We're only a few weeks away from the launch of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on Switch, and while the Bowser's Fury expansion might be the biggest selling point for those who already own the Wii U original, the base game will be receiving some very welcome tweaks, too.

On its official website, Nintendo has gone into a little more detail on the platforming present in the main game, specifically highlighting how the new Switch release will enhance the original's already impressive gameplay. "As an enhanced version of Super Mario 3D World, some brand new gameplay improvements have been made to spice up this adventure," the site reads.

Here are the improvements to look out for:

"All characters have received a boost to their running speed and climb even higher after picking up a Super Bell, making platforming that little bit snappier. You can now also use gyro controls for certain sections of the game that previously required touch controls."

The boost in running speed is something that we'd already noticed ourselves from examining trailer footage – you can see that in action in our video below. What's interesting here, though, is that we now know characters will have better climbing abilities and that the Wii U game's touch control sections have been replaced with gyro control support. Neat.

It's all sounding like it'll be another solid port on Switch, and an especially nice treat for those who never had the chance to play the original.

Are you sold on this new 3D World release? Have you already got your pre-order in? Let us know in the comments.
