90% off - was $19.99, now $1.99 until 4th Apr 2020

Runner3 is wonderfully creative and funny, relying on a style of play that belies the challenge at its heart. A few moments of unbalanced control or obstacle design can frustrate, but this will pass when Commander Video finally nails a sequence of movements and makes you feel like a fast-fingered expert.

Snake Pass (Switch eShop)

Snake Pass (Switch eShop)Snake Pass (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Sumo Digital / Developer: Sumo Digital
Release Date: 28th Mar 2017 (USA) / 29th Mar 2017 (UK/EU)

70% off - was $19.99, now $5.99 until 6th Apr 2020

Snake Pass was a real gem in the early Switch library, and is certainly worth a look for anyone looking for colourful palette cleanser between massive releases coming on a monthly basis. You probably won't have played a game like it before — which certainly can be a double-edged sword — but it's a fresh experience that will keep you engaged until the very end. Solid visuals, unconventional gameplay, a memorable soundtrack and a decent amount of replay value make this well worth your time, and we absolutely give it a recommendation. If you're looking to take a chance and play something unique, then Snake Pass is well worth a look.

Donut County (Switch eShop)

Donut County (Switch eShop)Donut County (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Annapurna Interactive / Developer: Ben Esposito
Release Date: 18th Dec 2018 (USA) / 18th Dec 2018 (UK/EU)

50% off - was $12.99, now $5.99 until 2nd Apr 2020

Donut County is perfect if you're looking for a short, relaxing, funny puzzle game. It's an enjoyable experience that has just enough charm to justify its existence, and although some might find the relatively high price tag a tough pill to swallow for three hours max of content, it's a tasty little treat of a game that you can devour in a single sitting. Short and sweet, indeed.

Wulverblade (Switch eShop)

Wulverblade (Switch eShop)Wulverblade (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Darkwind Media / Developer: Fully Illustrated
Release Date: 12th Oct 2017 (USA) / 12th Oct 2017 (UK/EU)

80% off - was $19.99, now $3.99 until 2nd Apr 2020

Despite its modest hack-and-slash origins, Wulverblade manages to pack in a lot of content, depth and unlockable elements, and these allow it to transcend the usual limitations of the beat 'em up genre. Like the games that inspired it, Wulverblade is best played with a friend – not just because it's more enjoyable, but because it blunts the almost sadistic difficulty level. Wulverblade therefore might not be to everybody's tastes, but if you have even a passing interest in genre then we can confidently predict you'll get along with this famously – and you may even learn something about the history of Roman Britain in the process, which isn't something you can say about every video game.

And with the growing trend of games plummeting to mere cents, here's our sub-$1 pick for a super cheap game that's worth the memory space it takes up on your Switch...

Drawful 2 (Switch eShop)

Drawful 2 (Switch eShop)Drawful 2 (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Jackbox Games / Developer: Jackbox Games
Release Date: 21st Jun 2018 (USA) / 21st Jun 2018 (UK/EU)

99% off - was $9.99, now $0.09 until 9th Apr 2020

As part of The Jackbox Party Pack, Drawful offered a brief yet silly way to have fun with friends, but its no-frills concept, lack of support for online multiplayer (especially with the lack of native streaming support Switch users have to contend with) and hefty asking price and Drawful 2 becomes a tough sell at best. However, if you’re after a local couch-play alternative (and it's really best when you can look your friends in the eye and admonish them directly for their appalling sketch skills), this one will scratch that party game itch. For 9 cents, it's the very definition of a no-brainer, especially if you're stuck inside with family at the moment.
