Animal Crossing Mario Kart

Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 30th March - 5th April, revealing that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still having a wonderful time at the top.

The game sold an estimated 423,367 copies in the region last week, taking its Japanese physical sales total to just over 3 million. Amazingly, this means that - after just three weeks on sale - New Horizons has already surpassed the lifetime physical sales total achieved by Switch's evergreen giant Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the country.

Animal Crossing's third-week success also keeps it at number one in the weekly chart, comfortably holding off PS4's big release this week, Resident Evil 3.

In terms of hardware, Switch didn't manage to have quite as successful a week as last time around, but the original model and Switch Lite's combined total of 154,000 sales is nothing to scoff at. Here are this week's figures, followed by lifetime sales in brackets:
