AcesHigh73 commented on Did You Realise Lone Survivor Was Coming to Wi...:

Lone Survivor is a wonderfully atmospheric retro-enthused survival horror title, and entirely worth double-dipping for — I enjoyed the hell out of it on Vita last year — so come Q4, it'll have a home on my GamePad too (kind of off-topic, but: come on Nintendo, give us folders already!).

Curve's continued Wii U support is just awesome. Hey, here's hoping Mike Bithell's, Curve-published, Thomas Was Alone is also U-bound. Fingers crossed.

Okay, sure we want N64 and GC to fiiiiiiinally come to the Wii U Virtual Console party, but in the meantime, I for one am more than happy with timeless NES greats like Dracula's Curse... At least I would be if it was on the EU store!

Oh and by the way, for those that've not yet got round to it — and are up for a pretty stiff challenge! — Kid Icarus is another fantastic NES classic.

AcesHigh73 commented on Nintendo Download: 24th July (Europe):

@Nintendzoey Having had to sell my 3DS XL as a makeweight for the purchase of my beloved Wii U at the back end of last year (with it's steady stream of awesome indies, I just couldn't part with my Vita — I know, shoot me), I'm hoping to finally replace it this summer. And you know what Nintendzoey, I think you're really onto something by plumping for a North American system.

Indeed, three factors are pushing me towards investing in a US XL:

—1— First up, eShop games are generally cheaper than their EU counterparts. Plus, as I almost always download my handheld games (both eShop and retail), there would be no issues concerning not being able to play EU carts.

—2— Another factor is that I'm often left frustrated by the fact that so many great eShop titles are launching in America so far ahead of the rest of us. If I did have a US 3DS at my disposal, I'd already be playing two of my most anticipated games on any console, namely Shovel Knight and 1001 Spikes! Ditto Wii U, I guess, but Cave Story and VVVVVV are another brace of awesome indies that would have been in my grasp a good year or so ahead of their eventual EU relaeases.

—3— Lastly, with my younger brother taking his family to Disney World, Florida for their hols next month, what a great opportunity to get him to pick up a bargain for me while he's over there.

But... what do my fellow NintendoLifers reckon? Am I being blind mad and foolhardy or a shrewd, proactive Nintendo fan?

ON TOPIC: Really looking forward to Wooden Sen'Sey on Thursday!!

AcesHigh73 commented on If Your Free Mutant Mudds 3DS Update Causes Is...:

@ThomasBW84 / fellow NintendoLifers — Hey Tom, I've got a very quick question for you, if that's okay buddy... Do we know if Renegade Kid ever plan to bring Mutant Mudds Deluxe to PAL region Wii U's, or should I finally give up on the idea of ever getting to play my favourite eShop platformer on my GamePad?

I've asked Jools Watsham several times now (via email of course), but disappointingly — and somewhat surprisingly — I've never got any sort reply. Not even a simple 'we don't know yet'.

Cheers Tom / everyone! :-)

I really enjoyed Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark on PS Vita — plus I'm a hooge fan of Curve — so I'll definitely be all over Stealth Inc 2 on Wii U later this year.

Like puzzle platformers? Like sneaky sneaking? Yes? You'll LOVE Stealth Inc, I assure you!

As someone who's played through the PS Vita version of Guacamelee! several times, I really can't recommend it highly enough. It's an intoxicating mix of Metroidvania platforming and old skool 2D brawling — and needless to say, I'll certainly be indulging in a spot of Super Turbo Championship fun come Thursday!

What with the PS3 (cross-buy) version, Guacamelee! on Wii U will be my third copy of this particular downloadable. Cool beans! :-)

Lots of cool Wii U stuff on the way for me in the coming months! As a Londoner, I just hope that we're not left waiting too long for the likes of Shovel Knight and 1001 Spikes, etc. Then again, we're STILL waiting for Mutant Mudds Deluxe here, so I guess I can only remain so positive. Either way, as and when they do hit the eShop, I'll definitely be grabbing:

A.N.N.E.
Chromophore: The Two Brothers Director's Cut
Costume Quest 2
Guacamelee!
Hyper Light Drifter
Insanity's Blade
Mighty No. 9
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty
Paradise Lost: First Contact
Pier Solar and the Great Architects
Q.U.B.E.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Shantae and the Pirates Curse
Shovel Knight
Stealth Inc 2
SteamWorld Dig
Swords & Soldiers II
The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup
Wooden Sen'Sey
1001 Spikes

AcesHigh73 commented on Nintendo Open To Minecraft on Wii U and 3DS, a...:

"...Nintendo's hardware is the only option that supports both touch and analogue control..."

Ermmmm, Playstation Vita has both too. In fact, Minecraft is actually due to debut on Sony's handheld — alongside the PS4 version — this August! Regardless, I'd love for Mojang's ridiculously successful sandbox to come to Wii U at some point. I'd certainly buy it. And heck, it might just be the carrot that tempts potential Wii U buyers off the fence?!

I absolutely loved Guacamelee! on my PS Vita last year. In fact, I've played through it three times now, but I'll still grab it for my trusty Wii U when it hits the eShop in a fortnight :-)

NL — are you sure it's out on 2nd July guys? Only that's a Wednesday.

AcesHigh73 commented on Miyamoto Confirms Next Wii U System Update Is ...:

For me, there's a number of things that I'd like to see, but only three that I REALLY need:

1 — The ability to actually play Wii games on the Wii U GamePad. We can already 'watch' them on the GamePad screen, but I want to 'control' them with it too! How cool would it be to play the likes of the Super Mario Galaxy games off-TV? My youngest daughter meanwhile, would love to play Kirby's Adventure away from the TV - a domain that her older sister dominates ;-)

2 — Another thing that'd be cool is for retail game icons to remain on the GamePad homescreen when it's disc is removed — it'd be great to see all your game icons in one place, both digital and retail.

3 — This one is a very small request, but like one or two readers have already mentioned, folders really are a straight forward implementation and absolutely essential for those of us with tons of eShop/VC icons cluttering up our homepage's. Especially if, as per my second point, those icons were to include 'all' of our retail games too.

Here's hoping!

AcesHigh73 commented on Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition Releas...:

Yep, I loved the original game AND the first release of this 20th Anniversary Edition when it released with surprisingly decent touchscreen controls on the iOS App Store a couple of years back. Hoping for a speedy EU release, and when it does, I'll be grabbing this badboy again for both my Wii U and PS Vita - yes, it's that good. Four times the fun! :-)

AcesHigh73 commented on Talking Point: What We Expect From Nintendo at...:

My top 10 Wii U predictions for Nintendo's E3 presentation:

1 - A proper trailer for the upcoming Zelda game, a full title reveal, and an approximate release window. I wouldn't be surprised if they even have a short playable demo for fans at the show.

2 - A teaser reveal for the next 3D Mario Game. But will it be Wii U or 3DS? My guess is the former.

3 - More details, trailers and confirmation of 2014 launch windows for Bayonetta 2, Monolith's X branded title and Yarn Yoshi.

4 - A brand new Wii U game from an existing first-party franchise. If it isn't Metroid, then I'd have to plump for one from Animal Crossing, Pokemon or Star Fox.

5 - Three new budget titles presented by Miyamoto, with one being a brand new IP that will specifically revolve around the GamePad and demonstrate just how great it really is!

6 - Details of the first batch of DS games to hit the Wii U Virtual Console. They may even go as far as releasing the first two or three straight after their presentation today. Possibly something like NSMB, Super Mario 64 or Phantom Hourglass.

7 - Speaking of the VC, I reckon they'll have some news regarding a 2015 launch for GameCube titles to join the service. And maybe even GBA games for 3DS??!!

8 - This ones a bit of a long-shot as the franchise is still very new, but after the success of the two NES Remix games on the Wii U eShop, they may well announce a forthcoming SNES Remix iteration.

9 - A tediously long and convoluted NFC presentation.

10 - This is probably the least likely of my ten predictions, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if they announce their intention to add full GamePad support for retrospective Wii games played on Wii U! A guy can dream right?

AcesHigh73 commented on Feature: Our Top 10 Wii U Retail Games - Summe...:

Okay, here's my top ten Wii U retail games to date:

1. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
2. Mario Kart 8
3. Super Mario 3D World
4. Batman: Arkham City - Armoured Edition
5. Need for Speed: Most Wanted U
6. Rayman Legends
7. Call of Duty: Black Ops II
8. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
9. Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag
10. New Super Mario Bros U

NFS: Most Wanted - the most underrated of Wii U's entire retail line-up? It certainly gets my vote! Meanwhile, I really ought to point out that poor 'ol Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101 and ZombiU oh so narrowly missed out on my top ten. All together now, let's hear it for this 'Tantalising Trio of Top Ten Teaser Titles': Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone! :-)

At last, an opportunity to finally grab the Wonderful 101..!!! Well, maybe. I've played through my brothers copy of NSMBU, but still haven't bought it myself. Hmmm... Maybe I should go for that instead and grab the New Super Luigi DLC to go with it? I pretty much have all the others already — the ones I want, that is.

I loved Another World the first time round, and enjoyed the Anniversary Edition on iPad even more. So... I'm more than happy to double-dip by grabbing it for my trusty-twosome (Wii U and Vita) as well. Hang on, or is that triple-dipping? No, no, quadruple-dip is just being silly ;-)

As someone who really enjoyed Mutant Blobs Attack, and utterly adored Guacamelee! on Vita, I consider myself a big fan of those talented guys at Drinkbox. And with that in mind, Severed looks right up my alley. So long as it doesn't require multi-touch, it should be a perfect for Wii U (and 3DS). Here's hoping, at least.
