Today's Pokémon Presents show unveiled plenty of new things like Pokémon Smile, Pokémon Cafe Mix, and even a brand new Pokémon Snap, but it also teased something bigger.
At the end of the show, The Pokémon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara teased a 'big project' that's going to be unveiled next week in a second presentation, set to air on 24th June. No further details have been provided, but fans have already started to speculate on what the project might be.
We imagine you've read this article's title by now, giving the game away somewhat, but take a look at this screenshot we grabbed from today's live stream. Is there anything you notice that might hint towards any future projects?
If nothing jumps out at you, take a look at the tweets below. Notice how the majority of the plushes behind Ishihara are from the Johto region? Plenty of fans have taken to social media after noticing the suspicious plushes, suggesting that we could be about to receive a new game set in the Johto region.
Following recent trends, that suggests we may well be getting a sequel to Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! that would serve as a new remake for Pokémon Gold And Silver. Remember that Junichi Masuda, Game Freak's executive director, once said he'd be open to the idea of the Let's Go series moving on to Johto.
We'll find out next week, but what do you think? Do you expect The Pokémon Company's announcement to be a new Let's Go game? Share your thoughts with us below, and make sure to get yourselves back here on 24th June to find out!

I want that Let's Go Marill... If the games are official.
Nah it's a game featuring a black pikachu
I hope not. I didn’t like Let’s Go as much.
God I hope not. Never let this become a series, please.
I know that it's not possible at all, but what if it's the Gen 4 remake?
No, here’s why- Pokémon Let’s Go was one of their yearly games, and Pokémon wouldn’t have a whole presentation about a game they won’t release until 2021.
Fix a few of the issues from Pikachu/evee and I'm 100% there for it. Those games kinda sucked, but still better than sword shield
The shadow Pikachu makes me think they will also announce remakes of Colosseum or XD or a new game in the Orre Region along with Johto remakes.
Haven’t played Let’s Go, but am hesitant to grab the original as I’m already spoiled by Sword. My gf also owns a Lite, so she’s not sure if the original Let’s Go is worth playing if controls are affected and hopes this potential new one addresses that possibility.
The let's go games were fun. And I really would love a Johto version, IF they would improve the way the catching mechanic works. For instance an option to battle the Pokémon and then catch.
Regular Pokémon battles or it’s a big no
Another Pokemon Switch game for the holiday season is needed.... The perfect counter punch against the Series X and PS5 release....
Wow guys... Is it not enough with Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee on 2018, Sword/Shield on 2019 and the DLCs and Mystery Dungeon on 2020?? How many Pokemon games do the fans want??
But hey! Let's also command Game Freak to create HIGH QUALITY titles with just one year of development...
Insane.
Pokemon Let's Go Togepi plz
Please don’t make a Let’s Go sequel. Just give us remakes.
@the_beaver You do realize some of these projects have probably already been on the fire for more than a year already?
@MegaVel9
Nah man, games don't exist until they see them!
Some kids on this site haven't developed object permanence I swear...
Screw all the naysayers, Let’s Go sequels with Gold/Silver would be joyous.
If it's another Let's Go, it'll be the first Pokemon game I skip. Taking away abilities, over half the movepool, several evolutions, plus constraining to one generation (which would be even more magnified for gen 2 which only had 100 pokemon), and that all aside from the catching mechanic... Those just ain't the Pokemon games for me. Here's hoping for Gen 4 remakes, or something else totally out of left field.
A side thought... I'm willing to bet that a Let's Go Johto would take out the revisit to Kanto and would just end after beating the E4.
This feels like Fighter Pass speculation, all over again.
Please God no. LGPE was garbage, Let’s Go should be buried and forgotten like it deserves.
I hope that this time they won't go the bare-bone route like with let's go Pikachu/Eevee, after 14 hours I finished it and never touched it again, just like with the OG games (in comparsion I spend 120+ hours in Fire Red and Leaf Green)
I just started my run of Pokemon Crystal. So it'll be interesting to compare the 2 it does become a thing
I mean, it makes sense to have another.
Man, I get that Let's Go Series is special for some people who want no challenge in games, but I'd rather have D/P/P remakes...
Masuda said Let's Go Johto wasnt in development during an interview in October 2019. Unless he was lying or started working on Let's Go 2 immediately after that interview, I find it hard to believe a new Let's Go game is coming anytime soon.
In fact, I think Let's Go games will only appear once per platform - I'd wager that Let's Go Johto will be a Switch 2 game.
Sword/Shield expansions, Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, a handful of mobile Pokemon spin-offs, and maybe New Pokemon Snap is enough Pokemon gaming content for 2020.
