Secrets REVEALED!

Male, 20, United States

Love me some nintendo. Favorite game is Chrono Trigger on SNES/DS. The only current gen console I own is the Wii U, but I stay up to date with gaming news for other systems too.

Simon Belmont should be in Smash Bros. The style of his character would be pretty different from most of the existing ones and his whip and all of the special items would give them plenty of variety when deciding what moves he should have. It seems like the perfect fit for smash bros to me, especially when Castlevania is one of the most iconic game series for Nintendo's early systems.

@Daggo Same with me dude. I have a rad PC, it's more powerful than any of the new systems. The Wii U has the pad and some great 1st party games coming up that really make it a unique experience. The 3DS has an AWESOME selection of games now, as well as the eshop to get good classic games for cheap. Seems like these three are the best combination to have.
I don't have any interest in an Xbox One or PS4, neither of them have anything to offer that I don't already have, other than little extra features and gimmicks.

BennyFresh commented on Mutant Mudds Developer Muses on Wii U Design:

I think the root of the problem comes in with it being called the "Wii U" in the first place. It could look exactly the way it does now, but if they gave it a name that made it clear it was NOT A WII then Nintendo would have seen a HUGE increase in sales. Even a couple of my friends who stay relatively up to date with gaming news thought it was just a peripheral for the Wii for a while.
When a big part of your demographic is small kids and/or their parents who don't know much about the gaming world, you need to make it clear to them that they are buying something new. My aunt even made a comment to me once about the 3DS saying "it's just another new name to try and get you to buy the same thing again" which obviously isn't true.
Nintendo just needs to be aware that the people they are selling too aren't looking for new information on games, so they have to be shown it very clearly.

I still don't see the appeal of COD really. They just aren't that great games, and everyone I know that says they are has little to no experience with other games. I guess I could see how you could get hooked into the multiplayer. I'll be skipping this one.
If you're looking for a REALLY good FPS pick up Deus Ex Human Revolution for Wii U. If you do like Call of Duty I would still suggest checking it out, it isn't really the same kind of game though.

I would never say that it is wrong to make a short game, some games are great that way and wouldn't work if they were drawn out. There are a lot of games I like that are less than 12 hours long. That said, I don't know if I can justify a full $60 purchase for only 10 hours or less. Once the summer sale starts on steam I can pick up probably 15 games or more for that price.
I appreciate the work and skill that goes into any game, but I personally can't put that kind of money down for a short game, I don't have enough cash to throw around like that.

I talked to one of the two guys that made this at PAX East and tried the game. It's a ton of fun, if you like platformers and has a lot of interesting ideas. I already own it for PC, but I would buy it again for Wii U to support them.

@Deathgaze Ok? That's cool that you did? Are you saying that everyone should just accept that they have to pay hundreds of dollars for one game and not bother asking for it in a form that's affordable?
What if they released the next Zelda game but it cost $300? Of course some people would still buy it, but that doesn't suddenly make it invalid for people to want it for less.

BennyFresh commented on Rejoice, Mario Kart Wii U Is Coming This Year:

There just isn't enough content in recent Mario Kart games to keep me interested. There is usually 32 tracks, which is pretty good, but gets stale fast, for me at least. If you're not playing local multiplayer I just dont see the appeal anymore, there really isn't a significant difference in the gameplay of any of the recent games.
Don't get me wrong, the games are fun, they just aren't different enough from each other.

BennyFresh commented on New Zelda Documentary Seeks To Explain The Cul...:

People think $50,000 is a LOT of money? What?
This guy is trying to produce a full-length documentary in only 8 months with only $50,000. That price is what is making me skeptical about the project.
I guess most people don't realize how much goes into video production, but to put things in perspective, professional quality video cameras can be 15,000-25,000 dollars or more. Renting equipment can cost hundreds of dollars a day. After you secure all the equipment you need to pay the whole crew, which might not be big for something like this, but that will still be expensive. Editing the video itself, effects and color correction, logo designs, publishing DVDs are all separate expenses too.
That's not even close to everything he would need to pay for. $50,000 is pretty optimistic I think.
He didn't include directly what all of the money would go toward on the page, which most people do, so I can see why not everyone would get it.

