAMES that matter, gimme your TOP 10 of ALL TIME, regardless of system

CliffordB

Interesting topic, although tough to answer, but I'll list a few of the first games that come to mind: (in no particular order)

Mass Effect Trilogy (Xbox 360) Just love the whole series, looking forward to the final DLC.
The Walking Dead (PSN Download) Not even a fan of The Walking Dead in particular, but, loved the game, story & characters.
Heavy Rain (PS3) Brilliant gaming experience & atmosphere first time through.
Star Wars KOTOR I & II ( Xbox) Loved both of these games, still waiting for a third in the series.
Mario Kart (SNES upto Wii) Liked every one in it's own way, can't wait for it to hit the Wii U.
Bioshock (Xbox 360) The original and by far the best, be interesting to see how "Infinite" turns out, it's looking promising.
Onimusha 2 (PS2) My favourite in this series, still own it today, even the graphics still look good.
Resident Evil 4 (GameCube) Still think this is the best RE game overall, just seemed to get the balance right between action & horror.
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) Epic game in every way, still hoping to see "The Last Guardian" eventually.
GTA Vice City (PS2) Don't think they will ever better this GTA, had everything right, characters, music, setting etc.

Probably could think of loads more, but these are a few off the top of my head.

Re: Mario Golf: World Tour

CliffordB

Congrats, to all you lucky 3DS owners, I'm feeling really jealous at the moment, Mario Golf is one game I was dying to play on the Wii U, I was so hoping for a HD version on the Wii U after the Wii missed out on a Mario Golf game altogether, to say I'm gutted would be a major understatement.

I wish the Wii U was getting more classic Nintendo franchises like this, also have to say the same about Luigi's Mansion 2, looks fantastic, I live in hope that the Wii U may one day see this type of true high quality exclusive's on the console.

Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines

CliffordB

So, with all the truly awful reviews going around today about this game, I have "2" questions about the Wii U version, DO YOU THINK:

A) The Wii U version will now be canned?
B) The Wii U version will now be worked on a lot more and have lots of improvements, similar to what happened with Ninja Gaiden 3?

So what do you all think!

CliffordB

Re: Your Wii U collection so far......

CliffordB

So far.... I have:

NSMBU
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge
Nintendo Land (Come with bundle)
ZombiU (Not tried it yet!)

Download:
Zen Pinball 2 (Only got 4 tables, Captain America, Epic Quest, Fantastic Four & PvsZ )

Next Wii U buy:
Lego City: Undercover (Would have been Rayman Legends, anyway won't go there, lol)

Re: Rayman Legends delayed

CliffordB

They say one of the hardest things to say is "sorry" and admit you've made a mistake, but, I don't see any reason why Ubisoft can't hold their hands up and admit they were wrong over the delay of Rayman Legends on Wii U and go ahead and release it this month as planned, all Wii U owners will then be happy, Ubisoft should also be happy as I'm sure the Wii U version will be picked up by many if it's released NOW!

& PS3/Xbox 360 owners can still be happy knowing that they will be getting a game they never even expected to get at a later date.

I see no reason/excuse why this can't be done, and I think the majority of people would be happy with this.

CliffordB

Re: Nintendo UK & Ireland website....

CliffordB

It's certainly taking them a long time then even for a revamp.

I agree 100% with you about stars expiring, I've had loads expire recently because the stars catalogue is never updated with anything worthwhile, and I simply refuse to use them on something I don't want/need, bit of a con if you ask me, never update the catalogue and everyone's hard earned stars expire, not impressed to be honest.

I think your right this could really hurt the Wii U as well, lol, only kidding.

CliffordB

Re: is anyone worried about the wii U ??

