Super Mario Maker 2 was one of the Switch highlights in 2019, but Nintendo has announced it will soon wrap up its support for the game – with one "free final update" (aka. the last major one), arriving on April 22nd.

It adds a World Maker mode – allowing up to 40 courses to be linked together, the Koopalings as enemies (all seven of the troublemakers, to be precise), along with the key-chasing Phanto, and wind-up Mechakoopas.

Additional power-ups and course parts are also being added as part of this major update. This includes the Super Mario Bros. 2 Mushroom – transforming Mario and friends into their SMB2 counterparts, the Frog Suit from Super Mario Bros. 3 is also included, and so is the Power Balloon from Super Mario World.

Some more recent power-ups to be featured include the Super Acorn from New Super Mario Bros. U and the Boomerang Flower from Super Mario 3D World. Last, but not least, are five new wearable variations –a few of these being the Cannon Box and Propeller Box.
