Christopher Nolan, the acclaimed director of The Dark Knight movie series, Inception, Dunkirk and Interstellar, has used Fortnite's pacifist-friendly Party Royale mode to show off the latest trailer for this next movie, Tenet.

This is kind of a big deal because Tenet is expected to be one of the year's biggest releases and the initial teaser trailer from late last year gave very little away in terms of plot.

The trailer shown in Fortnite fixed that to a degree; while there's still a lot of detail to fill in, but we now know that the story focuses on the ability to reverse time and how this ability can be used to save the world from destruction.

The cast includes the likes of John David Washington, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Robert Pattinson, the latter of whom will be taking on the role of Batman soon, which is a neat 'circle of life' moment when you consider how much Nolan did to revive the cinematic fortunes of that character.

According to Epic's excellently-named Donald Mustard, Nolan himself suggested the event:

The idea of debuting the TENET trailer came from a phone call with Christopher Nolan. We were all talking about our love of seeing new trailers in a THEATER and how sad we were that we can’t do that right now - but how maybe this could be the next best thing. Hope you love it!

You can watch the trailer below, as well as footage of it appearing in Fortnite.

This isn't the first time that Fortnite's massive built-in audience has made it the perfect platform for big reveals. We've seen music stars hold entire concerts in the game, and last year, footage from the Star Wars movie The Rise of Skywalker was shown off to Fortnite players.

Interestingly, it has also been revealed that an entire Nolan movie will be screened in the game in the near future, although it hasn't been confirmed which it will be.