They already said that no more Let's Go games were in development so that can't be it.
@Screen They also said they had no plans to add Pokémon beyond the original Galarian Pokédex, despite the fact that the Expansion Pass was already under development. I wouldn’t take their word as gospel.
THERE ARE 2 DETECTIVE PIKACHU AMIIBO
This must mean Pokémon Dash 2 is coming.
#BlackPikachusMatter
I loved Let's Go so i'm all for this.
@thesilverbrick
Right, but it would have taken more than a year to make the game right?
I really liked Let's Go so Let's Go!
4 yearly cycle between remakes and mainline Pokémon games with Let's Go sprinkled in between.
He'll probably announce both though. Both Let's Go and P/D remakes so the hardcore fanbase will be pleased.
And I predict a complete nationaldex with all Pokémon games solely on Nintendo Switch. Which will be finished probably one year before the end of the Switch lifespan, 2023 (which will be the 2nd Switch mainline Pokémon game, Gen 9).
@MegaVel91 Obviously it´s more that one year lol, but not enough time, anyway. That´s my point. We ask them too much, and then complain if they don´t keep the quality expected.
@BLD You didn´t get my point, definitely. But I won´t waste my time explaining it to a fanboy like you.
Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
It's going to be a NEW POKEMON TRADING CARD GAME.
Crossing fingers.
@the_beaver
Fanboy? You're the one simping for TPC by insisting "They just don't have enough time!" You small-fingered goat.
@Crockin sure they are
@Severian they aren’t bad it just matters how you go in them. Ditch your starter and just chill out and catch Pokémon. It’s not a hard intense game.. more relaxing then anything
They are announcing the remasters of Pokemon Coliseum, and Gale of Darkness since they have never seen a re-release. I am guessing a dual pack.
Probably Pokken Tournament 2 instead.
@BLD Easy, man. You were the first one that said I was a kid...
Ok, I'll explain it to you. I said "one year" as an EXAGGERATION (I think it was obvious, but oh well). My point was that they don't have enough time to make the games with high quality because they are forced to release a Pokemon (or even more) per year, but yet, people ask them for more and more games, and complain when they are unable to deliver enough quality.
If you don't share my point, I don't care, honestly. I won't argue with you anymore, so keep insulting me if you like, I will ignore you.
I hope it isn't let's go gen 2 i hated the first installment
Way more interested in that game than anything SS could do at this point. I mean, at least the Dex cuts would actually make sense sort of in that game compared to SS...
@BabyYoshi12
No one complained about Let's Go's Trees
Thought those covers were real, I didn't hate lets go Eevee but i wasn't mad for it.
@ArtiomNLS What are you talking about...?? I complaint about the people that are always asking Game Freak to create more and more Pokemon games, even though they lack quality (they buy them anyway; not me, I want quality). They don't realise they have to stop wanting more and more games so fast, if they want them to have quality. Otherwise, they just can't complain.
The guy I answer called me, and I quote, "kid" for thinking like that, so I obviously thought it was one of those guys that do the things I'm complaining about (asking for more and more games even though they don't reach the quality they used to), aka, a fanboy (or a fan of Pokemon, if you like). That's what I called him. So where's the illogical thing that I said? I don't see it XD
Probably not a game at all.
Pokken 2? or something diferent?
@GameOtaku I think can be it too. Some things of this last years give this a good possibility.
HeartGold on Switch pls
@TheLightSpirit that was announced in this presentation. People are speculating what will happen in the next presentation.
@TheLightSpirit A new Pokemon Stadium is never happening. From the perspective of the Pokemon Company, I can say with confidence, that the franchise has outgrown the need for a dedicated, 3D PvP, Pokemon Battle focused game and in many ways, that's true.
As soon as the franchise jumped to 3D on the mainline titles, Stadium and other games like it as a concept for the Pokemon franchise died.
@the_beaver
Most people aren't forcing this on them though. You're mistaking speculation over something TPC is teasing as somehow being the fault of fans, you pickled raddish. If pumping out too many games is the problem, it's one created by TPC themselves. Nobody asked for Let's Go, and in fact a ton of fans pleaded TPC move SwSh back instead of releasing it so half-finished.
If TPC was really just innocently trying to make the best game possible but those MEAN BULLY FANSA just forced them to crap out an unfinished product that they'd NEVER have released otherwise, then why are we being charged 30 extra for that cut content?
It's almost like TPC planned this all along, while feeding gullible spoon-guzzlers lies about "new models", "balance" and "fitting the region".
