Update: Zoids Wild: Blast Unleashed is a brand new Zoids video game which "combines simple and intuitive 3D combat with spectacular, anime graphics" and is releasing exclusively to Switch on October 16th 2020.

Original Story: [Tue 16th Jun, 2020 09:30 BST]: Once upon a time, Zoids was a big deal in the west. Back in the 1980s, when big robots were all the rage, the plastic kit toy line was a major hit for Tomy. However, in recent years the series has become virtually unknown outside of Japan – but it seems that is about to change.
The Australian rating board states that Zoids Wild: Blast Unleashed is coming to that region, with Outright Games handling publishing duties. Dutch studio Codeglue is listed as the developer, which is strange as Zoids titles are usually developed in Japan. Zoids Wild, in case you were wondering, is the name of the fifth 'cross-media' series based on the toy, and started in 2018.
It's not known yet which Zoids entry this actually is; Zoids games have been coming out in Japan pretty regularly, so this could be a localised version of last year's Switch release Zoids Wild: King of Blast. However, a new Zoids game was announced for Japan recently, so there's a chance this could be the western version of that. A third option is that this is an all-new game developed by Codeglue, but that seems like an outside bet; Codeglue has a talent for porting titles so it could be that it is simply handling the localisation process.
Whatever the story is behind Zoids Wild: Blast Unleashed, we'll report back once we know for sure.

Hooray! I love Zoids.
I loved the Zoids anime that was on Toonami/Cartoon Network back in the early 2000s. The one with Bit Cloud and the Liber Zero and the one with Van and the Shield Liger.
But later shows have shifted to a hideous CG art style that looks like a cheap PS2 era video game pre-rendered cut scene.
Still, I have a Liger Zero, Shadow Fox and Gun Sniper Leena custom sitting on my shelf along with my various Gundam model kits.
Heck yeah. Hope its last years, with all the dlc. Looked awesome.
Best toys ever, even better than Lego. How I loved building Zoidzilla, Ultrasaurus and others.
Had just been watching clips of Zoids: Chaotic Century the other day now this. Glad to see the franchise is still alive & kicking in Japan at least.
Man, I'd forgotten about Zoids. Loved them as a kid! Didn't even know they made it out of the 80s.
Basically has the exact same name as the Japanese release, 'I wonder if this will be the same game Japan got' , seeing as no other Zoids games exist on the system.

Dang okay. I'm probably in. I do hope they include the DLC in this version, so it doesn't launch with a ton of Day 1 DLC. It'd definitely help it sell better over here too if it was a complete edition.
Wow, okay I totally forgot about Zoids. Was really into this a kid. I'll definitely give this game a shot when it releases.
Recall watching Chaotic Century on TV and Genesis via fansubs. Could have potential, my main concern however is always that most emphasis is based on the customisation and no. Of parts over the gameplay itself.
Then again, that hasn’t stopped me from raking up more than 50 hrs playing Gundam Breaker 3.
It would be awesome if we had a zoids game like the one on gamecube that allowed customization and you to control zoids. Game was pretty good action interpretation of zoids with bit and van both having their own story/modes of sorts.
My only complaint was there was no zoid swapping for 2 on 2 fights and non of the story modes offered local co-op which would have been a godsend.
Do the Zoids show more individual awareness than they used to back in New Century Zero? I haven't kept up with the series.
If so, those eyes are probably more natural looking in motion, but if not then they're kinda freaky for no good reason.

@Freddyfred Can't help but think of a cheesy LoZ/Power Rangers fusion where everyone fights in Divine Beasts. Yeah, the main cast fight amongst each other sometimes (Revali and Link, notably), but they'll still largely follow Link's lead and work together to form a "Megazord" Divine Beast.
My grandma always had these toys at her house. I always played with them.
I bought this game in Japan last year. It's ok.
I haven't seen zoids in maybe 18 years but this game looks really fun.
Used to love those toys as a kid in the 80s. I remember getting a really good comic book too, probably Marvel UK or IPC.
Oh man the nostalgia. I am getting this. I was following the original Japanese release hoping it would release overseas but then forgot about it after a while and to my surprise here it is again with English dub this time. Hope the DLC Zoids are added to the cart. A sequel to this is coming to Japan later on.
I'm hoping it's a remaster of the 1985 Zoids: The Battle Begins game. I loved it on my Commodore 64. And not just for the epic Rob Hubbard music.

I don't even care if it's a terrible game that just looks pretty. I'ma buy this, and hope they keep bringing more Zoids game to the west
@Musicman0618 I have this game as a Japanese import. They said they're not sure which game this is, but it looks exactly like last year's King of Blast. It's a fairly respectable game. The fighting mechanics are fairly simple, but not as dumbed down as Pokken Tournament. The graphics are a little on the plain side, but the flashing lighting and flame effects really liven it up. The best feature (for people like me that usually play single player) is it has a huge branching path single player campaign. Honestly, it doesn't do a whole lot to add variety, but at least it gives you a goal to work towards that takes a long time to complete. So it's not like Arms where you win ten fights and your done with the single player content.
@TheFox I'm more of a single player myself. So the idea of a huge branching story makes me happy to hear. I did notice that the graphics seemed a bit simple but the attack effects were pretty decent looking. Thanks for filling me in more about what the game could be like.

This isn't brand new, this is the same game that came out in Japan a year ago.