I played the demo they had set up at PAX East and i was rad. Yacht Club Games is made up of people who previously worked at Wayforward, so they have a pretty solid background. They guys I talked to were really cool and had some great ideas about what they want to do with the game. I made an account just to kickstart this, I can't wait. Even if this kind of game isn't really your thing you should at least take a look at it.

I played shovel knight at PAX East and talked with one of the developers. What I played of the game was rad and the team working on it is made up of people who previously worked at Wayforward. More people should be excited for Shovel Knight.

No way this is "sharper than the PC version". I played it through twice on PC and I played the Wii U game at PAX East and the Wii U version definitely adds a lot, but I wouldn't call it "sharper" at all.
That said, this game is rad and if you don't have a fantastic PC then get it for your Wii U as soon as you can, you won't be disappointed.

A large part of Nintendo's demographic is children and families, people who don't stay up to date on gaming news or details on what hardware they're using. The name "Wii U" lost them a TON of sales in the first place because people didn't know it was a different system or thought it was just a new version of the system, like the DSi.
TV ads should be a bigger part of their advertising campaign if they want to sell the system.

Honestly really don't care about Dark of the Moon. The last Luigi's Mansion game was kind of mediocre, it all felt like kind of a grind. Maybe this one will be better, but I need Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, Starfox and Oracle of Seasons and Ages on 3DS before I get this.

The only boss I really had an issue with was the final one, which was garbage, but that's good that they're changing them, I know they didn't work out for a lot of people.
Honestly the biggest selling point (other than the controller features) is the fact that the DLC will be worked into the story. If you bought DLC for the original you would get a silenced sniper rifle right at the beginning of the game, which is essentially breaks a big portion of the game.
I played it on my super powered PC, so the graphics will actually be worse this time for me, but I love the game so much I might buy it anyway. Apparently I might be able to try it at PAX East, we'll see after that.

The first sold well because of the, one of the best game trailers in years. Unfortunately the game was kind of garbage, full of bugs and dumb gameplay decisions. If Riptide was coming to wii u I wouldn't buy it anyway.

@Knux Kickstarter projects have produced some really awesome stuff recently. I can see why you wouldn't want to back them yourself, but if other people want to risk there money to get a neat looking game made then they should go ahead. Obviously not all of them will be great, but you don't have to buy them.

@Zaphod_Beeblebrox What specifically do you mean? I've had mine since around Christmas and I have yet to run into anything that made me regret getting it. Most of the problems people complain about are hugely exaggerated, particularly the thing about the load times. Honestly if no one had told me that people were upset by that I never would have guessed, it takes an average of like 15-20 seconds for the games to start.

@retro_player_22 @Zombie_Barioth
Those are both legitimate points. I don't necessarily think he deserves to be in the game MORE than other characters. Simon Belmont is perfect for smash bros. and the Castlevania games have been closely tied with Nintendo since the 80's.
I really just meant that these guys don't deserve all the hate the people in these comments are giving them.

BennyFresh commented on Team Meat: We'd Work With Nintendo If Meat Boy...:

Everyone in these comments seems to be looking at this situation really backwards. It would cost nintendo a ton of money to get the rights to use an IP they don't already own, so offering Super Meat Boy, one of the biggest indie game characters of all time, for free seems like a pretty good deal.
Developing a game for Wii U or 3DS also makes Nintendo a lot of money, so asking them for a dev kit for free isn't ridiculous.
I would agree that Super Meat Boy shouldn't be in the game until the game is at least on a Nintendo console, but there are a lot of people in these comments saying he doesn't "deserve to be in Super Smash Bros.". Have you played the game? IT KICKS ASS. The quirky art style, subtle references, excellent controls and fantastic level design all work together to create one of the best platformers in years.
I can see how this could seem arrogant, but remember this is through an interview with Eurogamer, it's not an official proposal to Nintendo.
Seriously these guys are great people who make great games.
