I think SMB revolutionized play controls. That said, when SMB 2 came out, I remember thinking it was even better. Yeah, the throwing fruit part didn't go over well, but it fixed a few minor problems with SMB's controls. From SMB2 onward, Mario was pretty much the go-to series for perfect controls.

I think it's awesome. Any optional, extra free DLC is appreciated, even if it has corporate logos on it. IMO, in-game logos would be a welcome way to make games cheaper. If it would lower the price of the game, I want Mario to wear Coca Cola overalls while driving a Prius decorated with the Axe Body Spray logo, with genuine Firestone tires, zooming past billboards for Comcast and Microsoft.

Exactly what I was going to say... it even has you collect mushrooms. Okay, not for the same reason as any Mario game, but still, why would anyone hoping to avoid Nintendo's wrath even touch mushrooms? Not only are they copying Nintendo's style, they're calling attention to it. Has nobody learned from the Ghouls and Ghosts incident?

I went, it was fun. I got to play 3 tracks of Mario Kart 8, and watched other people play Donkey Kong and Mario 3D Land. Nobody picked Zelda while I was there, that was disappointing. But I got a Luigi hat.

Back in the 8-bit days, I loved the story scenes. Sometimes it was the best chance for the programmers to show off what cool graphics they could make with limited resources. The NES Ninja Gai Den series was particularly impressive. But now that they can do pretty much anything with CGI, it's no longer impressive. And lets face it, very few of these stories are well-written enough to compete with actual movies. When I want to watch a movie, I'll watch a movie. But when I want to play a game, just let me play the game.