Okay there are a lot of Johto Pokémon up there but there’s also Lapras Mewtwo Slowpoke Sandshrew the new starters. I’m not saying it’s a bad assumption but there is a sentence in the article that says “every single plush is from
the Johto region except for Pikachu”
I certainly hope not. Pls don't ruin my fav Gen, Nintendo/Pokemon Company!
Please don't... at least not now. We need the Gen 4 remakes But honestly I'm not sure either as the production quality of SwSh was bad, so I rather not have them butcher Gen 4....
As reasonable as the opinions may be, I think it all comes down to the point that the people who will buy the game, will buy the game, no matter what they throw at you.
So bored of the same old mechanic. Something new, anything new.
Local coop in a meaningful way please. Would be so refreshing if this game looked like it was developed this century.
is too much concidence to be ignored for the possible annoucement of Pokémon Lets Go Johto on next Wedsday(24).
Build it in unreal 4 come on!
Voice acting... mics are cheap now!
If they add battle to catch I'm in for this. Really want a more classic Pokémon experience.
Lol how does everyone come up with these ideas?
@BANJO I don't play Pokemon but I agree Nintendo needs something for holiday and they have been super quiet lately with everyone throwing out game after game announcement. Be interesting to see if Pokemon is their holiday game. I am doubting we'll get to see BOTW2 this year but I also hope I am wrong.
I hope not. I had no interest in the first Let's Go games and I won't care about future ones if they happen. If I really want to revisit Johto, I'll play SoulSilver again.
I wouldn't mind a Let's Go Johto but I also would like that to be the last in the Let's Go series and any future Gen remakes be proper ones like Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I never really liked Gen 4, something just never clicked, so I hope a proper remake will change my mind.
Pokemon is becoming like COD for Activision.
Just release one every year to help the bottom line. Maybe both teams (well 2 for Acti) should take a year or 2 off and take the time to make something really special and fresh.
But at this point they know it will sell regardless - so doubt it will even happen. Just keep pumping them out.
I think or let go jhoto but it be 20 dollar dlc to the first game and gen 4 remakes along that but gen 4 is 2021 and detective Pikachu complete game
Next after that is Let's GO! Plusle and Minun and Let's GO! Illumise and Volbeat, and introduces 2 vs. 2 matches.
Want it to be confirmation of a second wave of DLC that allows EVERY Pokemon to get into Sword or Shield. Unfortunately, as it was a hit despite not selling a lot for Pokemon... It's Let's Go Johto.
I imagine disappointment is planned
@grewupnintendo Me neither, I don't play Pokemon but realise it's importance. I also don't play Animal Crossing... A Pokemon game for the holiday season, I would include it free with the Nintendo Lite would sell massively.... A simple yet so effective marketing trick, I just hope Nintendo is not blind...
I would love to see a new Pokémon Stadium. I adored these games as a kid. Nobody seems to remember them
I’d be up for it
@BabyYoshi12 or it’s coming out this year...
Let's Go, Togepi! 😆
There's also two Detective Pikachu amiibo at the bottom left.
@Matthew010 Ooh, huge plot twist!
@LafayetteBlues They release one big thing every year, this year it’s SW&SH DLC, I just don’t see this happening.
Oh man, I hope so. Johto was my fav region. Anything to see it in 3D.
Personally, I wouldn't want the GO games to become a series because of all the removed content from original gen 1 in Let's Go Pikachu and Eeevee, and also the £50 controller that didn't do an awful lot. It makes me fear they'll repeat what they did in GO.
I am definitely interested if they are making the game.
@Agramonte and every EA team, and every 2K sports team
Plot twist: they'll skip Johto and go straight to Hoenn. Let's GO Zangoose and Let's GO Seviper.
@TheLightSpirit The difference between Stadium and Snap is that Pokemon Snap does something with the franchise that the mainline games do not do: Show off Pokemon in their own habitats and interacting or minding their own beeswax. The Pokemon Stadiums games did something that the mainline games were already doing and gave you a new way to experience them (Pokemon Battles in 3D).
Now that we're in the 3D era for Pokemon games wholesale, the concept of the Pokemon Stadium games is obsolete: there's no necessity or need for it.
If a new Pokemon Stadium game was made it would be a minor difference in graphics and style for the most part, and then people would say "why can't the main games look like this?!"
There's truth to that, but it's to illustrate a point here.
To be honest, I don't think this concept would still thrive. The Let's Go games felt like a different take on the mainline series. It was more than good, but not necessarily the "next step" that Sword and Shield delivered.
If they released another one, I hope it doesn't take the spot of the $59.99 release again. Just make it an expansion to Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee or something but... it's time to talk about 2021 this early, right?
By the way, that Black Pikachu on the left is probably another hint.
I think Marill likely would be a let's Go Johto starter, but I doubt the other would be Pichu. My guess is the other would be Togepi or maybe Snubil.
Regular battles or at least fix that option that forces the garbage motion controls on TV mode, and maybe there'd be a chance of saving it.
Though maybe the Johto level curve will be what the game needed to save it from feeling like my team is constantly underpowered (due to both of the first issues).
man pokemon fandom is toxic! theres a black pikachu in the back round..........
Since Let's Go came out, I'd prefer remakes be more in line with HeartGold/SoulSilver. While I still find Let's Go really pretty and beautiful, it's basically a walking sim. So boring!
@Harmonie I’m with you but unfortunately Let’s Go sold way too well for them to just drop it. I do feel it’s too early to announce this or Sinnoh remakes though so I am personally hoping for Pokken Tournament 2.
Even not including pikachu, not every single plush there is from Johto. There are Kanto, Kalos and Galar pokémon there too
So the big question is, how many Johto Pokemon are still missing in Sword/Shield that would warrant a Let's Go game to update those games to include the rest of the Johto Dex?
And if not a lot, then what about the Sinnoh dex?
As a huge fan of Gen 2 and Johto in general, this would probably be enough to get me to bite on the Let's Go games and give them a try.
That aside though this seems like a reach.
@Agramonte They have almost always been once a year. Red/Blue-1998, Yellow-1999, Gold/Silver-2000, Crystal-2001, Ruby/Sapphire-2002, Fire Red/Leaf Green-2004, Emerald-2005, Diamond/Pearl-2007, Platinum-2009, HG/SS-2010, Black/White-2011, Black 2/White 2-2012, X/Y-2013, OR/AS-2014, Sun/Moon-2016, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon-2017, Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee-2018, Sword/Shield-2019
So the only exceptions to once a year were between Ruby/Sapphire and Fire Red/Lead Green, Emerald and Diamond/Pearl and OR/AS and Sun/Moon.
If it’s a let’s go series game, it better be able to be played with the pro controller! That’s a huge turnoff for me with the first let’s go games!
@Aawill91 My understanding is that it did not sell just phenomenally well for Pokemon games. Especially not in Japan.
Gold and silver are the best Pokémon games of all time. I believe the only ones to have 2 Regions. Can’t wait for 3D remakes
@Crono1973 Tons of series have been once of year - that is not my point. Sooner or later it just becomes obvious the team needs a break from that grind and the games/fans benefits from it.
Just ask Ubisoft.
Is nobody going to point out that the counterpart to pichu would be azurill and not marill?
Gen 4 remakes.
@Severian you can still play Let’s Go in handheld mode so the Lite will be perfect for it. My brother has a lite and he loves Let’s Go versus having to use one Joy Con if he were to play the regular Switch in dock mode.
Oh no...
why, plz no.
@Jaguar11891 Wishful thinking 😂😂 but I would also want the same
We need a big rpg game with the original ash ketchum from the indigo league, same design and look, where he enters the future of 2020 and must save the world and find the pokemon that can return him home to his own time while also catching new pokemon to change his past from losing the pokemon league and winning with a better strategy and finally becoming a pokemon master
I've taken so many breaks through playing Let's Go, Long, long breaks. It really isn't as addicting as the old games. I find myself more inclined to level up the mon by taking them out for a walk in the PokeBall Plus than to do the annoying catching mechanic to level them up... If you prefer to play the game by not actually playing the game then there's something wrong with it. I honestly feel like you should have had the option to battle and wear down the Pokemon, so it would be motionless maybe or be subdued in some way to catch, or you could finish it like the rest of the series and gain XP like that. I don't want to send the professor 50 Pidgeys. If they could make those changes, though, I'd be game.
Does seem pretty suspicious.
i think it would be either togepi and marill (or azumarill)
OR, maybe a trio of elekid, magby and smoochum
I can't be the only one hoping for Poke park 3?
Maybe its let's go espeon and umbreon along the lines of pokemon xd on the gc
But what about Gen 4 rema-......
@Franz : God I hope so! We haven't had a trading card game since the gbc or ds if you imported. I'd also be excited for a new pokemon pinball game on the switch as well.
@Grahamthecracker Those Pokemon relate to Johto however, barring the 8th gen starters. Lapras was what would depect the player while surfing (also showed up once a week in a well hidden cave making it more significant) the Slowpoke is what Team Rocket was causing a disturbance with first encountered by the player to cut their tails for money, Mewtwo can be found in the Cerulean Cave in HGSS, and the Sandshrew statues look very similar to the statues in the Unknown Cave, don't they?
I’m luke-warm on another Let’s Go game. It was just ok. Not being able to fight wild Pokémon was really a drag for me. Found the game had zero replay-ability and not much of a reason to stick around after the Elite Four. I was starving for Pokémon on Switch at the time, so it made it easier to swallow but I don’t think I’d drop $60 for a follow-up. Make it $39.99 and maybe I’d play through it once before trading it in. NO IDEA how anyone could seriously say it was better than Sword & Shield. When I see statements like that I think: either this person didn’t play the game or they are just speaking out of spite.
@KnightRider666 It would be nice to get all caught up with the card game. I peeked at a video on how it’s played nowadays and wow.... so different! But that’s expected. I wouldn’t mind Pokémon pinball!!
Let's Go Unown and Let's Go Dunsparce are going to rule.
Maybe we'll get special Galarian forms of Unown with little hats.
'Big Project' sounds rather grand. And it's getting it's own direct. A Pokémon MMO could be the biggest MMO event in the history of the genre (Move over World of Warcraft type big) but I'm not convinced either Pokémon Company or Nintendo would condone people living in their consoles lol.
No idea what it could be, but Let's Go Too is very plausible
Enough with the pokemon, give us a real direct!
Did they say if this was going to be a standalone announcement from the Pokemon company, or can we get our expectations unrealistically high for an actual direct next week that this will be a part of?
@NovaCam azurill didn't exist in gen 2.
So, I never understood the 'let's go' series. It was boring when compared to the main games.
Then my 5 year old daughter picked it up while I was at work. I got home and she was stuck in Mt. Moon so I picked up the spare joycon and showed her where to go.
She loved it and I loved getting her involved, then I got it.
This game is for casual gamers and children (even moreso than the mainline games)
If this is real I will be very excited to get it for my daughter so we can share in the experience.
I hope is Detective Pikachu 2, i been waiting forever for more info on that game ever since they announced it back in 2017.
Oh!
...a Pikachu in a bow tie and a dickey!
I could see it happening and I hope so but my hope is not high with this series. A Pokemon MMORPG is what I considered a big announcement, a Pokemon free roaming RPG through multiple regions is what I considered a big announcement, a proper Pokemon HD remake of Diamond and Pearl is what I considered a big announcement. More Pokemon spinoffs and mobile games aren't big announcement and I hope they surprise me.
I mean I don't mind but it'd probably be Gen 4 remakes (I hope).
Gen 2 was remade in Gen 4, Gen 3 was remade in Gen 6, so time for Gen 4 remakes! Although I guess Gen 4 does include HG and SS so maybe....
Toilet time can be stressful. But not with Pokémon by your side.
Pokémon Grimace.
Let's Go Pikachu felt too watered down to keep my interest. My neices loved it though for the catching mechanics. Most the improvements those games made are now in Sword and Shield, so Let's Go sequels would have to do a lot for me to get my own copy
@Screen Yes, but my point is they were already busy making the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra behind the scenes when they said they had “no plans” to add more Pokémon to Sword and Shield. They lied. They could’ve done the same when they said they weren’t making Let’s Go sequels.
Oh, look! A new game I might actually be interested in. That's rare. Though I also maintain that rumors are not news, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
Naw guys, we're about to get Pokemon TCG on Switch. It's gonna be a sick pull.
@Jaguar11891 that's just a plush designed by Japanese street wear designer Hiroshi Fujiwara. It's from a project they did a couple of years ago called Project Thunderbolt.
#bringbackspikeyearedpichu and then I'll buy it, I still have my shiny pichu from the last event.
I mean you could also see this as a pokemon collseseum/XD port of sorts, as for a lot of that was featured there... also pokken DX is in the back, I really wouldn't read into it that much.
@Harmonie Same, I Liked the Let's Go Series at first but now that my joy cons have drift and you can't use a pro controller, it would ruin the fun because the whole time I will be trying to move in one direction and i'll be missing out on all of the important stuff.
The only reason I'd want Lets Go Johto is a Heracross, its then only gen2 I'm missing in Pokemon Go
Togepi would make more sense than Pichu.
@MarinoKadame I would LOVE a Let's Go Togepi, I don't even love those games, but Togepi as the mascot would make me instantly buy it
@Harmonie Let’s Go has sold 12 million copies which is more than Crystal’s 6 million, Emerald’s 6, Platinum’s 7, Black/White 2’s 8 and Ultra Sun/Moon’s 9. I wouldn’t be surprised if Let’s Go became a series that would replace the core series’ remakes and sequels because it has sold better than all of them except Yellow and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. But to be clear I really hope my prediction is wrong.
Haha very funny but no Pick other starters..
Wow I hope the come out soon bc ima chose Marill