CliffordB

I think I'd use two different words to describe how I'm feeling about the Wii U right now, rather than "worried" I'd say I'm both "disappointed" & "frustrated"

I'm disapppointed that there is just a total lack of games to play on the console with not a lot coming out anytime soon either, I said in another thread the other day the main game I play on the Wii U at the moment is PINBALL, now although a solid game I did not buy a Wii U to play pinball, also as much as I look forward to playing WindWaker in HD, no matter which way you look at it, it's an old GameCube game, what I'm saying is Nintendo need to get some brand new Wii U titles out fast and good ones.

As for being frustrated, I'm frustrated that every day there seems to be more doom & gloom around the Wii U, you can't go on a gaming website without spotting some negative news about the console, I'm also still really frustrated about the delays the Wii U keeps getting, I hate what Ubisoft have done to early Wii U owners with Rayman Legends (had it on pre-order for months myself), also like many I will now almost certainly pick up Aliens: CM on another console because of the Wii U delay, so as you can see so much frustration.

The sooner Bayonetta 2, Mario U, Mario Kart U, Yarn Yoshi U & Zelda U etc. come out the better, also how about a new Donkey Kong Country game and a new Punch Out!! & Mario Golf/Tennis, the Wii U is missing so many games that you'd expect to have on a new Nintendo console IMO.

Re: Rayman Legends delayed

CliffordB

Also just imagine how many sales the Wii U will lose over the Aliens: CM delay and now Rayman Legends.

Anyone now who owns a PS3/Xbox 360 is almost certain to get Aliens: CM next week! rather than wait for a Wii U release date (whenever that will be), where as if the Wii U version had come out at the same time I'm convinced it would have sold much better.

As for Rayman Legends, I'm sure most people who have the choice will now pick it up on a platform with the added incentive of achievements/trophies to unlock, if they now pick the game up at all that is.

Huge blow for Nintendo and the Wii U, period.

Re: Rayman Legends delayed

CliffordB

Ubisoft can kiss my big fat hairy a**e, another DEMO, awful, I did not even bother getting the first DEMO, I knew I wanted Rayman Legends as it was one of the main reasons I bought a Wii U "at launch"

I just want the full game to experience, playing to many DEMO's just take away that special feel of a new game feeling extra fresh the first time you play it etc.

I truly can't believe that Nintendo can't convince Ubisoft to do a U-turn and release this game as promised, surely Nintendo know it was one of there biggest games to be coming out in the early life of the Wii U, I tell you right here & now that if the Wii U version is held back to tie in with the PS3/Xbox 360 release it will hardly sell at all on the Wii U, mark my words, Nintendo should do all they possibly can to sort this mess out, they must know it was a vital early release, surely?

CliffordB

Re: Rayman Legends delayed

CliffordB

@Big_L91

I totally agree with everything you said, I do love my Wii U, but, when the game I play most on it is a downloaded "PINBALL" game then you quickly start to notice how little is out (or coming out) for the console, this latest Rayman news has left a real bitter taste to say the least.

CliffordB

Re: Rayman Legends delayed

CliffordB

I truly think that this news is a major blow to Nintendo, I think loads of people will end up buying Rayman Legends on either the PS3 or Xbox360 because of the trophies/achievements, I know some of you say this is no big deal, but, I say just take a look on Miiverse there's always posts on there asking Nintendo to come out with an achievement type system.

Also losing two so called exclusive's in as many days is just terrible, Ninja Gaiden, now Rayman Legends, which lets face it was looking like one of the most promising early Wii U exclusive's by far.

On top of this we already know that Wii U won't see the likes of Bioshock Infinite, DMC & Tomb Raider.

Plus! Aliens: CM has now also been delayed "ONLY ON THE WII U" so I ask you all, can things get any worse for Nintendo and the Wii U, when you stop for a minute and consider one of the games many people are looking forward to is just a GameCube remake with HD graphics, well I for one start to worry for the Wii U.

I wonder how long it will be before Bayonetta 2 &/or Lego City: Undercover is the next title announced to be going multi-platform?

Just for the record I love my Wii U, but I truly feel the console could fail big-time if Nintendo don't get a move on and give all us Nintendo fans some good news soon!
