Beechbone commented on Review: Pokémon Shuffle (3DS eShop):

It's okay to play twice a day on my way to and back from work. Not the best match three I've seen but they made a good effort in designing the mechanics and how they tie-in with the Pokemon.

Beechbone commented on Mario Kart 8 DLC Still Set for May as Online e...:

This was a long time coming and actually still is couple months away. I loved DLC pack 1 so obviously I'm eager to play the second one but yeah, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to deliver this content earlier. Unless it's really taking so long to develop it, then I don't mind waiting if the content is polished.

Beechbone commented on Weirdness: Even Masahiro Sakurai Struggles to ...:

Also, here in Poland I don't see any stock shortages. You can buy pretty much any amiibo that has been released so far in Europe for it's normal price. I'm not really collecting all of them but I will be picking up some of the upcoming ones.

Beechbone commented on Weirdness: Even Masahiro Sakurai Struggles to ...:

I don't get what's the point in going for that kind of low stock of some amiibos? I understand that people are more keen to buy limited stuff because they realize it's not gonna be available later, but Nintendo seems to deliberately underproduce them.

Beechbone commented on Video: Donkey Kong Country Returns...To Wii U:

This is just a digital re-release and nothing more. I remember playing it couple of years ago with wiimote + nunchack and honestly I don't know what's the big deal with "bad controls" in this game. I admit that it controls rather horrible with wiimote only but if you're using the nunchuck it plays just fine.

Also, these videos are pointless. When Metroid hits eShop in a week's time, let me predict what's gonna happen. Is it going to be a different game? Will there be anything changed or added or enhanced in the eShop version? The answer is: NO.

Beechbone commented on Weirdness: These Push Guards for the New Ninte...:

Never happened to me and I can't see it happening on New 3DS. I carry the 3DS either in my pocket or a case, never loose in a bag so that's totally useless to me, especially that most of the games I have in digital copies anyway.

Beechbone commented on Video: Super Mario 64 Is Getting A Fan-Made HD...:

Cool, the question is does this game really needs a remake? Nintendo could do an official one probably for a rather small cost using SM3D World assets and a little bit updated/enhance gameplay/controls.

I guess there's a bigger chance for original SM64 to be released for Wii U VC in some future.

Beechbone commented on Kickstarter Project Wants to Turn Your Game Bo...:

Great idea, let's take cult classic portable console and make it not-portable. Seems like these guys saw PlayStation TV device and thought it would be cool to do the same with GB. And 65 thousand euro? That's a lot of money for TV adapter.

Beechbone commented on Sonic Boom Wii U And 3DS Both Stall Outside Of...:

I guess the way to commercial success is just making kick-ass games, and Sega does not seem to get it. They should stop trying so hard to reinvent Sonic and just do a super polished 2D platformer that relies on tried ideas. When they nail the "classic" Soinc kind of game, they should start experimenting with it little by little.

Beechbone commented on Guide: Getting the Most out of Your amiibo wit...:

Do you have to place the amiibo on the GamePad every time you start Smash Bros. ? Or it's just one-time scan of the figure and the game remembers it? The point of having physical figures is the interaction so I was kind of wondering how often do you have to use them with the gamepad,

Beechbone commented on Mario Kart 8 Software Update Will Unlock amiib...:

It's greaat to see that various amiibos will work with multiple titles. I also hapoe that for Smash Bros. the same amiibos will work with both 3DS and Wii U versions in a way that you can carry your amiibos state and progress between both games.

Beechbone commented on Digital Foundry Pins Down Mario Kart 8's Resol...:

I was wondering why Nintendo was showing this aliased 720p screenshots all the time and here's the answer. 720p with no AA. I couldn't care less about resolutiongate so it doesn't affect my thoughts on the game. Still getting it on day one. And kudos to Nintendo that they didn't lie with promotional screenshots like almost everybody else does.

Beechbone commented on Upcoming Child of Light Patch to Rename Diffic...:

Hmm, that's kinda strange. So, is the game too easy on "normal"? I usually do my first playthrough of most games on "normal" as I think this is kind of "as intented" and not too hard but not too easy setting. I'm gonna get Child of Light in upcoming weeks and when looking at "casual" vs "expert" I feel like I'm fitting somewhere in between in RPGs. On the other hand the first "Gears of War" on "casual" was a pretty big challenge so naming conventions are really not worth much.

Beechbone commented on Mario Kart 8 Bundle Dips Below £200 In The UK...:

If Nintendo doesn't ship some serious numbers on both the game and the system then it might be game over. I really hope that MK8 will get a lot of press coverage and great review scores for that damn Metacritic to go sky-high and get attention of all the undecided folks. I really want Wii U to succeed and to get more great games. I own Wii U since launch and already played some great titles on it, I'm very happy with the console and don'y want to see it go away. The only way we can shape the industry is to vote with our wallets what games should be made.

Beechbone commented on Review: Child of Light (Wii U eShop):

So it has Off-TV play, correct? And it runs 60fps like on other systems? And, could someone clarify how the co-op works in terms of controls on Wii U? The review says the second player uses Wii Remote in a similiar way to Super Mario Galaxy, but it does not support motion controls. So, do you move the pointer with D-pad or Nunchuck or what?

Beechbone commented on Shenmue 3 Could Happen Via A Kickstarter Campa...:

Well, doing next-gen open world game with rich deep gameplay, voce acting and everything on Kickstarer. Not gonna happen, unless Kickstarter would be just well, a start to attract some publisher willing to fund majoriy of the project alongside marketing.

Beechbone commented on Nintendo Comes Up Empty at BAFTA Awards:

As they say, may the best win, and Nintendo faced off with some classy competition this year. It's always nice to see Nintendo games being recognized but for me BAFTA's are probably the most fair awards show out there.

Beechbone commented on Review: Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (3DS eShop):

As always nothing beats free, so I can't complain. I've been playing this version on 3DS for past couple of days and the contrained screen gets a little in a way of moving around some areas but all in all it's still Mario and it's still awesome.

Beechbone commented on Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U...:

Off-TV play streams video at 60fps (for supported games) so I'd say it's pretty kick-donkey.I agree GamePad's not been used in the most creative ways so far, maybe except for Rayman Legends to which it is absolutely essential. I just like Wii U GamePad :)
Please watch the profanity — TBD

Beechbone commented on Nintendo and Retro Studios Speak on Resistance...:

@unrandomsam Yeah, controllers are nice thing for mobile platformers but only a handful of players will use it and when designing a game you have to assume that most people will use touch controls. Also take into account different screen resolutions and aspect ratios and hardware. It's a lot more pain than developing for one fixed system.

I always had a problem with gaming on phones because you basically obscure large part of the screen with your fingers. It's less of an issue on a tablet but holding a tablet is not that much comfortable, at least compared to say Wii U GamePad.

Beechbone commented on Nintendo and Retro Studios Speak on Resistance...:

You can't port Nintendo platformers to touch devices. However, it is possible to create brand new experiences on phones and tablets (see excellent Rayman Jungle Run) but still it's impossible to hit the Nintendo quality and joy of playing as far as platformers go. Does anyone want Mario auto runner?
